No human being is the epitome of perfection. Since society is made of human beings, it too is imperfect, and we seek to remedy as much as is possible of our imperfect world. Through our art at Happy Impulse, we seek to critique society in a way that inspires others to get out and get things done, rather than to sit back and go with the flow.

In other words, Happy Impulse is an only anarchy approach on today’s issues. In our view, greedy capitalism belongs in the dustbin of history, global warming sucks, and weed is lit. We think that mental health ought to be given the importance that it deserves and that LGBTQ+ rights are human rights. While others promote disinformation, we counter this with art that encourages people to rebel against all that is wrong in this world.

No matter one’s race, sexual orientation, or gender, we believe that everyone can make a difference. The more we talk about these things, the more we draw about these issues, the more change we’re able to bring to the world around us. Simply put, in rebels we trust!

IMHO, the worst part is that it is totally unnecessary. It wasn't escallating tensions and legitmate grievances that led to this, just one old man's desire to return to the "glory days" of the Soviet Union.

The saddest thing in my opinion is, he is taking Russions with him. Instead of them slowly gaining momentum and earning more and more wealth - the common people - they keep their dictator unaccustomed to dare to think for themselves and unable to see through his lies and his stealing of the national wealth trough his cronies... Just very very sad. I really wish the Russians themselves would deal with him. The way the Romanians did with Ceaucescu. Just quicklier.

It's sad but I think a lot of people relate more with others who look like them. It's easier to feel sympathy or empathy for a being that looks more like you. I'm just saying this could be a possible reason but you're right it really sucks that the same amount support is not there for people with black and brown skin that are suffering these same issues all around the globe.

Putin is an angry toddler who wants back what he thinks was his to begin with. The fact that the “sick man” (people of Ukraine were asked if Putin was crazy they said “he’s not crazy, he’s sick”) has been bombing everything in Ukraine civilian buildings and that the news thinks he might have used chemical weapons against Ukraine, Putin doesn’t give a flying F anymore. I don’t know if he ever did. Why can’t some brave crazy person who is an excellent shot go and shoot him in the Fing head. I saw on the news that he had a meeting with Belarus, there should have been a sniper point on his head and he should have been taken out. Biden finally calls this a genocide and yet we do nothing but sit back and watch people being wiped out by this man. We are just as guilty of killing the people of Ukraine as Putin.

I thought about the war and NATO for a while, and I came to a conclusion that Europe could have stopped the war on week one if they wanted to, but since their own country is at the top they don't care much about Ukraine. Also the money that you people donate goes the army for guns and all. It doesn't go to refugees. L

My name is Roberta Hall and I create work under the alias of "Happy Impulse". I'm a rebellious illustrator, with some kind of anarchy and happiness sold separately.

I started illustrating because I was tired of being quiet in a world full of problems. And naively enough, believed (and still do) that art can change and shape the world, or at the very least start a conversation.

Eat The Poor - Fly To Space

Eat The Poor - Fly To Space

The richest 1% of Americans are responsible for 70% of all unpaid taxes. The wealthy and corporations are gaming the system, pointing the finger at the very people they’re stealing from.

The wealthy criminalize the homeless, so they don’t have to house them. They criminalize drug addicts, so they don't have to face substance abuse as a public health problem. They criminalize the poor, so they don't have to address wealth inequality.

The existence of billionaires is predicated on the exploitation of human labor and unsustainable environmental harm. Reducing the amount of money in circulation, destroying economies.

And they will continue to do so until we have a wealth ceiling. A different world is possible.

Yes! Check empathy-lost greed addiction led insatiably increasing gross mass abuses enabled and encouraged in imperial dysfunctional structural dynamics, in imperially pyramidally rigged economy, so society, culture and ecology, bullies pandering up, sidling to bullidom, loyalist heroes scapegoating, marginalizing and novelizing to abett gross exploitation of all. There is much to learn in all this by looking at the rolls of abusive addict led systems in families, the science of greed, and empathy loss, imperial disconnect to keep the status high, how such addicts begin to feel favored by the gods, then perhaps sons of god, doggedly seeking and seeking to keep their demi-goddery, delusions of pseudo-immortality. All this bringing us through slavery to mass impoverishment, for profit mass incarceration, over consuming and contaminating quickening ecocide, into mass extinction. The one percent doesn't want to pay taxes. Well they need to be cut off from certain services. Then they need to build and manage their own fire stations, police stations, military protection, sewage and waste management teams, street and sanitation service, hospitals, health clinics, and grocery stores. Because this is what the 99 percent taxes pay for. Therefore these services need to only be available for the 99% and the homeless who are unable to pay taxes but would if they're resources wasn't going into covering the debt the 1% percent put on just because they feel they're too important to pay taxes. Your multi million dollar mansion is on fire, oh well sucks to be you, the fire department has to rescue a cat from a tree belonging to the 99% civilian who pays taxes. Put it out yourself with the money you got from a tax break.

That was the situation before the French revolution. The poorest payed the most taxes and higher you went, less taxes were payed. And in time... Heads were falling. Many many heads. It would be wise the upper 1% would start paying and perhaps prevent repetition of history. Envy of the people who have nothing left to loose is a very dangerous force. Was seen several times in many countries in the last century.

Or maybe the politicians who wrote the amazingly complicated tax laws to enable their own wealth are to blame. Being angry at the rich is ludicrous. They are obeying the law your elected wrote. And just as an aside, the bottom 50% usually pays 0, everything withheld is returned and many times, their tax return is more than they paid in. Just to be fair.

The bill is not "don't say gay" that is a construct that disinforms people. The bill limits what can be taught to children under third grade and establishes parents as primary overseers of their own children, not a teacher Even gays are against this misrepresentation. Gays don't want some straight white teacher deciding that a child is gay because he likes purple. This is too young an age to deal with these concepts and has led to a child be pushed into believing they are something before they can even understand it.

Exactly, we have to protect children from undue influence and indoctrination. That's why I'm pushing for a bill that will ban schools from talking about romantic relationships of any kind. Children are too young to understand those topics, which confound even adults. What if, for example, a kindergarten teacher says she has a husband? She is clearly trying to steer her pupils into a life of heterosexuality without consideration for the impact on them. They might become confused and start to think that one day, perhaps they too might like to marry a person of the opposite sex when they're far too young to understand what marriage really is. Better just to never talk about it at all. That way, kids will never be confused or have inconvenient questions that adults might find difficult to answer.

Because sexuality =/= sex. Sexuality is about who you love, and we want any of those kids who might grow up to be gay to never hate themselves for who they are. If those little kids grow up and are gay, or bi, or lesbian, they will have learned from an early age that "if a girl likes another girl, or a boy likes another boy, that's okay".

The issue here, seen from both sides, is one of morality. On the one hand, gay individuals do not want to be disrespected and do not deserve to be. I can't stress that enough. But on the other hand, parents have the right to raise their children according to their own values. Again, mistreatment of any human being regardless of their views is wrong and I am not advocating that. I am simply saying that there are many people out there, myself included, that believe that same gender intimacy is morally wrong and they have just as much right to teach their children that. People naturally fear what they don't understand. Though slow, the most lasting and effective change will be brought about by developing a mutual understanding founded upon respect for one another and our beliefs as fellow human beings.

Believing someone's love and existence is morally wrong is still bigotry, no matter how sweetly you put it. If you teach that to your kids, and they grow up to be gay (it's not a choice) then you will have taught them that their feelings, the way they are as a person, is wrong and bad. Do you really want that on your conscience?

    Not Your Ashtray

    Not Your Ashtray

    Corporations are not people.

Or rather, we are not corporations. Not us, anyway, who can’t afford space tourism amid a global pandemic. We can’t be corporations. We don’t spill millions worth of oil into the ocean. We don’t emit hundreds of tons of greenhouse gasses. And we sure as hell don’t have massive marketing budgets to tell the world “this is all your fault.”

Corporations have treated the planet like an actual ashtray and turned it all on us. Their greenwashing campaigns and sustainable missions may free them of guilt (and give them huge tax incentives). But that all falls on us as we stress to recycle their toxic products and host river cleanups to minimize our tiny footprints.

So what can we do? Well, it’s still on us. But it’s on us to hold corporations accountable. To vote. To make our voices heard. To support our communities. To redistribute wealth. To help our neighbors. To live simply. We can make change. But when it comes down to it, we shouldn't have to.

It's so easy to break something especially when you aren't on the hook to fix it. Consider how much money lumber mills make by flattening a forest. Then consider how much money environmentalists have to raise in order to save even one species that relied entirely on that ecosystem. I think it is not only much more difficult to fix once broken, but ridiculously more expensive. But the ones who broke it, keep doing what their doing because periodically they may have to pay a fine. But that just the price of buissness and if they murder the odd journalist who is getting to close to talking, that will help with their profit too. It's disgusting and it's killing us all in their short sightedness.

The websites like Facebook, YouTube and, yes, even Bored Panda make money by selling targeted advertising. They get that by selling data they collect about you to advertisers. This shows that you don't understand how this actually works. Does the women's team generate the same exact amount of capital that the men's team does???? No? Then they don't get paid the same. Now if it were a corporate issue where a woman generates the same revenue and does the same work then so be it. But you can't just arbitrarily affix wages to someone because of gender(after all isn't that what we're fighting against?). In all for women being paid WHAT THEY EARN...

Still pushing false information. How many times does this outdated "fact" need to be identified as false before it goes away? Won't take the time to reference the multiple sources to disprove your error, just research it outside of your bubble and see what's out there.

Colorado State University had an audit of tenured faculty, an the pay gap between men and women who on paper were equal in experience and stature was averaging 2:1 in favor of the men. As of 2019. Instead of saying it's old hippie b.s. and that we need to cite our sources...how about looking at some statistics on your own...preferably not Fox News

I could be wrong, also are you comparing the average pay of a male to a female? Men are more likely to get a better job but also do more manual labor that is potentially dangerous, for example a construction worker, and therefore get paid more because of the danger.

Do women really not understand why we make a few cents less? We have so much more work freedom then men. We can leave to take care of children. Call in sick for period related cramps/migraines. When hired its a chance that we will be leaving on maternity leave at some point for undetermined amount of time. We have freedom of speech that men don't...well, not as much anymore with the snowflake culture. Do some research and soul searching fellow ladies. I used to be outraged too until i realized that we actually have many more rights at work than men. Lastly, i make the same as my male counterparts and you prob do too.

I can appreciate the messaging of not waiting for things to get worse before taking action. However, anger is not a productive energy to put forth towards the creation of a new preferred reality. Success is reached more fully by putting your energy positively towards what you DO believe in. Take those steps in small unwavering ways and watch change unfold naturally. If you are angry but do not know what you prefer to replace the current reality with, then you are lost and need to connect with your inner Truth.

It stops so many shut-ins and reclusive people from being lonely :) The key to social media happiness is sticking to your own and friend's profiles. People choose to get involved in all the ugliness. Trust science? Absolutely. Corporate America? Not so much. The CDC recently cut recommended quarantine time down to just 5 days for breakout covid cases—right after major corporations said “pretty please?” Now, the working class is in an inevitable catch 22: protect yourself from covid, or protect your paycheck. Wow, I'm hearing a lot of defensiveness. I'm a white, cis-gendered, WASP in the U.S., & the point of recognizing privilege isn't to feel guilty. It's to open one's eyes to others' realities. Having privilege doesn't mean you've had an easy life. It just means your race (or religion, or country of origin, or orientation, or sexual identity...) hasn't made it harder. The POINT of recognizing our own privilege is to then USE that power to improve conditions for everyone. Pretending institutional bias doesn't exist is helping no one.

Explain to me why they've decided to start shaming people in the opposite direction instead of just not shaming anyone at all. Oh you're awhile person? How DARE you! You're a straight cis human? You should be ashamed of yourself!! I don't get it. Why can't we all just agree that people are born the way they're born and just let it go? The most beautiful conversation I've ever heard between a parent and child was while I was at work. A little girl had asked why some people were black and some were white. He mom responded with a question of her own. "Well, why do you have blonde hair and your dad has brown?' "I dunno. That's just how I was born." "Well there you go then." And that was that. No one should be ashamed of genetics they didn't have a choice in. No one should feel bad they like one gender or another or even none at all. Instead of pointing and shouting "Privilege!" Why don't we just work to treat EVERYONE equal?

    Chey Monks
    Community Member
3 years ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

The question is why do you feel ashamed 🤔. No one is saying be ashamed they are saying acknowledge your privilege. The fact that acknowledgement makes you ashamed my speak to a different problem. It may speak to the fear that the people in power with privilege are afraid that if we keep moving in this direction you will lose your power. The thought of that probably makes you angry and afraid so you subconsciously project your negative feelings on what is causing you discomfort.

No it is not. You don't know the definition of racism so I will educate you. "prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized." with that definition in mind how is saying that your skin tone is a privilege prejudice, discriminatory, or antagonizing. Privilege isn't a bad thing it is a neutral fact. There are also many types of privilege. Having healthcare is a privilege that is a fact, having clean running water is a privilege. We need to know our privileges so we can act not take them for granted and act with empathy to those without the privileges we have.

It's an American night terror now. The American dream is sold to the highest bidder. 1%.

"Life is short, though I keep this from my children.Life is short, and I’ve shortened mine in a thousand delicious, ill-advised ways, a thousand deliciously ill-advised ways I’ll keep from my children. The world is at least fifty percent terrible, and that’s a conservative estimate, though I keep this from my children. For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird. For every loved child, a child broken, bagged, sunk in a lake. Life is short and the world is at least half terrible, and for every kind stranger, there is one who would break you, though I keep this from my children. I am trying to sell them the world. Any decent realtor, walking you through a real shithole, chirps on about good bones: This place could be beautiful, right? You could make this place beautiful."

I disagree with the "half terrible" statement. There is more good than evil, the evil is just louder.

I agree that there is more good in the world. But the evil seeks to take advantage of the good. Evil has the power to corrupt people by putting people in horrible circumstances. For example a poor black kid in a ghetto. It's so hard to stay straight and so easy to go bad.

To me the sexism in makeup isn't that society says it makes you "prettier" but that it's double standard. Women get called less pretty when they don't wear it and men become social pariahs when they do. So if we could leave women and men that want to wear it alone and focus on making women that don't wear it feel valuable that would be awesome.

I feel like a lot of people misunderstand the concept of BLM. Saying that black lives matter is not invalidating the lives of white people, Hispanic people, Asian people, etc. but rather to point out that there have been a lot of instances where nobody *needed* to die, and a black person died anyway, which isn't okay. ETA: M M might have the right idea though

It's actually been shown that the smoke blown out is worse than what they initially take in. There's a filter they get, and the s**t from the cigarette is blown with all the partially used smoke they inhaled. So you get filtered and unfiltered. Along with carbon dioxide. It's bad for everyone, but especially those that have to deal with the secondhand smoke.

The Doomsday Clock is currently at 100 seconds, the closest it's ever been. If if ever reaches one minute, that probably means we can stick a fork in our civilization, it'll be done.

The Doomsday Clock has been around for over 60 years and is always closer. Let's give up on this mode of fear and talk about the issues instead. We need to stop using hate and fear to replace discussion and consensus. I'm all in to fix issues just not using these methods of fear and hate to accomplish it.

To me this one makes me think how cheap charger cables will charge your electronics, just as ramen will charge you, but the cables are such crap that they're constantly needing replaced or don't do a great job of fully charging (hence $.99 or 99%), just like ramen is cheap crap food and doesn't do a great job of fully charging your body and providing nutrients.

I think it was New Zealand that passed a law that each year the age limit will advance. Meaning there is now a generation who will never grow old enough to smoke, because the age cut off advances as fast as they age. I think it is a fantastic law that. But it has had a lot of pushback and debate at least on the online forums
