I am a primary school teacher from Galway, Ireland. By day, I have the fun task of educating the next generation of kids… by night… I’m an artist! All my comics are drawn the old-school way—with a pen, paper, and a lightbox.
Not only do teachers engage with and enjoy these comics, but the students themselves seem to love the drawings and relate to the humor, which is fantastic. I hope that these comics humorously illustrate the hard work, dedication, and care that teachers provide our students every day.
My comics have been published in a book form, which has become a bestseller here in Ireland. The comics have been praised by Matt Groening and the book has since been endorsed by Mike Reiss, Emmy award-winning writer and producer of The Simpsons. I never imagined all this would have happened when I started to post the "When's it Hometime?" teacher comics online back in 2016.
You can see more of my comics on Bored Panda here, here, and here.

That one student who ALWAYS looks to the back. In every classroom cartoon!
You gotta break it up. Take out your books (wait five minutes). Turn to page twelve.
I teach ESL and thought it was a language difficulty. Evidently not!
Students definitely experience this too
Load More Replies...This reminds me of the thing that used to happen often when we were in mid school. Our Maths teacher would encourage us to bring chocolate to the introductory class of fractions. We would learn about fractions with chocolate. You can imagine how it looked like. Teacher (after explaining): "Any questions?" Kids: "Can we eat the chocolate now?" ♡
Load More Replies...And don't forget the hashtag used in music class to raise a note one-half step.
Yeah, they have it so easy that all those people spitting on them don't pass the exams to become teachers themselves. Guess that somewhere in their limited brains they know that: 1 - they would never be able to have the exam that requires way more brain cells than they have 2 - their kids are the worst thing ever and teachers are quite heroes to care for them and educate them beyond what their job requires, as they also have to do the educating part parents are supposed to do themselves most of the time
They don’t even get summer off. My dad teaches fourth grade, the entire summer he has to write lesson plans for the next school year.
boo-hoo. every other job is exhausting too and nobody else has all summer off -_-
last time I looked most of the people near russia wanted to be astronauts while america and britan wanted to be youtubers
Load More Replies...Well the older generations had lots of kids that wanted to be celebrities. Youtubers are just today's celebrities.
Youtube is great if you know how to use it well. You can do yoga, then learn about nutrition and get inspired for a good food, fitness, learn a language, hear motivational speech, listen to music with lyrics, do guided meditation.
This was always me "Can I have a new book please" has like five blank pages and tons of half or a quarter used pages xD
Am I the only one who thought Sophie was weird and everyone else was normal
No, teacher. It didn't happened today, it was yesterday and maybe will happen tomorrow too.
Are you talking about the : are we there yet? 200 times in 30 minutes? Yes, agree.
Load More Replies...Instagram “stories“ are just picture collections.
Load More Replies...So true! Should we feel guilty because we are soooooo happy School day 😊?
Well, she was busy playing and hanging out, and exploring the world. That's what children do. ♡
I've never gone a day without reading -- even as a child -- I can't imagine not doing it.
Load More Replies...She was probably glued to her electronics, why read anything more than social media?
My kids favorite thing to do. Let's see how it goes when is not mommy doing the reading anymore.
I like in calvin and Hobbes when his dad convinced him be photos were colour photos but everything was black and white then XD
I read calvin and hobbes with my dad thats my fave one
Load More Replies...I knew a kid when I was young who fully understood why things were B&W on a B&W television, but just couldn't wrap his head around certain things still being B&W even on a color set.
I used to think this tho..from the Wizard Of Oz, since everything was black and white at the beginning
He said, in a black n' white comic on a website named after a black n' white animal.
I actually had a student ask me once when did colour start. She was serious.
When I was very young I 100% thought that the world was actually black and white back then.
Omg lol I can imagine my kid doing that unfortunately. Sorry teacher!
Why let the kid have all the fun? If I were teacher I'd be slinging those books myself!
Seems like a good method for making sure people are awake in class lol

Load More Replies...mainly through pain and stubbornness, never underestimate how much discomfort a boy will endure to look tough.
Load More Replies...That's kind of a universal sentiment. There are only a few lice enthusiasts left these days.
Load More Replies...Wait, wait, wait, wait, did he just brush his teeth before he ate?
Only a novice teacher would ask what he'd been using his hand for, right?
I feel this. You start out so hyped and ready for a new school year (or whatever) and it just goes flat after a time.
Seeing a teacher out of the classrom is like seeing an actor out of stage. Meeting the "everyday" them is fascinating!
To all my teacher friends who will be at one of the parades next week!
The hard, shiny dark brown nut of a horse chestnut tree. There's a game kids play with them. This is a British thing. (As was calling kindergarten "infants" class a few comics up.)
Load More Replies...A nut from the Chestnut tree, really hard and good for a game of Conkers. thread a string onto a Conker and challenge someone to a game, you hit their conker with yours and see if you can split any.
I really love these, I'm sure all of the teachers across Ireland will agree that these comics are so relatable! Reading these made me remember how I use to annoy my teachers during my Primary School days not that long ago.
My son's primary teacher is a tall and serious guy, and against all the odds, children just adore him. He is not in any way soft and cheerful as many primary teachers are, but somehow he is just the right person in front of the class and superhero for all of them. So i liked these comics very much - they remind me my son's teacher.
I think we can all age, Sophie is the best thing that happened to us pandas
Was missing the one that kids kind of have a mind blowing when they see teachers outside school and they realize teachers don't live inside school. Love this, very interesting. Love Sophie and the distracted kid.
