Soo funny! I have a child who was born in Australia and one who was born in the Netherlands. I have a photo of them in the summer holidays, 20 degrees. The Aussie one is dressed in winter boots, long pants and a big winter jacket. The Dutch one is wearing a swimsuit in the paddling pool. It cracks me up everytime I look at it.

This could easily be about US Northerners. It's not that unusual to see Northerners in cargo shorts in 10C or see them in jackets when it's 30C. And, yeah, I had to look up C to F to make sure I wasn't wasting my time with this comment.

American kids need parents who insist they learn both systems - because the world does not revolve around the USA, even when so many of us believe that to be true. It's beyond sad and venturing into the pathetic. (And yes, I am an American who learned and then taught my kids )

This is so true. I’m American but I lived in Europe for 4.5 years so I understand Celsius and it makes more sense to me but I usually keep it in Fahrenheit. Basically I understand both.

I'm from New England region. 10 deg C isn't even that cold. I had Canadian friends who would literally wear shorts and t shirt when it was 25-30 F (-4 to - 1 deg C)

Freedom degrees vs Communist degrees! At least that's what I tell my EU gf. I still remember learning about metric system in elementary in the 60s because "we were going to convert". Apparently that is too difficult even though it took me about a week when I lived in Europe. Still better than the British with all their stones and such.

The math for converting Celsius to Fahrenheit is ridiculous it’s like take weather multiply by 1.8 or 9/5 then add 32 …that’s just so damn weird to me lol

If precision isn't important like with weather, multiply by 2 then add 32. Works better with temps closer to 0.

When asked about her favourite Canadian cultural quirks, Casie said that one funny thing is “that ‘yeah, no’ means no, and ‘yeah, no for sure’ means yes,” she laughed. “We also spell things a bit different here than in the USA, ex honour, humour, and favourite all have a U,” Casie added.
The weather is also a big thing when it comes to Canadian life. “In Canada, we have 4 distinct seasons so we get to experience a really hot summer, beautiful Autumn colours (and fashion!), then a cold snowy winter, plus the spring where everything comes back to life,” she explained.

Driving unplowed curvy hilly backroads going home at midnight with snow deep enough on the road that it sweeps over the front of your car and over the windshield in an endless opaque wave, with the side window open so you can actually see anything, in near whiteout snowfall and well below freezing temperature, all while driving fast enough to keep your momentum to get over the hills, but slow enough not to drive off the road into a ditch, and knowing that if you mess up and get stuck, there probably won't be another vehicle along for hours and you're in for a real long walk. Yeah, real winter in the country is fun.

I used to have a pair of woolen socks in my locker at the uni. Each Winter I'd just take off my shoes and put in the locker and put on my socks and grab my kettle and tea and I'd basically treat the uni as my home. Lol. I was there from early morning til afternoon so often. Oh, how I miss university. It was grand times!

Nah, I lived in a large city at one point. My husband, desperate for food because I wouldn't let anyone in the kitchen while I was cooking, went out for food on Christmas day. Apparently found an open one and came back nearly an hour later looking like he'd seen the end of the world.

Yup, pretty much. Geese are insanely protective of their nests and territory… they will not hesitate to attack. Our summers are nice but this winter is expected to be a particularly brutal one. Expensive has been a recent thing for the most part… thanks COVID. Hey though, free health care and it is a beautiful country.

My ex is from Canada and I wish i could live there with him. Shame I made some poor choices and now I'm stuck in England with no future... ex is currently travelling in vietnam then NZ. A year working in Oz...i wish i had the courage. I'd have traveled anywhere with him. Be careful what you settle for. The advertisement of "life" isn't worth it or anywhere near fun. While some of these are hilarious, how anyone with even a partially functioning brain could think there are mountains in Saskatchewan, defies belief. I did lol - literally - at some of these. There are many more out there I’m sure. After being raised in the UK until my teens, living in Winterpeg for years and now living in ND via Chicago, my heart is Canadian. Love Canada and her people!
