If her mother wonders from where her daughter picked up bullying, she has only to look in a mirror. Go ahead and sell her phone, but public shaming is just as bad as the daughter's bullying - even worse, because parents should know better.

I have been bullied, but I believe that bullies are people to and they make poor decisions with their behavior. By giving negative reinforcement to a child who bullies, just makes them feel more alone and would most likely increase their bulling.... But if they are just psychopaths than I could agree with your comment. Just saying. 0.o

Arrogant, presumptuous and patronising. I'm a psychotherapist, but I don't expect automatic trust on that basis. More importantly, I'm just a common or garden adult. Punishment - even shaming - can be an act of love, as long as it doesn't end there. Giving a child food for thought, especially when he or she has been cruel to others, can be liberating, especially if that child properly digests that food for thought and is rewarded and praised for making amends.

I don't think I would be able to do this to any kid. However, whatever this girl said to the other person, I would ask this kid how they would like it if they were told horrible things, imagine if they were them and then get back to me. I'm not sure if I could publicly shame someone for the sake of teaching them a lesson. I'm not saying that this mother did anything wrong. Parents like to teach their kids in different ways I guess.

Don't do that to your daughter. Instead of making her sell her device, maybe set time limits or restrictions for a little while. Plus, this is public shaming. Your child should not have to go through this embarrassment.

I don't have kids and know this is not how you mother. You don't bully to correct bullying. That's just as bad if not worse. You talk to your child not publicly humiliate them.

Yes, it is sad that teens post this kind of thing, and that is what social media is encouraging, but if you look at what part of her face is showing, she looks so sad. Parents, your kids will make mistakes, and some of them will be worse then others but DO NOT shame them on the internet or in front of people, it will make them hate you and go against your wishes just to spite you.
