I get what you mean but I think that, being Ukraine a "hot topic" right now, it's more likely (or at least it should be) that some people would search a little information about it, especially after it's been a month now, all media are talking about it, etc... I honestly couldn't locate -let's say- Wyoming on a map but if suddenly a war started in Wyoming I would look it up.

Only one US state is larger than Ukraine (Alaska, and at that, only marginally) and none have an equal population. Definitely none have as much impact on the global news cycle right now. Doesn't seem a fair comparison. But I imagine we'd be flummoxed by South America or South East Asia.

US states are not equal to European countries. European countries have provinces within themselves too.

In a rush, i could only indentify... Florida, Texas, California, Hawaii and Alaska. Anything else would be very difficult.

Ukraine is a country, not a subdivision of a country. 90% of Europeans could find the USA on a map. That seems a particularly crass comparison when Ukraine is currently fighting for its independence.

I wanna see the map where US-Americans are asked to identify the federal states of Germany. There is a huge difference between knowing where a country is and knowing parts and their location of one country.

Some random state would be hard, but if we want similar situation then if Mexico invaded Texas and we were asked after that to pinpoint Texas on the map Im pretty sure we would do ok :D

Bad comparison. How many Russian oblasts can you point out on a map would be the equivalent to US states.

I'd be able to get Texas, California, Hawaii, Alaska, Florida... probably Washington (State) and possibly Montana. Also New Mexico and Michigan. The rest would be hit-and-miss. (Mayyyyyybe I'd get Louisiana, too)
