50 Dogs That Are Absolute Units And Don’t Know How Big They Are (New Pics)
Interview With ExpertThere is a saying that all dogs are puppies, but some of our canine friends decide to push this idea to its very limits. I’m talking, of course, about the largest boys, the most sizable specimens.
We’ve gathered a selection of the biggest and cutest dog pics that netizens have shared online. We also got in touch with Katlin Longfield, owner of the 2Husketeers to learn a bit more about big dogs, keeping them, and other cute stories. Children's Hospital Of Los Angeles' Best Therapy Dog Ever - My Mom's Dog Bonner
My dad freaked out one time when he met a Newfie because he thought it was a bear. :) It jumped up on the side of his car and he thought he was being attacked.
We had giant breed dogs for 20 years, they are the absolute best! They all think they are lap dogs, and they all have the biggest hearts.
Knew a family with, not one, but two Newfies. Beautiful, big home with lots of land for the behemoths to run around. But the walls, cabinets, and furniture had to be cleaned of flying drool constantly.
He May Look Like A Bear But He Identifies As A Lap Dog
That's not a Newfie. They don't come in cream/white as a standard color, and its flews aren't droopy/long enough. I think it's a Great Pyrenees or a Pyr mix :)

This Good Boy Did A Heck Of A Grow This Year
Bored Panda got in touch with Katlin Longfield, the owner of the 2Husketeers and she was kind enough to answer some of our questions. Naturally, we were curious to hear her story about getting into dog ownership and content.
“I just got my first mirrorless camera back in February 2016, and I started practicing by taking a lot of photos. My muse being my dogs of course. I was posting a LOT of dog photos, I mean who can really get enough? Well, I think my friends and family were, so I started a dog Instagram account and @2husketeers was born. If you scroll WAY down, you can still see the first photos I posted on my account. I've come a long way and still have lots to learn.”
DNA Came Back - 93% German Shepherd, 7% Unidentifiable. We’re Guessing Grizzly Bear
I have two shepherds like this. Full German shepherds. The big ones are "old fashion" European straight back shepherds vs smaller American sloped backed shepherds. My male is a long coat at 130 pounds. The female is at 110 and still filling out at 11 months.
Yes!! My old GSD, my heart-dog, was from German working lines (vom Rhein/Adler Stein Kennels) and was straight-backed and HUGE for a female. She was 90lbs at full growth and VERY tall. She was also dilute - cream and silver instead of black and tan. She died in 2010 and I STILL miss her :( If I ever get a purebred GSD again (I currently have a GSD mix and a Malinois) I want a straight-back. The roached-back dogs make me so sad :(
Load More Replies...Don't know how the rest of you feel, but I want to bury myself into this fluffy dog.
Not a Shiloh Shepherd - those are just mixed-breed GSDs and the other breeds used to create them (mostly Malamutes) would have shown up in a DNA test. Maybe Ovcharka or another Central Asian Shepherd type? That is a DENSE pelt and a heavy muzzle XD
Maybe give it a good brushing, spin the hair into wool and knit yourself some new socks, because...DAMN!
We had an Anatolian shepherd that shed literal shedloads in spring and fall. We collected it and eventually did make a sweater. It was toasty warm.

It’s technically animal abuse since there is no advantage. It is purely for aesthetic reasons.

Cropped ears are illegal in the UK, don't understand why Americans think it's acceptable
Think for a moment - this creature is huge- was not designed by nature to live on polished floors with rugs, and cabinets with sharp corners- BUT - looks totally comfortable and competent here. How CAREFUL he/she must have to be every second- and - he/she is totally successful at it. I'm filled with admiration.
I love big dogs....our last dog was a very big yellow lab who weighed 130lbs (not fat...just very big) and we had to put him down at 12 years old simply because he couldn't use his back legs anymore. It broke me and I decided if we ever get another dog I want a medium sized dog who, if healthy, could live way past 12. Many big breed dogs have an 8 year life span and that's just not enough for me.
Given the massive popularity of cat content online, we wanted to hear Kairlin’s take on what made dogs interesting to so many people. “There's nothing better than a dog when you are having a bad day! Second to that is dog content. Nothing brings a smile to my face more when I scroll and see cute dogs in my feed. There's something so fun, innocent, and entertaining. Plus, I want all the dogs but since that's not realistic, I can see all the dogs on my socials.”

It's not a purebred Bernese Mountain dog, no. Berner AKC standards call for a tri-colored dog (black/tan/white.) It might be part Berner, maybe mixed with Rottie, or St. Bernard, etc.!

PSA: Don't crop your dog's ears and don't buy from breeders who crop their dogs. Docking is acceptable in certain situations (i.e., in Dobermans it can be acceptable to help prevent Happy Tail syndrome.) There is no "immediate" medical need/reason to crop a dog's ears. Some livestock-guardian breeds (such as the Kuchi Dog) are still regularly cropped in their native countries, in order to prevent predators from damaging the ears, but if your dog is just going to be a pet, then you're a complete tool if you crop its ears/buy a cropped puppy for vanity reasons.
Earcropping is banned in Germany, home of the Doberman.
Load More Replies...There are a lot of comments here about ear cropping, and I totally agree with them, but remember that sometimes these animals may be rescues and the person showed here may not be responsible for it.
I absolutely agree. I hope I did not come across in my comment as accusatory towards OP - they absolutely could have rescued/adopted the doggo already cropped. This is fairly common, especially with pit bulls as many unscrupulous backyard breeders crop them so they look "tougher".
Load More Replies...Um, I may be wrong, but aren't these the kind of dogs that killed that poor woman in San Francisco? I think her first name was Diane. She lived in an apartment building on the same floor as the dog owners and she was terrified of those dogs that eventually killed her.
Load More Replies...Unfortunately, many rescue dogs already have this done to them prior to adopting them. Mine did. I doubt he did this to the dog by choice.
But for a long, long time, tail docking was legal in the UK even when cropping ears was not.
Load More Replies...Cropping ears can help in some breeds prone to recurring ear infections, or sun burn/cancer (white dogs like dogo argentinos for instance)... I don't think this is cruel when done properly. I've seen many happy tail syndromes too; miserable for the dogs and owners. This is a lovely dog that is obviously very well cared for, so let's not bash a good owner.
Oooh I love this one! This looks like my biggest baby boi! Unfortunately, his ears are cropped as well, but he came from a puppy mill & all the pups were already cropped & docked. 😕

He looks delicious, clearly fresh mozzarella as opposed to that kind that comes in a kinda dry, salty block.
No. Maremmas have much denser coats and their coats are not curly like this dog's is. They also do not have feathered muzzles. This is a Doodle of some kind; Standard Poodles are VERY large dogs and when you crossbreed them into designer mutts (which is what all Doodles are), you can get very large doggos. I'd guess this is a Labradoodle or a Pyrdoodle judging by the ear shape and coat color.

Absolute Unit Of An Alabai Dog
Perfect dog if you have criminal tendencies....you'll always have an Alabai. 🤓
I hate that this breed of dog is usually sold with very closely cropped ears, they crop them almost down to scalp level.
I normally do not approve of cropping (or docking.) However, there are certain situations where it is done for an actual legitimate reason - in livestock guardian breeds, like this Alabai shepherd, the ears are cropped to prevent predators from damaging them/ripping them off during fights when the dog is protecting its flock/herd from said predator. I do not approve of cropping for vanity reasons (like when people crop their pet Dobermans or pet Cane Corsos), but a working livestock guardian dog can benefit from cropping as it prevents future injury.

Load More Replies...I always wondered, with dogs large enough to easily reach the counter how their owners keep them from getting into things. Obviously you can train them but our goldens are very well behaved and they still sometimes can't resist the temptation. Can't imagine how tempting it would be for a dog that large, being able to have all of the food right in front of his nose any time he steps into the kitchen.
Watson Turns One This Month. He’s My Big Boy
When people adopt doodles, they are often unaware that their coats are NOT "easy to maintain" - they are often somewhere in-between a Poodle's waterproof, thick, harsh, curly coat and the coat type of whatever the other parent breed is - which can make grooming a nightmare (or mats to form rapidly if the dog is not brushed/groomed regularly.) Watson here looks like he is well-maintained! But it's something that people should be aware of when considering adopting a doodle - they ARE mutts and are not "standard" breeds with standard coat types.
As a dog groomer who does at least 1 doodle a day, I 100% agree. And you never know what their coat is going to be like. I spend half my time shaving down severely pelted/ matted pups because they weren't brushed at home. And often it's the same dogs over and over again.

I was thinking along similar lines. A dog that big is not going to be held back by her if it wants to take off after something (cat, squirrel, mailman...). To be fair, a dog that big probably won't be held back by a guy either, unless he's built like the Mountain. Friend had a big Mastiff cross thing that tried to chase something while on a walk. I love big dogs. My husband liked small ones. We compromised on corgis. Big dogs with no legs.
I love large breeds. My current dogs are a 2-year-old German Shepherd/Kuchi Dog mix (who is disabled from having distemper as a puppy) and an 8-month-old Belgian Malinois. The GSD mix is around 60 lbs (he would have probably topped out at around 100lbs if he hadn't had distemper) and the Mal is currently 53 lbs. I hope to have a Dane or a Mastiff someday! <3 I just wish they had longer lifespans :(
We got addicted to greyhounds. They are pretty long lived for such a big breed, but if course if you rescue an ex racer they are already maybe 5. I met a whippet puppy at the pub last night, I just love a long dog 😍

I'm guessing the poops will be to scale. I'm thinking swing bin liners over regular poop bags?!
Feed a raw diet. Smaller poops and longer lifespan.
Load More Replies...People want them because "big dog = more joy" but they underestimate the cost of food and training and hell, eventually cremation for these guys. (I only bring up cremation because I just lost my 16lb cat and it was $10\lb to cremate him, so if you apply that to a 150-200lb dog ...) My point is, understand the needs of the breed you're getting. If you adopt a mystery dog and it surprises you, thats one thing. But do your research before investing in a huge breed dog
Those cremation costs are insane! And why? My Anatolian - is buried under a tree- they'll both like it that way. Sounds like a business opportunity to me! "Happy Sleeping Grounds" for urban pets and happy growth for forests... :-)
