Uh, why are y’all down voting my previous comment? I clearly stated in the OP that Americans speak Spanish. I was trying to figure out why Rebecca reiterated it. I thought maybe because my comment referred to Puerto Rican Americans, she was trying to clarify it is spoken in the states too.

I live in Phoenix. I grew up next door to a Mexican man who was born in Arizona before it became a state. He only spoke Spanish. I asked him one day why he never bothered to learned English, he said “why? I was here first.”
