Like the walls of ancient Egypt, the internet is awash with images of cats. While no longer perhaps seen as divine, people still can’t get enough cute cats, cat memes, or feline facts. At this point, there are almost as many unique cat images online as there are humans, so it stands to reason that the net supports a variety of cat-subgenres.

We had a cat, we thought belonged to a neglectful neighbor. He kept showing up on porch. It didn't. We decided we'd get him to a vet for check-up and flea dip before bringing him in the house with our other pets. So we made sure he had food and water on the porch. Could get into the vet till the next day. I woke up at 3am to him curled up at the end of my bed. He had pulled the screen from our window. He decided he was home!!! 💞

Despite wanting to appear as a solitary animal, cats do vocalize quite a bit. In nature, while they might not be deeply social, they still do need to “talk” to fellow-felines at times. However, cats are quite smart and have realized, to some extent, that humans can and will respond to their noises, so they tend to be more “talkative” among us.
Research suggests that house cats are generally louder than wild cats, as they are perpetually around us, who they perceive simply as larger, clumsier fellow cats. Since we find them adorable, it’s no surprise that we record, film, and photograph them speaking to us.

I have a fat cat who used to walk up in your face and scream when begging for food. I taught him “dramatic begging” (to my husband’s dismay). It looks a lot like this cat’s begging, only instead of meowing he throws himself on the ground, puts a paw to his head, and either gives a heartfelt sigh, or a plaintive little mew. Way better than the screaming. And funny, to be honest. He’s also taken to throwing himself dramatically at the feet of anyone who enters the house.

OP just doesn’t realize how privileged they are to a cat who will let them rub the precious belly, so MUST be reminded of it!
While the cats here are mostly “yelling,” felines have a variety of ways they can make noise and communicate needs and moods. From meows, to purring and hissing, they are very capable of different sounds when needed. Researchers believe that there are 16 to 21 varieties of distinct cat noises.

If that was one of my cats they’d have squeezed through the hole and clung to my face with claws well embedded so I couldn’t drive. Once tried to pet one of them through the bars on the front of the cage. He caught his claws on my middle finger but when I tried to free it all I did was succeed in ripping my finger open. Blood everywhere in the car especially whenever I had to change gear. The vets ended up sorting me out before my poor moggy.

One of mine had to go for dental surgery last week. He had to be starved from midnight the day before, and I got an earful of yelling the whole way there. How dare I starve him?? How dare I make him travel in a little plastic box? How dare I put him in the car?? The return journey was a lot quieter-the V...E...T had obviously given him a syringeful of the good drugs.

Purring also helps relax the cat, which perhaps contributes to healing if it’s hurt or sick. Since it normally purrs during positive moments, it's possible that it uses good associations to help itself calm down. Cats aren’t the only felines that purr, big cats have been known to do it as well, making a significantly more impressive noise with their larger bodies.

I have a talkative black cat too. Sometimes his meows sound kinda sorta like words, though that’s probably just me anthropomorphizing him. Jack was the runt of his litter, half the size of his siblings—-and now weighs 15.6 lbs, and no he’s just a domestic shorthair, no Maine C**n or other big cat DNA. He’s also one of the sweetest, gentlest, cuddliest, and most loving cats ever. I’m so privileged he chose me to be his favorite person.

While it might seem a bit unnatural for cats to “talk” that much, animal behavior specialists believe that, in most cases, a talkative cat is a happy cat. A cat that vocalizes with its owner no doubt believes that it is understood and trusts the owner to some degree. However, if your cat is quiet, don’t fret, some simply have that sort of personality.

The use of the word “talk” isn’t accidental, cats are intelligent beings and recognize that we are talking to them. So often they will respond with a meow to your speech, creating a sort of conversation. This is more likely when the cat likes and trusts you, which should be the goal of any owner.

It’s been a whole FIVE minutes since you last fed me!!! But be careful, some kittens, especially if they’re newly rescued/adopted strays, can gorge themselves and end up with bloat—-which can be fatal, so get them to the vet ASAP! Usually cats only eat until they’re full then walk away, but some kittens who has experienced food scarcity may try to eat too much until they know there WILL be a next meal, and a next meal, and another, and another, for the rest of their lives.

My cat has spots she absolutely not allows people to touch her in, not even me. A large, square-based shelf, 220 cm high, 60x60, the top two stories are hers, hers, hers! A bowl with a little treat may be offered to her there. Another shelf, it depends. I try when I walk past her, and either she reacts enjoyingly, or she reacts refusish, then I go on and leave her be. After all, I receive enough of her love, and she accepts enough of mine... Nice spot! Nice fur!

My tybalt once(or twice) had to get bathed due to a skunk encounter when he was younger. We don't have a tub so I took him into the shower with me. He must have enjoyed it cuz ever since he goes into the shower to clean himself. It's adorable to watch.

Thank god we have Pedro the travelling vet ; he is an absolute life saver as our 2 x 20 year old cats (brother and sister) were getting so stressed out that I thought they were going to expire on the way to or back from the vets the last time we took them - 3 years ago now, and, more to the point, Pedro is around the same cost so a win, win situation !!

My driver got pulled over while cat and I were being driven to the vet. When the cops saw the cat, they asked if it's urgent and if they should clear us a path by siren and their blueflashery - the nicest encounter with police in traffic I ever had. By far. Cats make everything better, even stuff like random checks on vehicles by authorities (we had neither done any wrong nor any prohibited thigs that day).

My cats (Sphynx) were out on the porch, sunning themselves. And then...a cloud moved in front of the sun. And I was IMMEDIATELY told to turn the sun back on. Because, clearly, I am in charge of the sun. Ofc, just when I went "I CAN'T turn on the sun!" because I was yelled at, severely, the cloud moved and I got a "See?" look. My cat now thinks I'm in charge of sunshine.

I’ve had roommate’s pets like me a lot like that. One was a very grumpy cat named Buffy, who hated everybody except her mom (my roommate) and me. She would jump into my lap, she would come into my room if I didn’t close the door all the way, jump up on the bed, cuddle up to me m and fall deeply asleep all night with me, even if I tossed and turned all night. I moved out long before she died, but my roommate was also a friend, so I saw Buffy a lot afterward, and she was always happy to see me. I didn’t seek out her affection, because I know cats need space to decide if a new person is OK to approach. She decided I was OK, and gave her affection to me willingly.

LOL my ex boyfriend had a dog named Lexi that lived at his mum's and when we went to visit her for the frist time after we started dating, Lexi decided she didn't like him anymore and loved me. She would even give him a wide berth when walking past him just to walk around him to come to me. She would wait at the door of our bedroom until he left then come in and start trying to get on the bed to lay with me. He was very abusive towards me so maybe she sensed it. I miss that dog so much.

My cat just built herself a bed from bubble wrap that I store on the enclosed balcony (one with windows closing it, facing to the backyard, which had previously been an open one until ... long ago...). She, more or less, arranged it in a way that accomodates here, and had me remove the tara pieces for her. We're lucky she doesn't engage with plastics as much as her predecessor, who would eat some regular plastic items - like that string coming with the german yellow recycling bags or the blue paper recycling bags. Most times, they just pass the cats inners without much hassle, but they pose a risk and therefore shouldn't be eaten ... but, lucky her, she doesn't eat plastics.
