Some Time Ago I Challenged Myself To Create An Origami Crane Every Day For 1000 Days (New Pics)
After having folded and decorated origami cranes daily for 1000 consecutive days (see my previous post on Bored Panda), I took a short break, but I could not stop creating new ones, even though no longer on a daily basis.
I am allowing myself to explore more themes and techniques, and to find inspiration in even more places.
These are some of my latest creations. Some are inspired by things like Greek mythology and Japanese folklore, while others come from the joy of nature, or personal experiences.

Then there's me trying to make a paper airplane .__. You're so good at this! It takes so much patience to do this. Heck, I throw my piece of paper when I can't get it even! :D

Panda 🐼; I am collecting 1000 origami cranes for my daughter Amy ( with well wishes inside) to help raise her spirits while she is being cured of Acute Lymphblastic Leukemia and recovering from a stem cell transplant. Would you be willing to make one of your fantastic crane creations ( with a well wish inside) for my daughter?
Absolutely gorgeous, so intricate your cranes are so beautiful, your skill is fabulous.
Thank you! I was wondering about the cuts, clearly contradicting the rules of origami.
Load More Replies...Beautiful — but I’m confused. I thought with origami one began with a single sheet of paper. How can there be so many colors? Please explain.
This beautiful work is Kirigami (not origami) - Wikipedia: Kirigami (切り紙) is a variation of origami that includes cutting of the paper, rather than solely folding the paper as is the case with origami, but typically does not ... more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirigami
This is breathtaking! And the colors... "The world is made by artists, and art makes life worth living." ~ Catherine Todd
This is probably more Kirigami than Origami. According to a couple of websites, "Kirigami is similar to origami in that it is a form of paper art. The major difference is that in origami, you fold paper whereas in kirigami, you fold and cut paper." Still gorgeous!

you cut in this one. I can tell because it has holes. You can't do that without cutting.
Roger, this is called Kirigami (not Origami). Wiki: This article is about the origami variation. For the documents, see Kirigami (Soto Zen). Kirigami (切り紙) is a variation of origami that includes cutting of the paper, rather than solely folding the paper as is the case with origami, but typically does not use glue. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirigami
Load More Replies...OMG!!!!...this one is GORGEOUS!!!! I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to have this one. The colors are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!! I would even make a shadow box to put it in. SO AWESOME!!!
Just incredible. I wish these were shown without the talented hands of the artist, though. Perhaps in a clip of some sort. Worth framing.
i love looking at other people's insanely beautiful works of art, this is seriously amazing. yeah it makes me feel like i suck tbh but still this guy's awesome.
How do you get each wing to be 3-D like that? What kind of tools are being used?
I'm no expert, but I'd say a magnifying glass, tweezers and an X-acto knife for starters. Some sort of round stick like a knitting needle to create curves.
Load More Replies...Now, this would be something I would want to wear in my hair if I ever get married. I'm 49, never married, and I doubt that it's ever going to happen. But THIS IS GORGEOUS!!
Wow, just stunningly wonderful, the artistically of it. Amazing! I agree Lyndsey, A winter Spirit.
Where / how do you even begin to learn how to do this?? These are beautiful!
okay, question- after he made 1000 of these things, what the actual hecky dizzle did he do with them? first of all they probably take up a lot of space considering there's 1000 of them but also they're so delicate so they have to be placed in somewhere safe. I AM CONFUSION
Just to know the fact that it would take me a million years to do just one fold.
Can you imagine something like this actually living breathing and flying...wow!
My Mom would love this one, she got married on Halloween about 24 years ago.
Gorgeous!!! This could be used as a brides headpiece or on a flower girls hair. It could even be used when young girls wear all white and accept their first communion (I think that's what it's called). It's beautiful!!!
Some people are so damn creative! Upvote, people, UPVOTE!!! He deserves your votes!!
I love this black and gold one. 2 of my favorite colors. It's simplistic, but that is part of what makes this one so beautiful. Love It!!
Did anyone else get Fullmetal Alchemist vibes from this one? Just me? Okay...
Just WOW!!! Would look good in a brides hair, flower girls hair, for going to church, etc. And all of these could be turned into wearable pins as well.
Dragon crane? Love the thorns up the spine. So carefully thought out and placed.
Gorgeous!!! My daughter would love this one because she was married on Halloween (just like my Mom) but my daughter's wedding was only 4 years ago and they love dragons!!
Gorgeous!! This one must have been hard to make and very time-consuming.
I love the half skeleton. Kinda like how sometimes even the most beautiful things are just hanging on in hopes of a better time...
So beautiful and creative!!! I love the anatomical work you've included in some of these. I know a few paleontologists and biologists who would snap some of these up in a flash (or as lasar cut kits?) if you ever decide to move that way. Thank you so much for sharing your talent!!!!!
at first i was going to vote down (really, how ould anyone vote down with these lovelies??)but i looked again and i love the whimsy!! bravo!!
I know there is some strong meaning to the red envelopes....but I don't know what it is. ( the cure for ignorance is to ask questions ) Please someone tell us ?
They confer good luck - oh and typically contain cash for wedding gifts or New Year gifts.
Load More Replies...OMG...LOVE IT!!! This one reminds me of some of the Native American crafts that I make. I would love to have this one too. BEAUTIFUL!!!
I absolutely LOVE this one!! I would be willing to buy many of these. This one and the one above it were my daughter's wedding colors. Of course, I would love to keep both of them for myself, (but eventually, she would try to talk me into letting her have them). And, of course, as a loving Mom, I would end up letting her have them. Or maybe give both of them to my daughter and son-in-law as a gift on their wedding anniversary. Do you sell them?? And how much do you charge for them?
i love how the simplicity contrasts with the detail. wow that made literally no sense.
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! This is another of my favorite colors (all shades of blue). It's also my daughters FAVORITE COLOR, this color and silver were her wedding colors. And it's my Aunts favorite too, her entire bedroom is shades of blue. Any blue that reminds her of the ocean, but especially this shade. LOVE IT!!! I want this one too.
I love all of these. And these are only 50 out of the 1,000 that you've made. I would love it if you could get back to me regarding my questions on whether you sell them and how much do you sell them for. ???? Also, I make a lot of crafts myself. Such as jewelry, staffs, decorated horns, wands, and a few other things. The staffs and horns are decorated in the Native American style. Some of the jewelry is as well. I also use gems, stones, and crystals in a lot of my work. And I have also done custom work, the customer's select certain items that they want in their piece, and I incorporate those items into my art. So I'm also willing to trade my art pieces for yours. Please get back to me. I REALLY LOVE your art. I look forward to hearing from you.
GORGEOUS!!! My daughter would love this in silver. I would love it in gold and silver or any other color. It looks like a combination bird and butterfly. So Beautiful!!!
For me it is transformation in progress, ( from plant to flying thing....or the other way around ? )
Load More Replies...Love this one! For me it symbolizes creativity and works in progress, but still gorgeous along the way.
Yes, you have to get your hands dirty - or in this case, get your teeny tiny bird dirty.
Load More Replies...I like the details of this with a holiday feel. Beautiful color combination and details very unique.
I really like them all, but this one does remind me, or some reason, of Gladys, the scary picture made by Phoebe on the TV show Friends. It had a mannequin half coming out of a painting? I wonder what he could do with paper snow flakes? Absolutely beautiful!
Load More Replies...I LOVE YOUR ART!!! I left you a message on #29. Please read it and get back to me. And Thank You for sharing your beautiful art with all of us. They are breathtaking!!
All of these are pure beauty. I have seen a few bigger one but none so delicate & intricate . Would love to learn the art of this
I think each & every one of these are so Devine! Absolute perfection (true origami or not). Each one so unique & special. I wonder if he sells them? I certainly can NOT imagine my fingers making anything that comes close to these masterpieces!! Spectacular!
I'm sorry, but I don't believe this is origami, I'm not saying it's not pretty, it's absolutely stunning, but, this isn't oragami
Creativity knows no bounds. Call it what you want.
Load More Replies...I did a similar project for my sick friend. She had lung cancer and was told she did not have long to live. I had just read Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes and got everyone I knew to start making paper cranes. For her birthday we hung up the cranes in her room while she went out for dinner with her family. She lived despite what the doctors said and she thinks it is because of the 1000 paper cranes
That is a beautiful story, thank you for sharing. Best wishes to your friend
Load More Replies...these are incredible, however they are kirigami, not oragami, but personally i like kirigami better and these are magnificent
Thank you Kraken for that word; Kirigami. And yes Magnificent.
Load More Replies...As I understand it - Origami is the art of folding a single sheet of paper into a complex three dimensional shape or figure - no cutting. Have had an origami frog bought from a street seller for 20 years. Have resisted the urge to unfold and work out how it was done.
Load More Replies...I think probably magic because it's obviously impossible.
