i love this! the classiest response she could possibly give. i was never a fan of the harry potter saga but i find myself really liking ms. rowling.

By labeling him a "Lone Wolf", the media's dismissing the crime as something conceived and cultivated in his mind alone, and is not reflective of a broader culture against Muslims, or influenced in any way by violent and/or hateful ideology. By not calling him a terrorist, they're protecting said broader culture from scrutiny and placing it squarely on the individual. If this were done on behalf of other terrorists of other races, Islamophobia wouldn't grow into the monster that it is. So, yes -- it's fair to call him a terrorist, inasmuch as it's fair to call any person who kills innocent people a terrorist, regardless of their motivation for doing so.

I think when it comes to movies, because they try to be more "realistic", they have this sort of "unwritten rule" of staying closer to the character descriptions, where in stage performances, appearance-related differences are generally not important, unless specific to the social situations around the character (i.e. If the play / musical concerns race relations, you don't want, say, the persecuted black American character played by a Chinese guy or something, lest the audience get very confused.)

This is so true. For years I kept quiet because I didn't want to involve myself in a ridiculous political argument. I think a good portion of my countrymen felt that way. Now look where we are. It's going to be a long 4 years, and we're going to have to fight every second of it.

I'm kind of confused by the relevance of this quote. I would've quoted the U.S. Constitution, since it was rather explicitly written by guys who mostly didn't care much for the Bible. Amendment 1 of the Constitution says this: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" which seems decidedly more on-point.
