Whether it's your wallet, your phone, or a special gift from a loved one, there's nothing worse than that moment you realize you've lost something important to you. You check and recheck pockets and drawers, hoping and praying that whatever is lost will somehow magically reappear, while deep down you know that it's almost certainly gone forever.
But what if it isn't? What if it turns up days, months, or even years later in the most unexpected of circumstances? The chances are slim, but as you can see from this intriguing list compiled by Bored Panda, that doesn't mean it can't happen, so if you've lost something, don't despair, because it might not be gone forever.

A Woman Lost Her Wedding Ring In 1995 Found It 16 Years Later When She Was Picking Carrots
At first I thought that the carrot took 16 years to grow...damn I'm a dumbass.
This is the third or fourth carrot and ring story I've read. I want to start planting carrots near random old country farm houses to see if I can get rich!
In the 1960's I was sent to dig a trench in this old ladies front garden for a new drain going in, it was beautiful loamy soil and nearly the first spadeful of soil I dug up I spotted a gold engagement ring with stones set in it, so I put it in my pocket, a couple of yards further on I found a wide gold wedding ring, I put that in my pocket as well, It had just started snowing and this old lady brought me a mug of tea out, it was very welcome as it was getting cold, when I returned the mug I asked the old lady how long she had lived in this cottage, she said all her life as had her mother before her, I asked her if she had ever lost anything in the garden and she said, I lost my engagement ring in WW1 just after we we wed I lost my wedding ring, my husband went to war and I did not dare tell him, I bought some cheap look a likes and he did not notice, she was in tears by this time, I said that I have found something in your garden you might want to look at, they were her rings.
I've heard this story hundreds of times but it's still as good as ever!

Not a Harry Potter fan, obviously. Floating muffins is how Hermione knocked out Crabbe and Goyle in CoS to interrogate Malfoy.

My Buddy Lost His iPhone In Early February And Just Found It, Frozen Into Our Driveway. And It Still Works!
Wow! Now THAT would be a story worth using for am advertisement or a promotion of some kind. Did you try to get it touch with Apple?
Our car got stuck in one of the fields around my city in the winter when we went onto the close hills to use our sleds. While we, the kids were having fun, a couple of strangers went to the rescue. One of them was holding my dad's phone while he was trying to drive the car out of the wayside. The stranger dropped the phone by accident and dad drove right through it. My mom rang in order to find it. It was under 30 cm of snow, but completely in order! The stranger was English and said with big accent "Тоя телефон бил Waterproof!", which means "Tha' telephone was waterproof!". We laughed so much at this.
"your telefone was waterproof" damned russians is everywhere.......

During WWII, my parents moved around the country as my father was transferred during his stint in the Army Air Corps. In 1944, living in a rented apartment in Kansas, he lost his high school ring. In 1949, we returned to his native New Orleans. In 1960, six months before my brother graduated from the SAME HIGH SCHOOL, Daddy received the ring in the mail from his landlady, who had tracked us down through many moves. My brother wore it for his high school graduation.

if carrots and magpies ever join forces then the world of shiny things is never gonna be the same
This could just be called: Lost and found wedding rings (and a couple of other things.)
Rings on carrots, wallets in bodies of water, toys in trees. I can now find ALL the things!
I used to keep all my "good jewelry" in an old wallet on the top shelf of my closet instead of my jewelry box for "safe keeping" in case I got robbed. One night I woke up out of a dead sleep and realized I had just taken all my old purses and wallets to the local goodwill after a major whole-house cleaning. One of my wedding rings (didn't fit at the time), all my mother's diamond jewelry she left me when she passed, everything of value was in that wallet. I scoured the goodwill warehouse, searched e-bay endlessly for any of my pieces, and was genuinely hysterical for many months knowing I'd never be able to replace them for their emotional value alone. Then I stumbled upon them one day in a "safe place" I don't even remember stashing them while in the midst of my cleaning. Many tears of joy were shed. Needless to say, I now have a safe deposit box at my bank for more prudent "safe keeping".
