That's because Antarctica is extremely enlarged on classical maps with Mercator's projection, which is accurate for the shape of the coastlines but distorts the size of land masses as you get closer to the poles. Antarctica is actually quite the same size as Australia.

The map-loving subreddit has been around for quite some time now, celebrating its 11th birthday just last month. This online group continues to be one of the strongest and biggest cartography powerhouses on the platform that amazes thousands of people every day by sharing high-quality images of exciting and novel maps, plans, and geographic illustrations. And sure, it may seem that some of the visuals posted there are pretty nerdy, but that doesn’t make them any less fascinating.

The creator of this online group, Patrick McGranaghan, described himself in a previous interview as a "Denver-based techno-geek with a focus on all things geospatial and cartographic and a coding hobbyist with an emphasis in geospatial applications." He is a land surveyor and a member of #maptime Denver, Rocky Mountain Map Society, NACIS, PLSC, Charles Close Society, and Open Street Map Foundation, just to name a few. He decided to share his passion with the world and start the project in May 2011 while living in Taiwan, and he never looked back.

Poland - 1 year paid maternity leave + optionally up to 3 years non-paid stay-at-home (you can back to the same work after that). Options for fathers but not as great as in Scandinavia (still, there is a time for them also).

Slovakia (almost) same. During maternity leave you get 8 months 80% of your monthly salary and then we have “parental contribution” which is few hundred Euros monthly. Mother (or father) can stay home untill baby is 3 years old and ready for kindergarden.

That's why in my country the first 3 months of the parental leave have to be taken by the mother - because it's also considered her recovery time. The following 9 months can be taken by either parent. It's absolutely unheard of to send a baby to day care before they're 1 year old - that first year is always spent with a parent (usually mother, especially when nursing, but not necessarily).

In Hungary, the mother pays 100% of her salary for half a year, 70% of her income for two years before giving birth until the age of two, plus a token amount until the child is three years old, approx. you get $ 70 a month. if there are several children, the benefits are available in parallel, per child. most children are at home with their mother until they are three years old

Went to the UK recently (Dutchie myself) and saw a lot of people cycling but cars and bicycles share these roads (we have a lot of really separate bike lanes next to the 'road') and to me it looked absolutely dangerous! Some roads are too narrow for even 2 cars passing one another. And I could be wrong but I did not get the impression that many car drivers appreciate the people on bikes cycling before them.

It is like that in many places in Australia too (yet you are not allowed to ride on the footpath over the age of 14. Thankfully there are many areas that do have a bike lane, ones in my city (Melbourne) often separated by bollards or trees. There is still debate with lots of councils as to whether there should be more or less bike lanes. There is also separate bike paths which aren't along roads too in Melbourne, so you can ride from many places to the city, only seeing cars as you cross the roads at intersections. Many drivers and bike riders do have disputes though.

It's wild to think that the land masses have not been in the places they are now for very long. A mere few hundred years ago the world was a completely different place.

And now we literally have pictures of the entire planets surface that we can view with devices we carry in our pockets. We really are living in the future. The world must have seemed so huge when people didn't even know where the land ended and ocean began. It's so stupid that in the age of knowledge, of knowing the size and ecosystem and limits of the entire planet, is the age in which mankind destroyed it most.

When it comes to the way people think about cartography these days, the founder of the subreddit believes it is changing. "The previous generation was accustomed to paper maps that they used to navigate. This required skills in orientation and awareness that are no longer necessary with digital maps on mobile devices. Whilst there are lots of articles that eulogize the loss of these skills, I don't think it's necessarily all bad," he explained.

Patrick pointed out that we’re seeing another shift in response to the digital age. "The digital generation has a heightened awareness of how maps can visualize data. The tools to make maps have been democratized. This has increased interest in finding new and clever ways to see spatial data."

Atheism in America does exist and it is growing, but it is growing FASTER than the religious population while the religious population is declining. People are becoming disillusioned with our religious organizations, as none seem to be free of corruption, sex scandals and offensive political positions. This is leading many to leave their particular church, which in turn is leading to a gradual abandonment of belief. In my opinion, this can only be a good thing. What was appropriate for a society 2000 years ago or more, when we as a species were far more ignorant about literally everything, is not necessarily appropriate to today. I'm not saying everything about religion is bad (the whole "why not just be nice to each other" idea attributed to Jesus is a pretty good one) but the fact is, religions are slow to adapt to the modern reality, they thrive on maintaining an ignorant population, and religion is too often used to justify some of the worst in humanity.

There's actually a good reason for that: because religion was seen as something bad by the communist party, the church had an interest in helping to bring down that system. Being religious was a form of rebelling against the party ("an enemy of my enemy" situation). And in a lot of cases the new democratic governments had to pay the church for its support by promoting it quite a bit. [This is all obviously an oversimplification, but I hope it makes sense.]

This must be somewhat exaggerated in some cases, because some churches in Europe only open for funerals (or tourists). For example, in Portugal, no one goes to mass anymore (not even old people), so some churches have closed their doors permanently. Is this based on an old survey?

This was especially bad in what is today Germany. This was caused by the rather 'democratic' way of passing on wealth to the next generation where every child received an equal part of the inheritance which lead to this fractioning. This really r******d trade, as goods were taxed each time they passed one of these many borders, eventually making them unaffordable at their destination. To cure that they established the primo genitur, where the oldest son inherited the estate, the second son was established into the church, all subsequent sons had as their only options the military and/or alcohol. All daughters were either married off or stuck into a convent.

Most of those were not independent states, those were duchies under an unifying empire. Spain was unified under House of Trastamara of Castile save for a sliver of land in the south and Aragon. All the subdivisions shown were formal kingdoms held by the same person or family, subject to the rule of a single emperor. France in 1444 had been already generally unified for centuries, save for Normandy temporarily ruled by the English crown, under the consolidated rule of Charles VII. The German "states" were all under the Holy Roman Empire.

"These can be maps of elections, voting districts, gerrymandering, political recognition, voting patterns, etc. Social media is engineered to spur controversy and this is most apparent in hot-button political topics. Politically themed content will garner more discussion, controversy, and comments than most other topics."

Some of those remind me of my childhood. I don't know about now, but 30+ years ago it was very common for Aussies, especially in rural areas, to use the same words as England, so flamin', bleedin', heck etc. The favourite though seemed to be bloody, but some parents I know though even that was too rude to say in front of kids for some reason. Then there is bugger, which I cringed at as soon as I learned what it meant but was considered tame by many people.

I'd assume that's the case for most of these words and phrases? I can attest that the German "Scheibenkleister" is commonly exclaimed more like "Schei-! ...benkleister" - the first syllable is the same as the one for "s**t" an then you catch yourself and turn it into a more benign word. More creative than e.g. darn/damn but same principle.

The founder of the sub revealed that he developed his burning passion for maps very early and feels extremely grateful to have an activity he loves doing every day. "My family traveled and moved around a lot. My dad taught me how to read maps and I would help him navigate. I used to flip through our Rand McNally atlas to pass hours traveling across the countryside," he told us.

"Maps are invitations to explore and visit new places. They give security in the knowledge that there's a way to get to your destination. If all else fails, a map will be your guide." This feeling that Patrick has carried in his mind throughout his life was what inspired him to create a strong and knowledgeable community where people can share their ideas and excitement about the subject.

But their content is getting worse and worse. Most of the times I use Google, I have to wade through a disgusting number of ads. And now Google will search not for your terms, but what for what the algorithms predict your terms should be. And then prioritize those results, so that the search results are ridiculously generalized and dumbed down.

"Sometimes for navigation, sometimes for showing statistical phenomena, and sometimes for fantasy," he said. "While artistic skill helps, it is not absolutely necessary. The important thing is to make it easy for users to glean useful information. Most maps should have a thesis or a story it is going to tell and this needs to be told through the map."

In India. I believe having that rating itself is a miracle in itself given the population density and speak about all the religions that coexist within the borders. With neighbor's trying to provoke religious fanatism, and the use of 1 wrong word against certain religion would lead to amputations by that so called democratic sects. The religion with closer ties to terrorism doesn't spare democracies and twist them, and India is like a sauna spot for these elements. It's hard to be on the greater scale when you can fall prey to forceful religious conversion. I guess a lot of other factors try to pull down these factors. Economically strong authoritarian regimes enjoy the benefits based on the leader. They tend to bully subtle democratic neighbors. You know what I mean.

Just as a thought experiment, try imagining this: 1. What if the UN were the predominant military power in the world. 2. What if the UN declared that maybe a dozen states in the US had to be returned to the Native Americans. What would happen. People in the Levant have been slaughtering each other for millennia (probably at least 5 millennia in an organized way), About 2000 years ago, the Romans took a big chunk away from the Israelites/Judaites and incorporated it into the province of Palestine. Palestine is named for the people who were there before the Hebrew invasion. They were the "Sea Peoples" known as Peleset and Palesti in various languages. Then, 2000 years later, feeling guilty about WW-2, Europe "returned" a chunk of Palestine to form "Israel" without any legal rationale other than guilt. True to form (see Deuteronomy 20:16-17), the Israelis began oppressing and killing the Palestinians.

Well for example in Finland, traditional office hours are 8 to 4, so you are probably hungry after 4.30. But also when I was a kid we had the habit of having a small snack before bed, usually around 8-10pm, so the early dinner wasn't a problem. And anyway nowadays everyone eats whenever they want.

Spain uses CET because Franco, the Spanish dictator of the 1940s-1970s, wanted to make his country "closer to continental Europe" while actually meaning "closer to our allies Nazi Germany". The dictator is long gone, but when the discussion to change the time zone came up in 2018 the Spanish went "meh, good enough, why bother".

This is misleading as different countries have different meal systems. For example main meal in US is dinner, which is usually late afternoon/early evening and sometimes is translated in Polish as 'kolacja' (because of time it is served) and sometimes as 'obiad' (because it's a main meal). I think when doing research creators of the map was asking about 'dinner' which in Poland has been translated to 'kolacja', despite our main meal is 'obiad' which is served between 3 and 5 PM. 7-8PM is time of supper, small meal, sometimes cold (sandwiches, salad), sometimes hot. Lunch is not popular meal, known most in corporations, most of people eats 'second breakfast' which is sandwich or fruit, or yoghurt etc. So defo - time in Poland should be 3PM-5PM, not 7-8.

"It is not that they are bad," Partick said. "It's just that they don't know that they can make their maps so much better. I'm talking about things like fonts and information boxes, detail and vicinity maps, adding gradients to water features, thoughtful color choices, shadows behind place markers. The subtleties are what make maps exquisite."

All the highways where I live in Sweden have a median in between them. And you have to be 18 to get your full license. Also, driving with a minimum blood alcohol level of 0.02 is regarded as a crime, whether the driver is involved in an accident or not. When I moved here from Canada three months ago I noticed a lack of crosses on the sides of the roads. It's because barely anyone dies in road accidents.

Several states do not even have a mandatory driver ed course: South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Wyoming (basically all the dark grey here save 2) and others (most of the red ones), do not even require to attend a course. The states with mandatory and controlled training are all in the yellow-green zone (save for Texas and Florida, because... I mean, of course it's them). The legal driving age is lower, 16 vs 18, and in many states there are only minor limitation to what a 16 years old driver can do (in some states, such as Arkansas, no limitations at all).

4th: enforcement. The USA are BIG, and very, very empty. Outside of main cities it is not uncommon to drive for hours and come across maybe one sheriff patrol car. Speed control is rarely enforced, almost always by means of temporary speed checks or by officers in cars. Automated speed control cameras are allowed in only 24 states. There is a grand total of 6800 speed cameras in the USA in 2022. By comparison, Italy alone has 12.000, with Germany and UK at about 5-6000 each. Automatic cameras for red lights violations are even less widespread.

This doesn't surprise me. From what I see in the news and TV shows the US has really lax laws on driver training, they drive earlier, drive more and it's less socially unacceptable to drive after having a drink - something you just wouldn't do here..

If you look at places like New York, you begin to see the broader picture. There are more vehicle related deaths because we are more reliant on vehicles, therefore we have more so of course there will be more deaths. New York has a great transit system. Most countries in the EU do as well. Even California isn't as bad as a lot of the rest of the country because they have better transit systems in place. But when you have to have cars to get anywhere, there are naturally going to be more wrecks and casualties.

We do have a fairly high drunk driving rate, but, until the pandemic, it was on the decline and it is still so much lower than it used to be before we raised the drinking age to 21. The problem here is our dependence on cars and lack of robust public transportation. Drunk people are almost never going to do the responsible thing, especially when their options are so limited.

Could this be skewed because a much higher percentage of the population uses driving as the main mode of transportation? With the exception of big cities, public transport is not often a truly viable option.

I'm American, and we are flooded with cars with no public transportation and the occasional shady bus and infrequent train (that you have to drive to) that's probably why.

Factoid: North of the equator, your latitude is the angle from the horizon to the north star. Ancient navigators would use a stick with a notch at the top and a string attached at the mid point. At a port, they would hold the stick with the bottom on the horizon and the north star in the notch, they would tie a knot in the string where it touched their nose. It enabled them to sail west, out of sight of land, catch the trade winds, then sail east to make port using another stick.

THIS!!! This is why I struggle with the climate differences between where I was living in early 2020 (Anchorage, AK, USA) and where I am now (Kansas City, KS, USA). I basically moved from the latitude of Finland to the latitude of Spain! Living with highs in the 70s (F) for 13 years and moving to a place with highs in the 100s (F) is just too much for my system to handle!

Why is being a billionaire a disgrace? Bill Gates only got his money by giving us amazing computers. He only got rich by helping us. Adam Smith's Invisible Hand illustrates the point that people get rich by inadvertently helping others very well: "By pursuing his own interest he frequently promotes that of the society more effectually than when he really intends to promote it."

Portugal has AMAZING wine (and, as Carol O mentioned, it is cheap). They don't export a lot of it though (aside from vinho verde and a few others)... because they don't produce in large enough quantities to make it worthwhile. Instead, you have to go there to drink it :) which you absolutely should!

Depends on what 'food' entails; in The Netherlands, you most likely will be offered a snack of some sort. A full meal only when it's part of the appointment, because otherwise we don't have time to prepare something proper and enough for everyone (this heavily depends on the household).

It's just about visiting kids leaving before 6. I have offered em food and the parents wanted to pay me or said to my son: you should come eat here next time. It's not done to just drop by at 6 without an appointment and expect em to cook for you. My ex mil is Indonesian. She always made extra food. Everyone was welcome to just drop by, but her kids plus spouses plus their kids kept coming over at 6, hey free food and we hate cooking, and she got enough of it and one day kicked em out.

I wonder how they calculated "near". None of these wars are what I would consider particularly "near" North or South America. Maybe near in the "political interests" sense, but physical proximity, not so much.

The criteria used was 10,000 deaths in the last two years. The other wars are also important to remember but this map emphasises the large loss of life in the selected conflicts.

There are far more wars than even these going on, nearly 60 IIRC. Yet how many get media attention, and subsequently sanctions or support from nations across the globe? Why are some wars “more important” than others? Shameful IMO.

As Rachel said, the wars shown have more than 10,000 deaths. The others probably don’t. But you are correct, the media takes bias of wars happening in Europe and utterly ignores the ones in Asia and Africa.

I did find it strange. So, editing this to add accurate info with references. Most popular surname: "da Silva" ("da" meaning "of the", and "Silva" comes from latim, "forest, woodland"). Second most popular "dos Santos" (of the Saints). Btw, da Silva is in the 36th place in the world, and dos Santos 71st. A lot of them out there. References in English (this first link also shows the most common surnames in the world!!!) https://www.netcredit.com/blog/most-common-name-country/ | https://forebears.io/earth/surnames | https://forebears.io/portugal/surnames

It's a great idea for a stat. This could vary by avg earnings whilst the price for fuel remains the same or the other way round. The US looks to have the lowest number? I worked out how much we pay per litre and converted it into US Gallons (different from Imperial Gallons) and the cost to USD. We are now paying $10 for a gallon!!

Surely we need to know when this survey was taken. If it was done in the seventies, eighties or nineties, then I would hazard a guess that the percentage would be lower. For modern times, I would imagine it's far higher. The presented information is worthless without knowing to which age it refers.

Or more accurately a lot of African countries once having been considered part of France. Yes, colonialism if you like, but often granting French citizenship to the Africa population, hence allowing them later to move to metropolitan France.

And this is why Europeans find it ridiculous when any cinematography set in historical or even current Europe using dark skinned actors. I can count the amount of black people I have seen IRL on one of my hands.

Sorry, but there were a number of black people in medival and ancient Europe. For example slaves supplied by the Moors. It would be very unlikely to see one outside of the big trading hubs, but it isn't ridiculous.

It is very much aligned with colonialist practices of countries. Imagine if Europe was to pay FAIR reparations to all the African countries for all the wealth they had "seized" and damage done. They would practically have to give up their land to African nations.

right, but don't forget that the arabs also colonized all of north Africa, from the Arabian Peninsula all the way to Morocco ! and there were also wars among african countries way before europeans arrived ! " Slavery has historically been widespread in Africa. Systems of servitude and slavery were common in parts of Africa in ancient times. Slavery in historical Africa was practised in many different forms: Debt slavery, enslavement of war captives, military slavery, slavery for prostitution, and enslavement of criminals were all practised in various parts of Africa. Slavery was a part of the economic structure of African societies for many centuries."

Not really. The highest monthly average in Phoenix is 40, though the daily average in the hottest month is 35 (no, I don't know how the monthly and daily average can vary so much but I'm not a statistician). BUT the big difference is humidity. Phoenix averages 10-20% humidity, which actually makes a temperature feel cooler than it is. Places like Mumbai and Kolkata average *80%* humidity. With humidity like that, temperatures feel HOTTER than they are. (Ie, three days ago here in Toronto, it was 80 degrees. But with 100 humidity, it FELT like 104. Now imagine 104 PLUS high humidity. Take my word for it as someone who has lived in both extremely dry and extremely humid climates - there's NO comparison.)

There is a lot of conflicting information being fed to the US public. Far too much of it is misinformation, or a distortion of the facts that presents them as an opinion to be debated. Frankly it is going to take a massive disaster to wake some people up. Unfortunately, climate disasters tend to happen in slow motion and by the time they are bad enough for the public to realize the threat, it's too late to act. Just look at what we are seeing in the west with the massive drought. We have major metropolitan cities like LA and Las Vegas as well as large agricultural areas in danger of running out of water. We've known about the problem for years, but it was barely an inconvenience for so long that the public interest in dealing with it simply didn't exist. Now it's pretty much too late and it will take a miracle to fix it.

... that old "not me, everyone else" that has spared me of lung cancer. Usually, people learn too late. Nowadays, as the acceptance of scientific facts, which are as close to being proven beyond doubt that they're called "beyond reasonable doubt", and that rightfully, is a political statement considered to be "leftwing" or "unamerican", and therefore, the too-late-learning that used to safe our collective asses at least partially is likely to fail a lot longer and a lot more damaging. We still do not act, by any means, according to even just the best-proven AND at the same time most optimistic outlooks on the near and mid future (some years ahead), and continue to contribute to the damage done, while avoiding damage always is some orders of magnitude easier, more efficient and effective, than repairing any damage.

There is a lot wrong with this map. Both Hawaii and Oregon are at least derived from native words/names. I believe the same is true for Tennessee, not 100% sure though. Rhode Island literally means "red island" and is not named for another place, it's named that because of the prominent red clay of the area. I have to question, what tf is the difference between "derived from Native American names" and "European modification of native names"? If it was derived at all, the Europeans did it, therefore it was modified by the Europeans. They're the same thing.

New Jersey was named after Jersey, one of the Channel Islands off the coast of Normandy. After Charles I was beheaded, they immediately proclaimed his eldest son, Charles II their rightful monarch. After the Restoration in 1660, to honour their loyalty, Charles’s II renamed the state to say thank you.

I think the map prioritizes the safety of the US Citizen in that particular country. I think in the case of where I'm from, it's accurate because even though it's relatively safe for us as local citizens, foreigners who are perceived "rich" can be targeted.

They used to be served it a way that allowed them to be eaten while walking. The change is probably that now you order for a large group so everything is in together and the fish you would use a knife and fork for I'm guessing. Also, definition of street food might be bought from a street vendor rather than resteraunt.

Yup. Lots of immigrants from Asia and the other Pacific Islands have settled there. Much more than the previous US and European immigrants. Plus the indigenous population is one of the youngest, having only settled the island around 800 years ago (compared to other US indigenous populations which date back up to 15000 years or more) and began experiencing immigration influx about 200 years ago. That lead to a long term decline in indigenous population, bottoming out at around 50000 people at one point. It has been recovering and the current population is about ten times that.

True enough. My ELCA pastor, back when I still went to church, once talked about the sacrament of baptism. ELCA is famously one of the most permissive and inclusive sects - they have female pastors, gay pastors, and no baptism requirements. If you're baptized as a baby, cool, you're part of the fam. If you choose to get baptized as an adult, cool, let's do that. If you go your entire life and are never baptized, you can still take communion and receive every sacrament including the heaven thing because according to them humans cannot ever earn God's grace, it is just freely given. So if you've ever been baptized as a Catholic, Baptist, Methodist - any Christian sect - even Islam - ELCA Lutheran pastors will tell you not to bother getting baptized again because you're so good to go. BUT. If you've been baptized as a Mormon and want to switch to Lutheranism - it is a highly recommended baptism because Mormonism is the one faith that mentions Christ that is considered "blasphemous".

Seriously, most Brexiters opinions abou tthe EU are woefully uninformed. they are complaining about the European Court of Human Rights now that they have said the flights to Rwanda should be held until a judicial review has taken place. "Why do we have to listen to the ECHR now that we have left the EU?" is a very common comment made on all the news sites. ECHR is nothing to do with the EU.

I have been touting this very same idea to anyone that will listen here in the UK. The thinking behind it is, that you should have the option to take part in the democratic process by saying 'none of these candidates have impressed me enough to earn my vote'. In theory, this should prompt future candidates to do more and work harder for those they represent. Currently, these politicians have the luxury of being able to put non-participation down to 'voter apathy'. Which I think is a terrible thing considering that democracy is not a given right and in many cases had to be fought for.

Most of those tanks were inoperative anyway. 5k maximum battle ready, and many of those were not. The explosive reactive armour was not even fitted to most.

The Western Cape (tiny red bit there by South Africa) qualifies because the majority population in the Cape is Coloured people. "Coloureds are a multiracial ethnic group native to Southern Africa who have ancestry from more than one of the various populations inhabiting the region, including Khoisan, Bantu, Asian, the Pacific Islands and Australasian areas as well as European. South Africa's Coloured people are regarded as having the most diverse genetic background of all ethnicities." - Wikipedia

Unfortunately, there is already an archaic law on the Michigan books that would restrict abortions and even if Whitmer and state AG would refuse to enforce it, they will not be in office forever. As soon as an anti-choice candidate makes it to office (let's face it, it can and will happen some day), all bets are off.

They don't have Pro-Choice laws enshrined, but they also don't have state laws banning abortion. They rely entirely on federal law, and if anything ever changes it'd be up to their policy makers to create any changes

Just plain restricted. As in no time to prepare or seek other options, and banning it before existing federal laws would allow it. And since it will be left up to the states it will quite literally be a patchwork of laws ranging from an absolute band to those that still ban but allow for the woman's life

There should be some restrictions on when women should be able to have abortions. I don’t know what they should be but I do know that once a baby has a developed brain that can feel emotions and pain abortions should be banned. I actually know a couple people who have memories from in the womb. Once the baby’s brain develops it’s not the womens body’s anymore it’s also the child’s body

What an official and unofficial holiday is and means varies from country to country. Some will declare it a stat. Others have a moment of recognition in their house of government or a party. In Canada, people post about it on Facebook. In Italy, at least in Venice, museums were half-price for women that day when I was there.

Long , dark winters in the rural north contribute to their dark blue color. Also, and this may just be a coincidence, at least from Michigan to the west that's a lot of people of Scandinavian and German heritage.

It’s because the majority of Utah citizens are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (more commonly known as Mormons) and stick to an honor code called the Word of Wisdom which prohibits them from eating and drinking certain things including alcoholic beverages, and caffeinated hot drinks such as coffee and tea.

I would keep the system we have. Its inconvenient for the 2 weeks each year while we all adjust, I know I worked at 5am on weekends for years and dreaded "spring forward" but at least here in Minnesota if we had no DST the sun would rise at 4:30am in June. Thats WAY too early, not everyone in this state milks cows.

As an American, I disagree. While we do elect our representatives, our choices are decided by the major political parties, which reduce a multitude of candidates down to two, and the winner is whichever is "first past the post," meaning that most politicians were not elected by a majority. We need ranked choice voting (with the elimination of primaries and caucuses). If a candidate can't get more than 50% of the vote, than they shouldn't be holding office at all.

This map isn't accurate. We have a lot more public land in Massachusetts than just the tip of Cape Cod. We don't have many federally-declared public land, but only because we have lots of state-declared public land.

True, but in the game Russia had a hacked US satellite that they used to mask their entire invasion force from NATO, thus launching a massive world wide sneak attack that caught everyone with their pants down. And then Captain price saves the day and kills Makarov, the mad man behind it all.
