It’s no secret that cats sometimes, or rather most often, do things that make no sense to humans. To help to decipher the internet-famous and genuinely odd feline behavior, Bored Panda reached out to Molly DeVoss, a certified feline training and behavior specialist who runs Cat Behavior Solutions agency.
Molly said that each cat’s motivation to act weird is a very individual thing. “Some cats do silly things to get our attention; we run and get our cameras, cooing and paying attention to them.” This attention that we shower our felines with is precisely what reinforces their seemingly odd behavior.
Meanwhile, “other cats are bored and are trying to find outlets for pent-up energy,” Molly said. Being both prey and predator animals, most cats’ instincts are still pretty powerful. As your house is their new jungle, you see the behavior that makes them jumpy, goofy, silly, yet absolutely adorable.
In fact, this precise feature that we don’t really know what to expect from them is what makes our felines perfect material for the internet. “Whatever the motivation for the strange behaviors, it’s always good to pay attention to your cat and tell it how much you appreciate the laugh,” Molly concluded.
Yeah, that would be me. My husband too, though he’ll never admit it. It’s why we now have four cats and a dog—-all rescues, out of a barn, off the street, dumped in our yard or the neighbor’s (when she was out of town for an extended period and my husband was doing a regular check on her house for her). Yeah. Big softies.

No, soft surfaces are definitely preferred here! And should carpet or couch be somehow unavailable at the moment, at least throw up under some piece of furniture where it is more difficult to mop up than simply on the kitchen floor. And do not forget the disgusted look when backing away from the crime scene: "Eeew, look at the floor, what a mess! Doesn't anybody ever clean here?!"

My cat, Teaser, prefers to puke in the middle of the night somewhere along the path from my bed to the bathroom so I'll be sure to step in it. She also enjoys gracing the bed with a large pile of it within 3 minutes after I've just changed the sheets. She is such a delight.

I can totally understand. When my daughter was six months old we were in a pricy furniture shop and she started to puke. Fortunately I could manage to hold her above a 4.000 € Couch before she started spitting. I literally stretched my arms to get her there and not above the floor. Don’t ask me why. The couch was really pretty (disregarding that little flaw) so we ended up buying it.
I do that all the time, not because of spiders but because she meows non stop as she wants to sniff the ceiling for some reason

My kitten likes to play fetch with her little toy mouse. I throw it and she brings it back to me. I don't see this ending well.
