Timothée, 30, was nominated in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category for Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, which was his third nomination after Call Me by Your Name (2017) and A Complete Unknown (2024).
However, despite the buzz surrounding Timothée, it was ultimately Michael B. Jordan who took home the award for his double role as the Smoke and Stack twins in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners.

Pauline, 34, made her film debut in Judd Apatow’s comedy The King of Staten Island in 2020.
From 2021 to 2025, she starred in the HBO Max comedy series The Sex Lives of College Girls and is featured in the upcoming movie, The Devil Wears Prada 2, alongside Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt.

In the video of the interaction, now going viral on social media, Pauline was seen approaching Timothée at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, where the 98th Academy Awards took place.
Timothée stood up from his seat to greet her, and the siblings shared a smile and a few words. Pauline then gestured toward Kylie, who was seated beside Timothée. Kylie seemed surprised before praising her outfit and extending an arm to invite her into an embrace, which Pauline accepted.

After the interaction, Timothée and Pauline took photos together, during which the Dune actor whispered a request to his sister, according to lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling.
Hickling told The Mirror US that Timothée first checked in on his sister by asking, “How are you doing?” Then he leaned in and allegedly whispered, “Could you go easy on her? I want you to go easy on her.
Pauline responded with an “Okay,” as per Hickling.

Kylie was seen talking to others seated around her as the siblings posed for the cameras.
Timothée has been romantically linked to Kylie since around April 2023, and he publicly referred to her as his “partner of three years” at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards in January.
Viewers speculated whether Kylie and Pauline met for the first time at the Oscars

Despite Timothée and Kylie’s three-year-long relationship, Sunday’s interaction sparked rumors that the model may not have met Pauline in person before.
“Uhm, awkward. Have they never met before?” one person said on X. Another wrote, “My question is, are they just meeting for the first time?”
“Did they ever meet before? It‘s giving, ‘Nice to meet you,’” said a third.

“Pauline hates all the things the Kardashians stand for… so I’m sure it’s the first time meeting,” another commented.
“It seemed like she didn’t want to really get up and stand… that seemed weird,” one pointed out about Kylie’s reaction. Another said, “Kylie gave her a funny look before she realized who she was.”
As the video went viral, body language expert, Judi James, joined the conversation with an analysis that mirrored the sentiment of the netizens.

“The greetings between Timothée and his sister and Kylie look full of perfunctory signals and expressions of great surprise and even shock, as though she’s an unexpected arrival at the event,” James told The Daily Mail.
“Timothée and his sister look polite rather than excited and effusive in terms of using touch and affection signals,” she continued. “He bends in to greet her politely, but there’s no close sibling hugging here, and despite the fact that her man is standing to do the greeting, Kylie seems to be distracted.”
Pauline was previously accused of taking a swipe at Kylie using a Bernie Sanders tweet about billionaires, as Bored Panda had reported.

Timothée Chalamet’s recent remark about ballet and opera not only drew internet-wide backlash but earned him a rebuke from Steven Spielberg as well. It also made him the subject of one of Conan O’Brien’s jokes during the Oscars.
During an interview with Variety alongside Matthew McConaughey in February, Timothée said, “I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera or things where it’s like, ‘Keep this thing alive even though no one cares about this anymore.’”

“All respect to the ballet and opera people out there,” he quickly added. “I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I just took shots for no reason.”
“Security is extremely tight tonight,” O’Brien, who hosted the 2026 Oscars, said during his opening monologue. “I’m told there’s concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities. They’re just mad you left out jazz.”

James, the body language expert, told The Daily Mail that O’Brien’s joke earned a “maternal-looking warning expression” from Kylie even as Timothée appeared to be unbothered by it.
O’Brien got into trouble on social media for the joke, as people did not appreciate the segment with a musician playing a drum beat on a sculpted backside with a ping-pong paddle that followed his comment. Ping-pong, for the uninitiated, is the sport Timothée’s character plays in Marty Supreme.
