It’s important to note that the main character syndrome is not an actual condition. It’s rather a term that refers to someone who acts as if they’re the star in the movie about their life. And spotting such people is quite easy. They’re always at the center of drama and believe everyone from their manager to their neighbor is a villain or simply there to support their leading role.

Reed argued that presenting different aspects of themselves in different situations and contexts to highlight aspects of their personality is entirely acceptable. "In fact, this may make social interactions easier and safer."
But in contrast, "those with main character syndrome seem to want to be somebody else entirely. So, while almost everybody will self-present, to some extent, not everybody has main character syndrome."

OMG. The first man we know of on my family tree had information of first name, last name, approximately birtyear, property number, how much land that was, how many cows he owned, name of male child and his birthyear. And lastly "un namned wife". So 3 cows instead of his later 5 cows were more important to mention instead of the wifes/mothers namn? Nice. (Obviously sarcasm)

It is common to have a person's name and dates on the front and something like beloved wife, daughter, mother, etc on the back. I can imagine this might be a very loving memorial.

I'd like to see the other side and possibly the others as well since they seem to be together before completely calling this guy as a POS, but it wouldn't surprise me. My sister and I have trying to fill out our family tree over the last few years and we got a copy of our great grandmother's obituary. Back in the 1940s, she was killed by an idiot driver who took the small hill by their farm way too fast and didn't realize it curved and hit her in her own driveway. The obituary talks about her accident, her funeral, and the rest of her family. Not a single time does it actually give her first name. She's always "Mrs (great grandfather's name). Her mother and four sisters are also mentioned and the only female to get a first name was the youngest because she wasn't married yet. Not sure whether it was written by family or the newspaper but either way, as my sister put it, "she wasn't allowed to be a person even in her own death".
Is this the back of the headstone and the engraving is on the other side? I have seen the blanks at the engraver's that are set up for family members to choose from. Some of them were like this where the back said Father, Mother, Dad, Grandma, etc.... And the front is where the personalized engraving would go.

Reed also mentioned it could be suggested that main character syndrome "shares traits with psychological problems, like narcissistic personality disorder, and any disorder involving delusions." While this might only be the case for a minority of people, "this type of fantasy can lead to behaviors that eventually mimic those seen in personality disorders" if it becomes too rooted in the person's mind.
He continued: "Escape-maintained fantasy behaviors may also be a severe problem for those vulnerable to developing psychological issues, like anxiety and depression, and not just personality disorders."
