Whilst protests in America have erupted over the past few years, there’s one recurring character taking his own message to the streets. You might recognize Seth Phillips as the guy in sunglasses holding a cardboard sign and protesting random things, no matter how weird or strange they are. But the best thing is, we can relate to most of what this NYC protestor has to say.
So, if you’ve ever felt like your voice and opinion doesn’t matter in the vast world, then ‘Dude With Sign’ is here to prove you wrong. He calls out the annoying things that we wish we had the guts to tell others. Yes, there should be more chips and less air in bags! H-hey, first-world problems are still problems, o-okay?
We collected the very best of his funny protest signs, so scroll down and enjoy! Let us know which ones you agree with the most from this unsung hero. When you're ready, check out our second collection of Seth's brilliant signs as well.

Charging $15 For A Bowl Of Lettuce Should Be Illegal
Oh this is about to hit some nerves. Same with Apple, have you guys seen their pattern of change everything just to make you buy it again for no other reason than profit? lets see if the down votes pour in because I know at least half of you have fallen for this.
Load More Replies...If people were charged that much for their lettuce and the money went down the system equitably, farm workers would get paid a lot better!
yes.... i agree with the idea.....but Unfortunately the farmers and farm workers won't be seeing any of the extra money being charged
Load More Replies...Sweetgreen is an awesome, very giving company, and their huge, delicious salads are between $11–$13, not $15, and definitely not just a bowl of lettuce. I'm happy to pay that for the quality of their grain bowls and salads.
The truth is if people paid the real cost of labor, a salad at a restaurant would be much, much more expensive.
Especially 'Wedge salads'. 1. A wedge of iceberg lettuce has no nutritional value. 2. I have to cut it myself, yet it's kitsch?
You can't blame a business for the stupidity of its clients, just as you can't blame influenzas for the stupidity of sheeple following them.
I really don't care if you can afford it or not. That is criminal.
I disagree. There are many other places that charge less and you are free to go to any of them. This one seems a bit unfair to the restaurant.
I looked up sweetgreen restaurant in New York City on Yelp. There are several of them. Many Yelpers are fans, but here's a choice quote about the one in the Financial District: "I love sweetgreen but I found a piece of cardboard in my Harvest bowl today.. I paid $17 - got charged extra $5 because I switched for the blackened chicken instead of the chicken breast- and paying that much to find trash in my meal, it's not acceptable." Also, if you make your own salad, you're restricted to two types of greens plus four add-ons, not counting "premium" ingredients which must cost more. At Souplantation you can put tons of stuff on your salad, plus get soup, breads, baked potato, dessert etc. for significantly less than $15.
True, but it IS one weird sign of how the market works and it kinda kills the mood and stresses already stressed out ppl who live in cities giving them the feeling that they are 1. Not good enough 2. Stupid So yeah. Freakin stop selling lettuce for 15$
Load More Replies...And two dollars for a Diet Cola that has NO nutritional value either
If you think workers should be paid $15.00 an hour minimum wage, then put up and shut up!
That lettuce has traveled a great distance, been washed, cut/prepped, combined with the other ingredients that aren't lettuce, and finally dressed... None of that is free. Taking the extreme nature of rent in New York, it should be more expensive actually.
Paying somebody $15 a hour to put lettuce in a bowl causes prices to go up.
Staff need to be paid, rent , utilities, cleaning supplies, are built into the cost of restaurant food. Want cheaper, eat at home.
One of the reasons for obesity in the United States is the cheapness of unhealthful food and the high cost of healthful food. What do you expect when a hamburger costs $2 while a salad costs $10?
I can make it at home and it costs less. People stop being so lazy.
Anybody willing to pay that amount for lettuce is nuts. Go to your local grocery and buy a head of iceberg lettuce, it's going to be a lot cheaper... pfffttt...
There are some annoying things that I can relate to here and want to call out too. Nobody wants to watch a dozen video stories of you at a concert, seriously. And to the guy that keeps hitting 'reply all' on our company emails: you need to stop. You’re fighting the good fight, Seth — keep it up with your funny protest signs, this is how we make changes in the world.
While protesting random things does give us a good laugh, the role of humor in peaceful protest culture is no joke. According to one study, humor helps frame political protests, aids in creating a social movement’s collective identity, and is a powerful communication tool.
Put More Chips In The Bag
Look at the amount of ounces on the bag. That is what you're getting. The air is to protect you from getting a bag of crumbs.
Stop Standing Up When The Plane Lands
I'm 6ft6. I will stand up at the earliest possible moment (when the seatbelts light goes out) so I can unfold my legs. On longer flights, I even prefer to stand during the flight.
There Should Be Snow Days For Work
What’s more, humor energizes protests and brings protesters closer together through shared positive experiences. To put it simply, humor and funny signs are a weapon of the people and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
There are many innovative ways to support a cause that you care about. So, when you’re done looking through this list, check out Bored Panda’s previous articles about an Indian painter who highlighted awful roads by pretending to be an astronaut, as well as about a woman who showed her managers that wearing high heels as part of dress code is incredibly uncomfortable when you're working for 12 hours per day.

If you protest in a jungle and there's no one to see, did you even protest?
Load More Replies...Some people have too much time on their hands. But he is very creative.
Nice job, good original illustration on modern day life. His facial expression is also typical. Slightly amused but it does not show, boarderline angry or paranoid with good reason... all in all we all tend to lose the smile or any emotion in our faces cuz we let ourselves be bombarded with so many facts and s**t. Like this post, he nails some stuff. And now he should throw his phone away and go into nature for a month, make love to a nice person and meditate.
I think he should do one like 'Facebook, stop suggesting random strangers from around the world to be my friends'
I do get snow days off from work. I get paid the full day to sit home, eat comfort food, play video games, and drink Sailor Jerry. Neener Neener.
"Telling people what to do via crappy cardboard signs should be illegal"
Maybe doing research. Writing a book. Doing it on a dare. I can think of more, but I don't presume to know why he's doing it.
Load More Replies...I love this guy, he makes sense to me and if people are going to protest it should be for things like he protests. Kudos to you!!! You are the king of protests.
Sure, let's just give up on cultural progress. Women could still not be allowed to vote with that kind of attitude.
Load More Replies...This guy is great. Wish I knew his Grandma so she could set me up on a date with him.😉
