When you welcome a smol awoo into your home and heart, you don’t want to think about the day when it grows up and loses its puppy fat. But the day comes when your pupper grows into a dog. And keeps growing. And growing. And doesn’t stop. You check the Canine Instruction Manual that came with your pet and you finally realize—aha! You forgot it’s one of those giant dog breeds that make you think Clifford, the Big Red Dog might be real.
Bored Panda has collected photos of the biggest, most playful, floofiest, and young-at-heart dogs that you’d want to hug all day long and get lost in their fur, so scroll on down and give the bestest boys and girls a boop on the nose with an upvote. Is your soul yearning for some more giant dogs who don’t understand how big they are? Check out our previous big doggo posts about canines who forgot their size here, here, and here.
However, just because a dog is big, it doesn’t mean that it has to be obese (aka a chonky chonk). All jokes aside, if you want your family pet to live a long and happy life, it’s vital that you help it stay lean and avoid entering the ‘overweight zone’ which requires extra effort on your part. Bored Panda spoke about canine fitness and doggo diets with the UK’s leading vet charity, the PDSA. Read on for our full interview with them if you want to learn how to help your dog live a quality life.

The PDSA explained to Bored Panda that a dog’s food is “an essential part” of their fitness. So you can’t just focus only on getting lots of movement—you need to give dieting and nutrition some proper attention, too! Similarly, you can’t get just the diet right while ignoring the importance of exercise.
“Making sure they are fed on a complete diet which keeps them at their ideal weight is important to keep them fit and healthy. As a general rule, we tend to give our pets too much food which can lead to obesity and reduced activity levels,” a representative of the PDSA told Bored Panda.
Here's Another One Of Our Rescues, Yuki
A bad dog owner dumped this wolfdog at a kill shelter when he got too big and too much to handle. Luckily a sanctuary took him, instead and saved his life! His DNA testing came back as 87.5 % Gray Wolf, 8.6 % Siberian Husky, and 3.9 % German Shepherd.
Big Dogs Can Be Scared At The Vet Too
Once A Lap Dog, Always A Lap Dog
It’s better to err on the side of too little food than too much when we’re living in a society of overabundance, then. What’s more, you should do a bit of personal research to learn what the ideal weight for your dog breed is for its age. If in need, talk to a professional to get their take on what’s what.
Getting serious about health means putting in the time and energy to make your dog’s life better. And that means treating your pet’s health like you would your own if you’re all about fitness. So get your kitchen scales out!
“The best way to monitor your dog’s food intake is to weigh both them and their food. You can discuss your dog’s weight with your vet and check their body condition at home. Once you have a starting point and know what their target weight should be, start weighing and monitoring their food and treats to see how much they’re getting,” the PDSA said.

“You might want to try weighing out their portions at the start of the week to make it easy to keep track of what’s being fed. Reweigh your dog after a few weeks and see if they’ve gained, lost, or maintained their weight, then adjust their amount of food to fit your goal.”
Just remember—you’ve got to take into account any leftovers of extras that you might be giving your dog. So no munching on cheeky treats in secret!

That's a crime in a lot countries to cut ears or tails. US and Canada are the most retarded countries in the world about it. It's forbidden in Europe. Declawing a cat is a felony too. US and Canada are still OK with this barbaric things. Then they ban "foie gras". Double standard much? It's ok to declaw a cat (amputation for human confort), then foie gras is bad, it's not a disease it's a kind of bird thing to grow leaver fat to survive migration. Industrially this is really bad, ok. But i don't understand how cutting ears and tails are not banned in Canada or US.
Load More Replies...My late dog was working out at the same gym. He was the most gentle and loving lap dog. Once i was with him in the parisian subway, he was splooting on the floor, tired, then a group of asian tourist wanted to get in, then they saw him and "NOPE". How a splooting dog could scare anyone? imgp2210-5...7860b8.jpg
I believe you he is sweetheart. But that's how I was imagining Baskerville's dog in my childhood. I am sorry! ))

It is unbelievable...He looks like a human being...? I know a man, with the same face (not really, the dog looks more friendly..) ;-)
I bet he is friendlier than most people you'd meet!! Unfortunately due to the way that many people have trained Pitbulls they've gotten the reputation of being vicious dogs. But, in all actuality they are the sweetest dogs out there!! Sweet as sweet can be as long as they're not trained to fight!! Can be very good watch dogs if that's what you want a Pit for but will attack only at the orders of their owner. This Pit Hybrid is absolutely stunning and so majestic!! I would imagine very expensive to feed and for Vet bills but Sooo Very Worth every Penny!!! It's true that people who claim that they're afraid of or allergic to these pets are full of BS!! I was bitten by a dog when I was very young. Kindergarten I believe. The dogs upper jaw went in my mouth and lower jaw bit through my lower jaw, biting one of my bottom teeth out and putting stitches under my jaw and yet I've never been afraid of any dogs!! Not everyone loves animals so it's purely individual preference.

WAS HE MANUFACTURED IN A LAB OR SOMETHING?! That's a BIG DOGGO right there.
Last time I saw a dog like this, it had three heads and would fall asleep to harp music.
OMG I've never seen a staffy with proper ears - they're GORGEOUS!!! What a Good Girl!!!
If he/she is well behaved enough to take on a subway, why the big heavy chain?????
This dog wear a collar, the leash is an heavy chain. Because when you have a big dog, he can broke thin leashes and hooks, even when he is well behaved (mine was on buses, subway, trains and taxis but when he wanted to pull to play with friends or to go after a cat, you had to rely on the solidity). You can see his hook on the wall with an heavy chain (the red thing is the leather collar attached to it) hanging with a long HORSE leash in this picture, and dog trash bags because he trained his human well too. (the coat was a gift from his granny, who paid someone to fit his size, with a warm fleece lining, he was basically a huge spoiled chihuahua). dscn1611-5...9e1a77.jpg
DANG he's on a CHAIN!!! I want him to piss on the train so bad hahah!!! I'm American!!
Downvote me as you want, but why should the dog be allowed to sit with his butt and paws on the seat where other people will seat next? If I put my dirty shoes on the seat, wouldn't you be pissed off? These owners are impolite, of course not the dogs.
Honestly, his butt will not be the grossest thing that seat sees today.
Load More Replies...It's not a choke chain. He's wearing a collar that is attached to a chain leash.
