Mom Creates Uncensored Comics About What It’s Really Like To Raise A Kid (26 New Pics)
Interview With ArtistIf you are a parent, you might agree that raising a kid is not easy and requires a lot of time and energy. Yet, it's one of the most rewarding jobs there is.
Inna Sacali is a comic artist from Moldova that creates honest illustrations about her life as a mother and wife. Her comics depict funny and precious family moments as well as all the struggles she faces when taking care of her son. Inna takes her ideas from her real-life experiences and tries to accurately translate her emotions and feelings into vivid drawings.
Inna's works have been featured on Bored Panda before. If you want to see more of her candid illustrations, you can do that by clicking here and here.

The last one is really important. For both. You will never create true intimacy without being able to let your gard down.
Any time I show 'weakness' in front of my wife I always feel showered with love and support. Why hide that when sharing it makes everything at least feel better, even if the situation doesn't change
Load More Replies...Definitely agree with the last one in particular. All of them are important, but my relationship would not be as strong if I wasn't able to show my true colors.
Careful. This particular comic feeds the gender role stereotype. Especially the spider killing and jacket offering. Why is the woman not smart enough to take a jacket in cooler weather? Is it a setup to see if her man is chivalrous? Just take a jacket. So it’s okay if he’s cold because she doesn’t have the forethought to prepare for weather? This is “woman & children first” mentality. If you want true equality, I want a woman to hold a door open for me as I get on the life raft of a sinking ship. Can’t have it both ways ladies. And don’t kill spiders. They’re useful. Quit spreading the spider hate. Yes men can be sad and tired, but when we have to brave “real” men killing spiders and giving up our coats in cold weather, something tells me you don’t want to us sad & tired.
I don’t think we as men are equipped the necessary tools to understand why women don’t take coats with them when it’s cold, and that it’s expected that we give them ours and that we should be cold. To me it’s the same line of reasoning that results in: 1. 50% of the world needs the toilet seat up to pee 2. 50% of the world needs the toilet seat down to pee. 3. Therefore it is always the man’s job to put the seat down when he is finished, and never the job of the woman to put the seat up when she is done. Why is that?
Load More Replies...This entire comic spells hypocrisy. Be a real man when someone can take advantage of that. Be touchyfeely when someone can take advantage of that. Never for yourself, always for others...
Before Inna became a mom, she was a full-time architect. However, she has always dreamed of drawing cartoons or comics. After the artist had a baby, she put her job as an architect on hold and began to draw comics featuring her real-life experiences raising a cute baby boy.
"Maternity and art occupy the biggest part of my life now. It is an absolutely new experience that gave me a lot of ideas for my illustrations. Maternity leave (it is 3 years here in Moldova) and my sometimes sleeping baby gave me time for creativity."
Under everything, there's still a teeny tiny little bit of love? 🤣
Load More Replies...This hits hard to me as a single mother who has anxiety and mental disability... But with out him I wouldn't have any love to give
I think it's definitely time to buy a hammer & break up some rocks!
My dumb ass couldn't figure out wtf crysis was for an embarrassingly long time lol then it dawned on me...ohhhhhhhh...CRISIS.....lol preggo brain is really getting to me 🤦🏻♀️
As a gamer, I wasn't sure why that particular video game was such a big rock on her shoulder. Maybe she's really loves it and it's hard to resist the temptation to go play it? =P
Load More Replies...I’m not even a parent and this is how I feel with the kids I babysit lmao
She accidentally misspelled 'crisis', the word. Hope I could help! :)
Load More Replies...I can totally relate. My 3 son has always just stopped in an awkward position his face gets red and he would grunt. Never had issues going just a really telling potty face
Yup - when my kids were toddlers, the moment they were quiet, I knew they either needed the potty or they were doing something they shouldn't have been!
For Inna, it takes from one to three hours to finish a comic. The main source of her ideas is, of course, her son, who inspires Inna every day.
We got curious about the challenges Inna faces when creating comics. The artist revealed that the most challenging part of the creative process for her is finding the time for drawing. Another one is not to lose a good idea that just occurred during the process. "Sometimes I hesitate about how can I show my idea in the best way so everyone understands it once they see the picture."
The part Inna enjoys the most is when she finishes the work and can see the result that she likes. And of course when people, her followers and her friends like it as well.
Hey pandas, I'm not a netizen just an article reader... Can someone please tell me what is up with those comments? Do they get paid per post? Per click? Are they hacked? I can't imagine anyone reading a post and be like- I'M GONNA BE RICH!!!
Well, you wander into Bored Panda, maybe from some reference somewhere, then you get interested in an article, then another article, then you add it to your list of Daily magazines to peruse. Then, sooner or later, they will hit on something you either Know About, or maybe just Have an Opinion on. So, you see the 'Add a comment...' place, and you do join up to BP. Load More Replies...I did that today my kid where like when are we going we got to do this and this
Yup. My 3 year old is pretty good at the "first this, then that" reasoning. So it's not too difficult to keep him patient when we have errands to run, because I can tell him "first we do this and this, and then we'll do (insert kid activity here)".
Load More Replies...My mother- Let's get some ice cream Also my mom on the trip- oooo Home Goods
Raising her kid limits the time Inna can spend drawing comics, so usually, she draws when her son is sleeping. The main theme of her comics is maternity, but the artist is eager to explore other topics as well. Maybe in the future. "I am still looking for my own style. I draw a sketch first, then line art, then color it and add shadows and highlights.”
Of course, the artist has those days when she doesn't feel like drawing at all. Inna shared that sometimes she doesn't have the mood to create or even doesn't have any new ideas for the comics. Anyway, she doesn't make herself do what she doesn't want to. The artist just waits until she has the inspiration again.
I'm a butt to butt sleeper with our feet touching. Even single I stay on 1 side of my Queen bed. Lol
At first I thought the beds in the first panel were skirts...
I don't know why he's so grumpy... I mean look where her hand is....
like different mixes of colors for bi and trans and such.
Load More Replies...Oh God, yes! My daughter ALWAYS wants me with her. No matter what she does. She wants me to watch her do this and that. ... it is very sweet and cute, but you cannot do that 24/7. Even if there were no other chores...
You're gonna think back and miss that when she's a teen. Soak it up now.
Load More Replies...The author forgot the guilt mom feels for hoping toddler didn't see her.
Ah yes, the stealthy "check in on the kid without them seeing you" move.
Yes. As soon as they see you your time of doing whatever you did is over. Can relate.
My daughter still likes being around and she 27. Guess that's a good thing.
Inna has built a following of almost 29k people on Instagram and regularly posts humorous fragments of her daily mom life. The artist previously told us that it is very important to share the real and honest side of motherhood so moms can understand that they are not alone in this. "Even on rough days—you are still a good mother."
I don't get how young kids can be so in to vacuums. All 3 of mine have been super fascinated by it at ages 9months-2yrs ish. Do you really want to be an adult and have to clean? Or am I too much of an adult to understand how amazing they are? Hmm.
Same! My son started wanting to take apart my brand new cordless Samsung vacuum when he was around 7 months old. He would sit there with a plastic screwdriver (the kind made for babies and toddlers) and somehow managed to take parts off. He’s 17 months now and now he has his own vacuum and everyday he goes over the whole house. He even vacuums under the cabinets and tries to get under the coffee tables. Lol. If it were a real working vacuum, I wouldn’t even have to clean myself! 😂 My daughter is 3.5 years old now and she is still fascinated. But now she mainly just wants to use mine to clean with. I let her sometimes since it’s a pretty light weight vacuum!
Load More Replies...When my son was about 2, he screamed with the vacuum when i was using it... that second AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA was wholesome! 🤪
Yup. My son loves the vacuum, but especially when he was younger (he's 3½), he'd be all over it, but freak out if it got turned on.
Our grandson loves them, has 3 he plays with, but do NOT turn them on!
My brother would that the stuck and start vacuuming (1 year 9 months)
Tbh as long as you have accepting people around you, you probably could. I talk in weird ways sometimes (some of those times it's partial selective mutism due to autism, so I can only get the important words out, sometimes it's just because I'm not afraid to be SUPER cringey) and the people around me are just kinda like "ope that's Myr being Myr". They usually can tell the difference between speech issues due to autism and me just vibing and talking weird too. They just don't mind either.
Load More Replies..."For me, creating comics is a kind of art therapy that allows me to show my thoughts, my life, relationship and humor. They are quick and easy to understand for everybody. And people can relate to the stories I show."
Inna is also involved in other projects. Right now, she also draws illustrations for a company helping young parents to bring up their babies.
No...it would be more truthful if the cars were sitting abandoned while the kids were eating grass/dirt after begging mommy and daddy for the cool new toy, previously. 🤣
This is very true, we have borrowed scooters to see if we like them and shared our ride on toys so other kids can test them out. It's fun seeing your own child understand that this stranger isn't stealing, just borrowing to see if they want their own!
I was at an antique market awhile back and this mom was pushing her toddler in a stroller. The little girl just suddenly starts going "MOMMY! MOMMY!" and the mom was like "what, honey?" "WHERE ARE YOU?!" "I'm pushing your stroller, dear" "oh.."
Why do so many people say "literally" ALL the time now when it's unnecessary??
When you're just replying to a text message. This comment lets us all know if you do have kids, you need to hug them more often. No way you understand nuance.
Load More Replies...I remember my mum doing this. She would pretend to look for me but I'd come out to find her reading a book or something. At least me and my sister would find eachother. I also remember this game she got us to play called the quiet game, it was a game where whoever stayed the quietest the longest won. That game honestly worked we got so competitive but if the parent talked they lost also
Is it sad that when I have hiccups, all of the remedies or treatments don't work at all or it works but then my hiccups come back but even more painful and annoying?
Suck in breath (or breathe in in other words) til it hurts your lungs and hold it longer than you thing is possible. While you're doing this, immediately start swallowing your saliva; swallowing excess saliva like we all do naturally and involuntarily but forcing yourself to.
Load More Replies...I highly doubt that any parent would put batteries in a noise maker like that...
well i dunno how you would out batteries in a small kid like that, so I agree
Load More Replies...What it is like having kids be prepared cause it gonna be a mess again in about 3 mins
Yea I think that's why I my house we never had any glass or white furniture when we were younger. Understandable, I was fine I honestly didn't make mess or anything I actually liked clean unless it was my room. My sister on the other hand destroyed everything, drew on walls, destroyed one of my Christmases, put nail varnish on the banisters. Decided she wanted to make the fish look pretty and put glitter, glitter glue and paint into the fish tank until the all died except one of mine and one of hers. Her fish backed mine into a corner and wouldn't let it eat ended up eating it. Even her fish destroyed stuff
If they are like yours, I rather stay childless. They will not bring it up ever again.
Load More Replies...No they are looking at the reflection of themselves and the kid wants the balloon he sees on the wall
I don't get this one? Is it just the fact that they are hanging out?
I believe he wants the shadow's balloon instead of the one he's holding. That's just how i took it, kids always want what they can't have
Load More Replies...This is my husband omg. I swear everyday he walks by me and gives it a squeeze. He thinks it’s so funny because I’m still nursing our youngest and milk squirts out and leaves me with a wet spot on my shirt. 😂 it’s like he knows exactly where it’s at, first try!
The comics aren't representing all types of families, that's not the point. The artist is showing her uncensored family.
The "But what about me!?" is strong in these comments...Sometimes,.wait for it,.it's not about you. I know, shocking.
Why in the world are people saying this is inaccurate and not representing all types of families? Listen, if she was going to represent all types of families, she would, but she's not. Her comics are about HER family. How HER family functions and what they do and how their days usually go. Just enjoy it. Jesus.
