I used to have a neighbor who lived across the street her dog could sense when she was going to have a seizure and stand in front of her and then back her up into a chair. That way she wouldn't fall down and get hurt.

In the 1950s, children were not allowed to visit their siblings or parents in hospital. Can you believe??? but that was true. ...yes there is a germs issue for other patients, but most hospitals in Australia would allow this. Progress can be Wonderful!!!!

My male German shepherd knew before I did that I was pregnant (or something was different). He followed me everywhere, very clingy. I had 1st baby, and he again knew when I miscarried later. I think he thought that was his pup. He now watches my daughter like she was his own pup.

The family animals would be considered to be and Essential part of Palliative care here. There would be some rules, like the animal has to have no fleas and obvious stuff like that, and someone who can take the animal home if it gets distressed.

i got my most recent dog from animal control. he does this too, i'm guessing it is from previous training. for him, it means either 'i need to go potty' or 'pay attention to me.' pay enough attention to what's going on when yours does it & you'll be able to figure it out soon enough. whoever had my dog before he made it to AC put some time & effort into training him, but he's a runner, so i can almost see why they might not have come looking for him; sad, but i'm happy with him!

That's a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, if I don't miss my guess. My family's had 2 and they're the best! Never met one that doesn't like water, though... as they're bred for duck hunting. Such a good doggo, though :)

I don't know why Dawn is getting downvoted. She's correct. When dogs display what appears to be "guilt" they are most likely reading the emotions of the humans around them and responding accordingly. This dog likely looks sad because dad hasn't been home for awhile, and he probably understands that dad got hurt.

I have one of those "don't touch me unless I want you to touch me....and for ONLY as long as I want you to touch me" cats. At some point I noticed the princess was constantly laying ON me....yeah I was happy with the dont touch me cat. For months this went on and I just chalked it up to eh shes changed. Kind of like kids do. Fast Fwd a few more months and I was found to have a major blockage in my carotid artery .... like 99.9% SHE KNEW!! Fast Foward to post surgery...FINALLY she leaves me be and is back to her old I'm the QUEEN self. All animals are very atuned to their humans.

Cats can sense when cancer is in your body, when my precious cat Pixie was alive, she cuddled with someone she only thought as the owner and inhibitor of the house, not an owner like I was to her. My grandmother got very worried after she read an article of her favorite pet newspaper that cats can tell when you are sick and/or have cancer.

I had a German Shepard that helped my two year old how to stand and helped her walk without holding on the to walls. She held onto him. She was shy loved her new pet so much. He slept under her crib. He was a standard Shepard with papers , was from the lineage of Rintintin. Great Great Great Great so on grandson of same and the dogs name was Maxiums Quaitius Uxor. I know I spelled all wrong but this is a good way to pronounce his name. His head and neck were larger than my child and they played very ruff with all that growling and stuff and she would come out happy and just a bit wet. No scratches are bite marks. No one came near my daughter but me.

I love animals and watch them interact with people and mostly children. They observe and even stop a child from going near the pool and if said child can swim , the dog will go into the pool with the child and lead it toward the steps. Grandson would just run into the pool and his feet would keep running in the air as he plopped down into my arms then we would have to move really fast because the large Rocky would jump right in behind him. Not over yet , I would have to hand the baby to mom and dog would get out and then it would happen again. Then one day baby of two ran out with us to far behind but the dog was right on spot. The baby came to the surface and the dog let the baby hang on to float to the steps. Baby was then taught how to swim that very day . Rock stayed with him for a long time and followed him everywhere.

I used to cry when I was little because I was sick and no came to comfort me. That’s when my gay uncle’s boyfriend’s (now husband, I love him dearly) German Shepard Great Dane mix, Reese, came into my life. The big blackie looked like a bear and was a baby, and would protect me, always very well because of his bear like qualities. That dog was with me for years, sadly a few years ago he passed away. I loved him and this just reminded me of how he loved me. Thank you for reminding me.

Actually the thing is we don't deserve animals, not just dogs. Today morning I saw one clip on YT where a Giant blue whale saved a marine scientist from a shark by pushing scientist out of water, in another story an elephant saved a villager from a tiger attack, in another YT clip I saw a cat shoulder bang a dog attacking a small child, dogs saving people from drowning, horses carrying back their hurt masters back to villages, and Many many other such stories from everywhere and of involving various animals. And what we do, kill them for game, eat them, or wear their skin, cut their horns and other heinous crimes against them. And best of all, we put them in ZOO, f*ckng pathetic. Between I am off to Tanzania Next month too see the best friends, probably will create a post here.

When I had a hysterectomy, I was off work for 6 weeks, in bed for the first 2. My border collie mix, Holly, stayed next to me on the bed the entire time. When I would go into the bathroom, she followed, and stayed close. She never left my side until I returned to work.

This makes me miss my 2 boxer girls so much - (the younger one just passed away a few weeks ago). They were always there beside me when I was sick, hurt, or just sad. Although it isnt easy being snuggled and comforted by 1101b of dogs when you have a broken elbow lol. They would always leap in uncontrolled exitement when I came home from work then bring me gifts of all their favorite toys - bless them

Mt dog knows when I'm sad or depressed and he does exactly what I'd want any human to do; give me space and check on me periodically. He lightly pushed the door and looks at me, i say "hey, pup. Thanks for checking on me." and he nods (weird, but appreciated) and goes about his business. If I'm actually crying, he'll come boop my nose with his own nose or lick my face or hand. Sometimes he'll lay next to me, if I tell him "I'm fine" and push him away. His face is rather expressive so I can tell he can see think I'm not fine but he respects that I want to be alone and goes away. And the cycle continues. Such a good boy, though when I'm in a good mood he ignores me and barks loudly when I say he can't run away and live in the woods with the wild animals

These are all such beautiful dogs. Their devotion deserves the very best we can give of our love and care in return. All animals are amazing creatures but dogs do so much for us - we train them to help sniff out mines, drugs, people, to warn us of seizures, low blood sugar, to tackle people on the run, to guide us and help us in the home and so very much more. They deserve the title of Man's Best Friend. We don't deserve them really.

Argo, my hooligan corgi is 15 months old and perhaps too young to understand sickness, for he never acts like that when I'm sick. However, he sacrifices his own comfort even during summer and stays covered with a blanket just in order for me to hug him in the morning. Perhaps I'm wrong to judge him as a stubborn bad dog.

Argo is just very young still. My youngest dog is only one year and she's still at the 'glares at me when she doesn't get her own way' stage. My previous dog definitely new when I was sick and she was blind and partially deaf.

Whenever I lay down during daytime when i'm home, my maine c**n kitty always comes to the bed, checks first if I'm alive with her nose, only then she lays down and stays there for the rest of my nap. That last few days of my fathers life, my dog wouldn't leave his side. She would kiss him and snuggle him and knew what was coming and how sick he was. After he passed, she smelled him, kissed him and came to me to comfort me!! Dog are THE BEST!

Argo is just very young still. My youngest dog is only one year and she's still at the 'glares at me when she doesn't get her own way' stage. My previous dog definitely new when I was sick and she was blind and partially deaf.

Whenever I lay down during daytime when i'm home, my maine c**n kitty always comes to the bed, checks first if I'm alive with her nose, only then she lays down and stays there for the rest of my nap. Animals are true friends, devoted, unconditional and always there for you. Cherish each and every moment with them.

That last few days of my fathers life, my dog wouldn't leave his side. She would kiss him and snuggle him and knew what was coming and how sick he was. After he passed, she smelled him, kissed him and came to me to comfort me!! Dog are THE BEST!
