I was just trying to say that I agree, and I am definitely of the mind that if those doing the procedure have never done it before, they need to get detailed information of the experience from those who have recently had it, and still remember the experience clearly to give better information on what the experience is truly like.

I am sorry and I heard so many horror stories like yours 😔 I am now on the second IUD and both times I had some painkillers and also got to insert a pill loosing up the cervix beforehand, so it was uncomfortable but not painful for me. If you didn't get that then f that doctor of yours! Plus my OB GYN is an amazing woman with literally decades of experience. And never ever get an IUD if you haven't given birth yet, your uterus is likely too small and you will feel it.

I’m about to get my IUD removed/replaced with a new one. I asked my doctor about the pain (he doesn’t do insertions but his male colleague does) and he said “let’s put it this way, I’ve never heard someone screaming from Dr Insertion Guy’s room. Does that help?” Like ugh, I’m going to be asking for an Ativan and some pain management for sure, hopefully they’ll let me cause it’ll be me begging a room full of men that are planning to reach into my internal female organs for help, I’m honestly so scared of the pain every woman I know has been warning me about that I started crying in his office.

It's not only those, but pills even mess with our hormones. And really, all the female options r so much worse, compared to the men's. And yet, women r usually having to be the responsible ones, and then when there is an accidental pregnancies, it's the WOMAN'S fault!

I didn't have this experience, because I'm cis-male, but I already somewhat get it, not necessarily the sheer amount of pain, since I don't know the experience, but more the situation of the negative aspects of an experience being excessively downplayed. I got LASIK and there was definitely some minor pain during, and the pressure and anxiety of having your eyeball slowly pushed back into your head was way more than I expected, even with anxiety meds. However, they stated "you'll have some burning feeling in your eyes after, but it usually takes about an hour, and you can just sleep through it. F**k no I couldn't. The numbing from the procedure didn't last as long as it was supposed to, so the pain has started before I got home, and I tried to fall asleep with it, even took sleeping meds to try and knock me out, but it was more of a mix of a ton of burning pain, plus stabbing pains. I left a 5 star review for the place because they were great, but I also made sure to put in my review a more realistic "this is what you will deal with, just because it gets undersold, but even so, I'd go through it again to have my legally blind eyes finally be able to see without glasses for the first time since second grade. Also, the pain lessens quite a bit after about 6 hours, and becomes a dull ache by the time you wake up the next day."

It had rotated around 30 degrees and the left wing was embedded in the muscular tissue of my uterus. It had been trying to expel the iud, but it got snagged on the wall. The removal hurt so much since the process is essentially grab the string with tongs and yank. I decided that that one had to have been a fluke and wanted to try one more time. I had it replaced that same day and the pain was damn excruciating this time. I almost started crying in the chair. Around a month later, the end had poked out and it needed removed. Well, maybe...just maybe it is because women take birth control a little bit more seriously than men as it is either that or getting pregnant... but it is just a wild guess :) But lets say - hormonal contraceptions are not exactly safe either. They can put hormonal disballance to whole body, cause organ failures, obesity, also troubles with getting pregnant once put aside, stomach issues, hair loss, skin troubles, I could go on..

They have had a 'pill' for men which was developed decades ago, but men refused to take it because "side effects". Women, on the other hand, are supposed to just suck it up.

I think people are taking your comment as a sort of "women should do it because it can be reversed, and men shouldn't have to." sort of thing, deep you might want to clarify. I just thought of it as a mention of the situation as a whole, with no opinion of specifics though.
