Is it just me,or does she look like Sid the Sloth from the Ice Age movies?
As these posts testify, there are many memories to make when owning a pet. But every relationship has a beginning and some nuances that come with it, which you have to consider.
To better understand how this process works, Bored Panda consulted with Julie Bond, a great animal behaviorist and an expert in most things pet-related.
I found a snowflake ornament in my bedroom this morning, last year she brought me a Santa..
Load More Replies...Yeah you might want to scan their microchips so you can return the one you stole
Plot twist: Op goes to return the cat and....Op opens the door!
Load More Replies...Yeah, they look so similar and he managed to get a picture of them sitting comfortably next to each other like this... Seems pretty likely that they are in fact siblings.
Load More Replies...How could anyone not know their own cat. just from the way it behaves?
Load More Replies...I had that happen, many years ago: My tabby tween disappeared, one afternoon. I went looking for him, calling his name. About a block away, "he" jumped in the car (Z loved riding in the car). I got home to find him sitting in the driveway. Uh oh! Went back to the neighborhood where I found his doppelganger and (because he had run and jumped in the car and I didn't know which was his home) left notes on all of the doors -- with my phone number -- apologizing for taking the cat and offering to return him. A few hours later I received a call...telling me I was welcome to the kitten and jokingly asking if I wanted 3 more? That's how I got "Ditto." :)
Ironically, it was the only time in his life that Ditto willingly jumped into a car, lol. Unlike his "twin," he hated riding in the car. Go figure.
Load More Replies...According to Julie, the first and foremost thing to do when you decide to get a new pet is to be pragmatic. You need to think about whether you’ll have time to help them settle in and take care of them, as well as if you have time to devote to their training and exercise.
One of the most important aspects here is your work, particularly where and how long you do it. And when it comes to dogs, if you decide to get more than one, be sure of it, as according to studies, they prefer to be the sole pet at home.
To figure out what kind of animal is the best fit for you, consider your budget, lifestyle, experience, and goals for the pet. For example, parrots often outlive their owners, so don’t get one if you have no one to take care of it if you pass away. And don’t get a puppy if you won’t have enough time for it.
I often feed the cats when I get home, if someone else hasn't already. They meow for food either way. We always joke that they're lying. "Meow" "Don't listen, they're lying" "Meow" "They say they haven't been fed in weeks!" "Meow" "Liar." "Meow." "Don't use that language with me, ktties!" "Meow."
My parents had this one cat who had a very clear meow but with different intensity depending on if she was mad about something or not. As a result, if nothing else, you always knew when she was upset about something and wanted you to fix it. Like the time they brought her to my house to look after her while they went on vacation: She would go in, inspect every room, come out, and give a single angry meow. I'm like, yeah, I get it, you don't like new places. You've now made the point six times.
Me too! Shame we can't post pics in the comments. I have a cracking one that looks like he's laughing at a joke I told.
Load More Replies...For introducing new pets to your home, specifically cats and dogs, there are some guidelines that you should follow. “Cats and kittens should be introduced slowly to a new home environment to increase their comfort level and guard against them escaping out an open door,” said Julie, explaining they should be introduced to your home gradually and have all the equipment they need available.
“If you are bringing home a puppy, you will want to start crate training right off the bat and keep your puppy on a leash, tethered to you, to enhance your bond and help you with training,” continued the animal behaviorist, adding that if there are children at home, too, you should take it slow.
With ours it's more like, what the heck is that noise - oh, it's just princess snoring
Mine snores too and it's so adorable when she does.
Load More Replies...My heart melts every time I see my girl. She never stops being the most adorable thing in the world to me.
I don't know if this already exists, it probably does, but are there any sleepless pandas that would listen to »cat sounds« like purring, eating or grooming to fall asleep? 🤔 🐈⬛ 😴
Our old dog is at the point where we check to make sure he's still breathing.
Agreed! Especially when we head to the bathroom and he decides he needs pets while I can't do anything else!!
Load More Replies...According to Julie, the biggest misstep in this process is trying to do this too quickly. For example, dogs can take up to 3 months and sometimes longer to feel comfortable in their new home, and you can’t rush it.
“Definitely keep them on a predictable schedule as that increases comfort and makes them feel more in control of their environment. Balance the physical and mental exercise for both dogs and cats, allowing them to bond with you and see you as someone worth getting to know,” said the animal expert.
Dog's with massive eyebrows are so cute! Angry or otherwise. IMG_1072-1...b88425.jpg
And then eat you, but only after 3 days. It gives time for the skin to loosen so they can get purchase on it.

Hehe...sorry. l believe you. And you're correct about her tryin' to kill you.
It's a friggin pain that AFTER you buy something, THEN you get flooded with ads to buy it!!! WTH??
Right? FIFTEEN years ago I ordered a toy & some chewy thingies from PetCo for my brother's dog. FIFTEEN years ago & I still get emails. I have unsubscribed, emailed their customer service dept. AND marked them all as junk. Nope. Still get emails. Petco got some pull, yo.
Once your new buddy is all settled in, you might want to train them. But while older pups and kittens might be ready to go to training classes, it all starts right there at home, for which Julie recommended some great literature. “‘Wag: The Science of Making Your Dog Happy’ and ‘Purr: The Science of Making Your Cat Happy,’ both by Zazie Todd, are must-reads for any pet owner.”
I got a kong cat brush and both do my cats love it. It's been the only brush they've ever enjoyed. 100/10 recommend! Also, those dryer sheets that repel pet fur. I don't know what magic they put into those things, but they def help. Side note: someone once called the fluff on your clothes "kitty glitter" and I've called it that since!
Are you sure he/she has a spine and not like, a rubber hose in there?
Needs one more half twist with the Allen wrench.
Load More Replies...this is how a cat can land on its feet, they can twist their spine 180 degrees
For a 70 year old, who can hardly reach down to pick up something dropped on the floor this picture inspires real envy.
Load More Replies...I feel like my cat likes to show off her flexibility on purpose just to make her humans jealous or make sure we know how amazing she is. She'll sleep like this, with each half of her facing the opposite way. Looks terribly uncomfortable, and yet she's sound asleep as if it is the most comfortable position ever.
It’s simple! Cats are liquid, not solid matter. According to this definition of liquid – a substance that flows freely, but is of constant volume – cats are indeed a liquid. At the very least, they're a non-Newtonian solid. There IS scientific proof that cats are liquid; a 2017 paper by the French physicist Marc-Antoine Fardin “On the Rheology of Cats”. (Rheology is the science of the deformation of materials.) A liquid has a fixed volume, yet does not have a defined shape. Fardin discovered that cats, who are known to be solid most of the time, can be classified as liquid under certain circumstances. Liquids usually have a main direction in which they flow without the help of a container. The image above shows an example of a cat “flowing” along its main axis, which is the main direction of its movement. It is important to note that a liquid has a lower malleability when it is not moving along its main axis.
Some people might want to get both a cat and a dog. While these animals are usually quite different, it is entirely possible to have them get along just fine, and Webbax gives a few tips on how to achieve this.
According to the article, because the first impressions are important, it all begins with carefully planning their first meeting. First, let them smell each other’s bedding and toys. Then, start the process of having them eat at the same time while being separated by a door, which can be later replaced by a screen or a dog gate.
Delicate work! I am suitably impressed they got there without knocking down the tree or tangling the lights.
Yeah--the cat is clearly up there trying to fix that crummy light-hanging job, but he doesn't have thumbs. Help him!
Load More Replies...My new cat hasn’t touched the tree to my surprise. I think he’s afraid of the lights.
This is exactly why we don't do a tree anymore. My kitty is a climber. She would view a tree as a challenge.
Why? Because he can? Or maybe they like the thrill of teetering
I make jokes like that. Last time, I earned three strikes from the missus. She complains I won't spare her.
But even when they get more comfortable with each other, keep their food and toys separate as they can be very protective of these things. It also pays to keep their personalities in mind and act accordingly. For example, when you get to introduce them face to face, keep the dog on a leash as they’re very usually excitable.
Lastly, give your cat a separate space, preferably where the dog can’t reach it, as this way, the cat can feel secure and have a retreat spot if things get too intense. And when it comes to dogs, remember that they’re active creatures that always need exercise and stimulation. So, to keep them from bothering the cat too much, make sure to spend enough time with your dog.
My cat will answer back if I ask him if he needs to go potty. I follow him in and sit next to him while he's going. He's also got a specific high pitched screech if I'm somewhere else in the house. I feel like I should hand him a towel and a mint when he's done. Dad says he's very spoiled
Load More Replies...This is hilarious. They look like they are watching an interesting movie.
The stray I feed wants me to stand over her while she eats. I have to do it at least once a day. She's day shift. Night shift stray would prefer I keep my a**e in the house while he eats.
Aww! Day shift kitty trusts you enough to let you watch her back so she can eat in peace! <3
Load More Replies...Mine sits on my lap and demands to be petted, my dog tries to bring me his rubber pig every time I'm on the potty
Mine will ignore me UNTIL I go to the bathroom, then he’s all rubbing on my legs and meowing for pats. As soon as I’m done and I stand up, he goes back to ignoring me. I think I accidentally conditioned him to associate human potty time with cuddle time lmao
Load More Replies...I'm never sure what the fascination is, I often have an audience of 3 and one sitting in shower crying to be petted
😅if you're thinking of getting a cat, and think this is a joke, then you need to prepare yourself! You will have howling and arms through door cracks until you let them in 😄 they check you are safe whilst in a vulnerable position ... and they take it very seriously ☺️
Yes, yes they do! All five...3 cats, 2 pups! I barely fit in the room!! But, apparently, I am the center of attention!
This is literally why they follow you into the bathroom… they know you’re vulnerable and they stand guard. My main cat also does it when I shower, lays directly in front of the tub and glares at the door.
But if you dare watch them on the litter box, it is horribly offensive.
Gonna take me a while too. I need to find the perfect spot to drop the logs off...
My parents dog. To a t. Though, he loves to play the game of bark bark bark, excitement, doesn’t follow you to the door. Because you aren’t the person they contracted with for the job this time. And so it continues until everyone has tried and he starts over again with the first person. Then he finally goes out to 30 seconds later knock on the door to be let back in. Dogs are permanent toddlers.
Mine are out and in just about instantly during storms. They could spend forever outside otherwise!
Cats, dogs, and all other pets are wonderful. After all, it’s not only for the funny online posts that so many people like to keep animals at home. And sure, introducing them to your home and living with them requires extra effort. But that’s the case with all living things, and since we are social creatures, the benefits pets provide us can be pretty invaluable.

My dog does this expectant wary half-wag thing when she's hoping someone's going to be her new friend, but doesn't know yet. That's how I also feel around new people.
Give your daughter a huge hug, a high five, a fist bump and a big smile from me
I think it was Kate Bush who said that she wished she had a tiger tail to thrash about when people annoyed her. I'd like one, too: it would be great to fluff up during horror movies.
The most unique cat I have ever seen. You definitely don't see that coat pattern and color a lot.
He's also put in much more effort and devotion than you and probably spent at least twice as much money...you're nothing but a disappointment who gifts disappointments to others...🎁 😞 🛍️
It might not be. Unfortunately, he and his publisher didn’t copyright his work, and once it became wildly popular, people all over copied his art. He didn’t make a thin dime from their copies.

but he ran away a few years later 😢 but when I saw this picture I literally freaked out I never thought I would see him again And I was even in the room with my brother when he took the pic
Load More Replies...That's not funny. For a sec, l felt that all the way to my tummy! Probably a flashback from when my son's toes fell off
There's a Christmas legend about little striped cats at Christmas. I've written this before but here goes. When Mary and Joseph reached Bethlehem and couldn't find room indoors, they had to stay outside in the animal barn that first night. And Mary delivered Jesus in the cold, brutal night. A feed trough, a manger, was the only crib available so this is where the little boy slept. Not real comfy for a cold exhausting night. But sometime during the night a little striped cat wound herself around the baby and kept Jesus very warm until morning. To show her love and appreciation, Mary blessed the cat with her initial, an "M" on her forehead. Even today you'll find Mary's M on every striped cat, blessing each generation.
Oh that’s so cute! I always tell my tabby his M stands for Monster (because he’s a little s**t) but this is cuter 😊
Load More Replies...I've read this story before, but I love they way you told it! I have 5 tabby cats. The youngest has a double M on his forehead. I tell him it stands for mischief and mayhem.
Aww. My cat would always sit near the manger scene when we put it under the tree. I told her it's like she knew she belonged there.
Same, and I don't mind one bit. 100% purebred goodboy, deserves all the treats forever.
All dogs are "purebred" and deserve the same amount of love.
Load More Replies...Better yet, we MAKE our dog's food--chicken breasts, organic green beans, wild rice, red bell pepper. We make it in big batches and freeze it in quart ziplocks.
If I don't mix wet in, he stands there staring at me & if looks could kill.
Secret reporter for the local newspaper..hot spots for the tourists! 😸👍
That dog looking at that person like are you gonna take my order or what I want my barktini 😂
I just remembered my childhood cat trying to steal a sandwich I was making one weekend as a teenager purely because it was a turkey and cheese sandwich. She waited until I was grabbing a knife to cut the sandwich to do it, too! As soon as she was caught, she jumped off of the stove top (no worries; it was off!) and then stared at me, as though it was depriving her of food, even though she had eaten not long before that!
No (edit, but they do ghat of friendliness and to great you, or so?)

Mine will only eat the tuna and salmon, occasionally the beef and if I give her pate she turns her nose up at and just eats her crunchies. Picky little monster, but I love her
They only want that till you have a cup board full , then they go off that one and want the other one
My parents had a cat (RIP Desdemona) that loved gravy. And only gravy. And only gravy that came with cat food that she’d never eat. She managed to survive on that diet for 15 years. Same cat found dog treats in the cabinet while we were asleep and she put piles of dog treats all over the dining room floor and table.
Should be on a flat plate, not a deep dish like that. Shame on you Fancy Feast!
Shallow bowls make for less whisker fatigue.
Load More Replies...My mother had 2 feral kittens years back who were 'just going to live in the barn'. Within a few weeks, they were licking gravy off her fingers. (In case anyone is interested, they became loving, soppy house cats, who fitted in with the others well and lived long and happy lives)
Maybe it is because they were purebreds Birmans used to being spoiled most of the cats I brought home walked out of the cat carrier, took a stroll around the room and lay down on the couch looking as if they were satisfied all was in order.
