When Harry Reveals That He's Alive In Deathly Hallows Part 2, George Turns To Excitedly Tell Fred, Who's Normally Always Next To Him
To this very day, I still have to fast forward through this part in the movie and skip over it in the books. I can handle death after death in the Game of Thrones books, but Fred Weasley will always get me every time.
The Phelps twins, the actors who portrayed the Weasley twins, said that after Fred's death, they were both called upon to portray George in remaining scenes, and frequently can't tell which of them is on screen.
Snape's First Encounter With Harry And His Secret Message
"One of the questions Snape asks is if Harry knows what would result in adding the powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood. Harry doesn't know the answer, but that's not the important part.
This is actually a coded comment that would be lost on all viewers that don't have an extensive knowledge of Victorian-era flower symbolism. Asphodel is a lily, which means demise under the Victorian flower code, while wormwood reflects loss and absence. Snape is actually referencing Harry's mother Lily with this comment"
Harry doesn't know the answer... but Harry *is* the answer. Snape equates Harry's father to Wormwood. Harry would be the result of adding the powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood.
That’s kinda rude because it’s hard for Harry sometimes to hear about his parents
In The Harry Potter Films, Voldemort’s Robes Faded In Colour Every Time A Horcrux Was Destroyed, To Give The Impression He Was Slowly Fading Away
Which makes his death in the movie all the more stupid. The way he shattered was just daft. He should’ve just died like a normal person would have, something he would’ve hated (but something that would’ve shown that his power had faded away as had his reputation).
Small details like the Cheeri-Owls cereal and how the Beauxbatons students are dancing the Macarena were completely new to me. Though I knew some of the other bits of trivia from having watched dozens of YouTube videos about HP theories, things people might have missed, and unusual interpretations of the source material. (Don’t go down that rabbit hole if you plan on doing anything productive today. Trust me.)
Fun fact, the scene where a wizard’s reading Stephen Hawking’s ‘A Brief History of Time’ in The Prisoner of Azkaban inspired a very popular piece of fanfic, Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, about an ultra-logical and super geeky version of the Boy Who Lived.
In Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone (2001), You Can See A Portrait Of Anne Boleyn Hanging In The Staircase. Anne, A Wife Of Henry Viii, Was Accused Of Being A Witch, And Subsequently Executed
"Henry Viii" would probably behead the author of that autocorrect algorithm :D
It's annoys me soooooo much that they changed the name for Americans. Why?! I'm sure they were able to adapt The changing of Thomas the tanks engine voice also drives me crazy!!! They don't change any other voice (Eg the Scottish or Asian engines) but change the English one. Sorry I know that is not relevant to this particular post but I needed to rant.
As the mother of a 3 yo I feel your pain regarding Thomas the Tank. Made the mistake of putting on Netflix one instead of prime once. Can't believe everything is exactly the same apart from Thomas's accent. Why even?!

Harry Potter Intros Become Darker Every Year, Just Like The Movies
I always loved this about the movies in general. The entire color palette changes from one movie to the next.
I wished they'd made more of the Potter movies in colour rather than murk-o-vision.
The End Credits Of 'Goblet Of Fire' Feature This Magical Disclaimer: 'No Dragons Were Harmed In The Making Of This Movie'
Now I have to read through all the credits, searching for 'dragøns trained by', and see if anyone got fired for it :)
I know this is off topic kind-of... BUT.... In Frozen, the end credits say something like "most viewers believe that Kristoff picks his nose and eats his boogers." If you know the exact text, please tell me!!
Even though the Fantastic Beasts movies are [ahem] not as Stupefying as the originals, they’re still fun to watch. The 3rd FB film should come out in November 2021. We’re still unsure about the plot but we do know that at least some of the action will take part in Brazil.
I don’t know about you, but I like to binge-watch all of the HP movies at least once a year. And with everything that’s going on this year, I think it’s about time for some magical escapism and to Accio ourselves some popcorn. It might be the 100th time we’re watching the movies but this time, we’ll keep an eye out for hidden details. You’d better watch out, You Know Who!
In 'The Sorcerer's Stone' Scene Where Neville Gets A Remembrall, He Can't Remember What He's Forgotten — But It's Probably His Robe, As He's The Only One Not Wearing One
Neville is actually the other boy who lived. He and Harry share a Birthday. Ofcourse he destroys the last harcrux that Voldermort knowingly made! If he had not the whole thing would have ended differently!
Load More Replies...Actually his robes are on the seat next to him. You can see when the camera pans. He forgot the password to the common room.
he amazing in the 7 movie! he was so brave! i never saw this! but you spot so amazing things! but some times they wear it like this some times!
In 'The Sorcerer's Stone,' You Can See Mcgonagall's Name On The Quidditch Trophy Right Next To James Potter
That's not HER though, I thought the same at first, but the age doesn't match this is from the HP Fandom wiki page: "M. G. McGonagall was a Gryffindor student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the early 1970s. They played on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, winning an award for it in 1971, which was displayed at Hogwarts on a plaque that also bore the names of James Potter and R. J. H. King. McGonagall may have been related to Transfiguration teacher Minerva McGonagall. It is possible that M. G. McGonagall is one of her nephews or nieces from her two brothers, Robert Jr and Malcolm. "
HER NAME'S PROBABLY ON THERE BECAUSE SHE'S THE FRICKIN GRYFFINDOR HEAD
Load More Replies...You're right about the dates, the first Wizarding war started in 1970, at which point McGonagall was already a professor at Hogwarts so she couldn't have won the Quidditch Cup as a student in 1971
Load More Replies...OH MY GOD DID YOU EVEN WATCH THE MOVIES! This is the 3rd blatant error in your list! She was a teacher in 1971, not on the damn quiditch team
I had noticed that one but had questions as to whether it meant (Professor) Minerva McGonagall, a relative, or another unrelated person entirely.
that cant be minerva mcgonagall becuase she wouldve been like 70 years old
Miscast then - she’s clearly an old lady whereas James Potter looks mid-40s at the oldest. No way they were at Hogwarts at the same time!
That could be the year she took over as House Quidditch teacher.

In Sorcerer's Stone, Hermione's scarf is tied neatly and completely around her neck, Harry's is loosely thrown over his shoulder, and Ron's is just laying flat and open and not wrapped at all. Often with their ties, Hermione's is tied perfectly and tucked in, Harry's is loose but tucked in like he's been messing with it, and Ron's is completely untied.
I always knew there had to be something about the way their scarves were tied differently.
apparently this was becuase they were asked to wear the uniform to reflect the character
wow i never would thought such a little thing could be something huge personality!!!
In Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets (2002) Before Harry Gets Sucked Into Tom Riddles Diary, He’s In A Candle Lit Room. When He’s In The Diary, Everything Is In Black And White Yet, We Can Still See The Candle Light Flickering On His Body
I have two theories: Harry is still out of the diary but sees differently, or the cast added a special effect and kept it on. Either one of those or the cast was defying reality.
it maybe because it was in old times. pictures were black. but harry's time they have color in everything!
In 'The Goblet Of Fire,' A Reflection Of Nagini Slithering Can Be Seen In The Warner Bros. Logo
OMG I NEVER NOTICED THAT!!!!!! (Watches all HP movies until she gets to... ummm... Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II)

In The Background Of The Cafe In Deathly Hallows Part I, There’s A Poster For The Play “Equus” — A Real Play That Starred Daniel Radcliffe And Richard Griffiths
In 'Prisoner Of Azkaban,' Newt Scamander Appears On The Marauder's Map
It has been mentioned that Newt was a close friend of Dumbledore's. It's not surprising that this was included here at all; in the 1990s he was visiting Hogwarts to arrange a potential muggle version of Fantastic Beasts. This would have aligned exactly with Harry's third year.
Y'know what would be even cooler? If we somehow find out that Newt's actually stuck in stasis somewhere in Hogwarts and this turns out to be an "intentional" easter egg.
Theory: Newt loves Beasts and Dumbledore had called him to see Buckbeak
Okay guys, I have not done a movie marathon in a LONG time... pls explain this.
In Snape’s Death Scene, There's A Gryffindor Scarf Hanging Up In The Background, A Reference To His Bravery And Dumbledore Saying He “Sometimes Thinks They Sort Too Soon” In The Books

No, but he did do other things that were brave. It's possible to be brave and also be a bad person.
Load More Replies...I'll agree it's a nice touch. I don't agree that Snape was brave, though. Snape, by the end, impressed me as a Nice Guy who refused to accept Lily didn't want him and moved on, and as a man who kept his childhood grudge against James Potter burning because, ultimately, HE STOLE LILY!!!!11!!!1!1!ELEVENTYONE!!!!1!111!! and he was SO BURNED she'd chosen Potter over him when Potter had tormented him. Snape, fueled by jealousy and envy, struck out and ended up getting Lily killed, and he played the martyr by teaching--something he absolutely never should have been allowed to continue to do once it became clear how abusive he was--and being the occasional spy because he Must Suffer for Hurting His One True Love, and when Harry came to Hogwarts, he took out the Butthurtz he had towards James on Harry. Any protection he offered Harry, he did it because Penance, not because protecting a child is the right thing to do and stopping Voldemort is absolutely the right thing to do.
Everything must be black and white, no grey characters, eh? I must say I'm glad he's not a Gary Stu.

Cool. Wait...does that mean that Ron and Harry were still getting regular haircuts?
Yes, there is a scene of Hermione cutting Harrys hair.
Load More Replies...Some people ask how they could wait so long between scenes, for the hair to grow out, or say that it's wigs...it's neither. They started filming with Hermione's hair long and filmed the latter scenes first, then cut her hair and filmed the middle scenes, cut it again and filmed the 1st scenes.
In 'Prisoner Of Azkaban,' A Wizard — Played By Stone Roses Frontman Ian Brown — Is Reading Stephen Hawking's 'A Brief History Of Time'
He's also arguably the strongest wizard we ever see. He's able to stir his tea just by pointing at the spoon. No wand required.
In 'Order Of The Phoenix,' There's A Wizarding World Version Of Cheerios Called Cheeri-Owls
I want these. They probably taste like rubbish though as food in the wizarding world is very limited. It’s either made of pumpkin, sugar or copious amounts of meat. Yuk.

Load More Replies...This movie scene in truth has always disappointed me. In the books this was in my humble opinion, is the most powerful scene in the entire series. This scene unravels the mystery of why Voldermort is truly afraid of Dumbledore. As a boy, he was an orphan that had nothing to his name, no family, and owned nothing of value. To him the few posessions he owned he valued above all else. This is where I believe his fascination with rare objects he valued above all else and uses for horcruxes is born. One day out of the blue, an old man comes and tells him he's special and in fact, he's a wizard; but he's not the only one. He accepts that he is special strait away but coerces Dumbledore to prove his abilities in desperation to see proof that there is someone else as "special" as himself. Dumbledore in his omnicence then sets his wardrobe on fire, and in this one action threatens to destroy everything that Voldermort holds dear, everything that he cares about, and is utterly powerless to stop.
At this, Voldermort goes absolutely berserk and feels so extremely vulnerable that this man is lording over him the power take away what's most important to him. Dumbledore then in one fell swoop removes the flames and returns the situation to as if nothing has happened, informing Voldermort that not only will he be taught to use magic, but (even more importantly) to control it. Simultaneously learning that he has stolen some objects that he prises very, very dearly. And to add insult to injury tells him he must return these stolen objects. Before their meeting Voldermort is very rude and coercive. But after, he is rather polite and cunning. This small series of events as his first real exhibition of magic being such a drastic and emotionally traumatizing experience for him is what places that initial seed of fear in his heart and explains plainly the constant reference to "Dumbledore is the only one he ever feared" so well. In the movies, the child actor fails to snap commandingly...

In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2, Snape Is Still Helping The Order Of The Phoenix When He Re-Directs Mcgonagall's Spells To His Fellow Death Eaters
Never noticed that! Poor snape when I first read book 7 I felt so bad for hating on him :(
Why? he’s still a jerk. Don’t let a few good deeds outweigh all the bad. I like Snape but let’s face it, he chose to terrorise those kids. He was a sour faced bully until the very end.

Chamber Of Secrets Has A Post-Credits Scene That Reveals The Fate Of Gilderoy Lockhart

I was curious when Ralph Fiennes began playing Voldemort (a role he almost turned down). Google wouldn't give me a straight-ahead answer, but I found that several actors portrayed Mr. V: Ralph Fiennes Richard Bremmer (flashback, film 1) Ian Hart (voice and likeness, film 1) Christian Coulson (teenager, film 2) Hero Fiennes-Tiffin (child, film 6) Frank Dillane (teenager, film 6)

In The Deathly Hallows Part 2, You Can Spy Lucius Malfoy's Azkaban Prisoner Number Tattooed On His Neck
Did u just watch the films or read the books as Well? Draco was given the supposedly impossible task of killing Dumbledore so he would fail and be killed, as punishment to Lucius for screwing up getting the prophecy and letting the diary be destroyed (and another example here of Snape being good, as you commented earlier on him; he made the unbreakable vow to protect Draco from this at the risk of his own life). Also Voldemort took over Malfoy mansion and terrorised them. That's why Narcissa was willing to lie to Voldemort that Harry was dead: the sheer terror they had been through meant they didn't care about helping voldemort they just wanted to find Draco.

In The Chamber Of Secrets, You Can Spot Gilderoy Lockhart's Second Wig On His Desk
He probably wasn't bald, he probably wore a wig because he wanted his hair blond and it was black or red or something. But that would be funny. And either way, why would he need a wig? He's a wizard, even though he's terrible at magic, he can just hire someone to use a spell on him to turn it blond

There's a full deleted scene of this where Harry complains that he'll look like he's wearing bits of old elephant skin, right before he gets the post. It also explains why Dudley is wearing his ridiculous uniform in this scene.

Load More Replies...Dentist, however, doesn't make sense. Various pureblood wizards have to have what a Dentist is explained to them.
why they have a dentist option on the MAGIC clock when they don't know about dentis??
I thought wizards didn’t know anything about dentists. As I recall Hermione explaining it to the class in Half blood Prince
If they dont know what the dentist is (as denoted by Hermione's awkward conversation with Slughorn) then why is it on the clock....
JK Rowling always worked a few books ahead (evidenced by The Deathly Hallows symbol Easter egg in the fourth movie despite the book not having been released), so JK probably thought it would be entertaining to throw it in there
