I removed the A from the end of my name in my professional world for this reason alone 😂
For context: there was a video clip that went viral of a tourist staying in Puerto Rico. He was asking about sprays to make the "noisy frogs" be quiet.
In my family (Southern California Mexican-American), every adult was allowed to discipline every child if they saw the child doing something naughty/bad/wrong, whether or not that child was literally their child or not. In other words, you not only had to watch out for your mom smacking you with the chancla, but also your tías and your abuelas. I remember once when we were at my tía Bert's house and I decided to pick some lemons off of her lemon tree (which was not allowed.) I thought I was safe, I thought I was in the backyard alone. Next thing I know, Bert's chancla comes flying out from the general area of the sliding glass door leading into the house and hits me on the back of the head XD SOMEONE is always watching and ready with la chancla!
This term basically means "badáss woman" or "strong woman" or "motherfúcker" (as in the kind of woman you don't fúck around with.) It comes from the root word "chingar", which has real meanings, but in slang it means "to fúck". (Hence the phrase "chinga tu madre".)
A Thai friend once explained that while my American heat scale ran to five stars, her's ran to twenty.
Come to New Mexico and you have the option for both everywhere you go! We refer to it as “Christmas.”
I'm white, but was adopted at birth into a Mexican family. I learned Spanish right along with English. My cousin, who is a biological member of the family, is one generation younger than me and refused to learn a single word of Spanish. It always struck me as odd, especially since we live in Southern California, where Spanish is pretty much a second language for everyone XD
It's dangerous and needs to end. A LOT of broken teeth from the goddam mordida, and sometimes the cake has these little skewers inside to keep the structure. Worth a thought.
OMG, that's all my husband talks about. And rather hard to find here in France. 😂
My family would talk about you if you WEREN'T ugly XD I had some brutal tías!
Coffee with hot milk and buttered soda crackers. All it's missing is the piece of cheese we put in the coffee to melt it for the cracker.
Most of these "Mexican" things apply to all of Central America. Some of these were pretty funny though
