I believe that when humans die, they may sometimes return to be with their loved ones the loved one may smell their aunt's favorite perfume or hear someone whistling just the way their granddad did. I've read a lot of about people hearing a dog walk across a floor & flop down right where their pet always slept or hear something else that sounds like their departed pet. Just because the picture doesn't show the other dog doesn't mean he wasn't there lying beside his friend.

Dogs and cats do mourn the friend they had, my cat did this for such a long time I was amazed, finally I had to get a buddy for her, thank God she recovered !!!

Except when things go wrong. Dogs are clumsy goofballs so it's kind of expected but when a cat slides on a placemat and tries to stop itself from falling off the table it's priceless.
