Farrokh Bulsara, born on September 5th, 1946 in the British protectorate of Zanzibar, had no idea that later in his life he will become a famous singer named Freddie Mercury. Though there were always hints of his musical capabilities, nobody seriously considered music as a career for him. Freddie has even majored in graphic design, before releasing The Queens first studio album. After that, he has gained worldwide fame for his flamboyant stage presence and immense vocal talent.
Since his death in 1991, there have been quite a few debates about Mercury. For example, whether or not Freddie's vocal range spanned four full octaves. But even if we don't get any answers to some of the mysteries surrounding the great musician, there are a lot more Freddie Mercury facts that reveal just how great and interesting he really was.
Imgur user IceCreamMaam has collected some of the least known ones, and they definitely bring you and the famous musician a little closer. To understand his life even a little better, check out these Rare Pics Of Freddie Mercury And His Boyfriend From 1980s.

Singing and performing must have prolonged his life--I'm glad it gave him joy.
Immense talent.. it wouldn't be Freddie, if he hadn't pulled it off.
If there's one musician in the world I could have chosen to meet, it would have been Freddie Mercury. The man was a talent and a voice like no other. I am still devastated by his loss.
I have loved Freddie Mercury my whole life, he was so AMAZING! Nothing ever stood in his way
Good to know Queen appreciated Princess Diana, while the other Queen loathed her
So there has to be pics of some smallish dude with big shades on who no one recognizes.... Lady Di.
Oh, so you know everything about Freddie Mercury's life? Seems these people (and countless other British publications) say otherwise. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2013/03/princess-diana-freddie-mercury-gay-club-rumor/amp
Load More Replies...It was a parody, the best parody ever. The nonsense ballad, the nonsense opera, the nonsense rock.
He considered Mary his one true friend. The only person who really understood him. The song, "Love of My Life" is about Mary.
He called her love of his life, but it's unknown about whom the song is. The song's lyrics actually contradict Mary and Freddie's relationship.
Load More Replies...He told her, "You would have been my wife" when she questioned why he was leaving everything to her.
I read this on Wikipedia when I did a presentation on him all they way back in sixth grade XD
My first and only Hero. The world is a sadder place still, without him xxx
underrated??? actually he was named the best musician/singer of the 20th century in 2000

“Oh Michael, for f**k’s sake, I told you a thousand times not to bring that damn llama to the studio!”
This is tabloid trash. Freddie and michael met in 1983, they did duets together. For example: state of schock. There is a demo tape where you can hear both men singing. The song couldn't be completed due to scheduling conflicts so michael brought up Mick jagger to do the parts of the song (and to finish the song which was realeased on the album victory) , freddie was ok with that. In an interview he said that it didn't end their friendship. The other duets are: victory and there must be more than life than this. Maybe first give correct facts here. Both musicians where brilliant, this is no competition... -.-
This made me so happy on multiple levels and when I told my bf about it he was WAAYY less excited... 10 years together and THIS may break up our relationship lol... well this and Left 4 Dead but that's a whole other can of worms
He had a waistcoat made with images of his cats on it, he wore it in his final interview, I believe.
And left a s**t ton of money to Delilah & whichever other ones he still had when he died!! I❤️My Cats, but hell, C’MON FREDDIE, IIIIIIIIIII could’ve (& WOULD’VE!) spent that $$$ WAAAAYYYYYY BETTER!!!!
One more thing in him that would have made him Mark Twain's friend, as he said he didn't trust or be friends with any person that cats didn't like, or viceversa
I've always thought Love of My Life is about cats. Cats are like that.
Those teeth were uniquely him and after a while, if he had worked on them, I think people probably would not have liked it. And, yeah, don't do anything to mess with that voice.
First thing Bowie did was dix his mouth. I don’t think it would have mattered.
Load More Replies...I LOVED his teeth - they marked the exit point of the most beautiful voice I had ever heard, expressing the most wonderful of poetry
What a struggle for a performer, feeling like you can't connect with your audience.
Not exactly surprising, since he was a graphic art/design major!!
Their logo is one of my favourite band logos ever. I've often thought about getting shirts or posters with it, but I'd feel like a poser since I'm not actually a big Queen fan.
Been there recently and there is the Queen Experience at the Casino. Handwritten lyrics.... Very cool.
Was there recently... Also The Queen Experience in the Casino where several albums were recorded and handwritten lyrics are worth a vist.
He’s gone now as well.....at the age of 60 on New Year’s Day 2010, NOT of AIDS or anything AIDS related, but of Lung Cancer.
Load More Replies...How do you figure that? Zanzibar was in east Africa.
Load More Replies...His parents were Parsis from Gujarat and his father worked for the British Raj at a colonial office in Zanzibar.
So, as he was born to parents who were subjects of the Brittish Raj he was considered a British citizen by birth and he did spent most of his childhood in India and went to boarding school in India. Now stop arguing.
Load More Replies...Pffffffffffffft...Brits don't let such trivial things get in the way of such things. They claim Chris Froome(multiple Tour de France winner) and he's South African. So long as it's a colonial...or a former colonial!lol! Good enough for the Queen!
He’s Persian, he was just born in Zanzibar. So far this little known fact has not appeared on this list.
Load More Replies...It was Farrokh according to several things I have read about him.
Load More Replies...No he's wasn't, he was from Zanzibar (a country on a whole different continent!).
Load More Replies...He avoided interviews because he was asked questions that invaded his privacy.
While obviously not to THAT level, I've got similar feelings. I can like... talk to a group of people, as the centre of attention quite well, but when it comes to a personal conversation, I get reserved.
Actually, useless information time, your fingers prune to allow for more grip when wet since our average skin is too slippery when wet. So really it would be easier with pruny finger than without.
Load More Replies...It would be nice to know HE knows how much he is missed and still thought of so many years after his death...
He did such a fantastic job with that song. You could tell it really drained him.
First of all it's *didn't second of all god isn't real and if he was bigots like you couldn't go to heaven worry about bigger issues than what a man do with his d**k sounds pretty gay to me worrying about a man d**k.
Load More Replies...Now Im going to have to finish this post and go get lost again looking up Zoroastrian
Look up "Also sprach Zarathustra" too, you may recognize it.
Load More Replies...Unexpected, but I guess a lot of people are religious even when I don't expect it.
This is true of a lot of singers though, they don't speak in their best singing range.
The Freddie Mercury was introduced in 1994 by Eric Stainthorpe of Battersby Roses. It is a pink, yellow and apricot rose.
What is horrible is there are those that would think differently. He lived on his own terms and made a brave choice. When it's terminal, you should have the option.
Load More Replies...I remember this. I actually had no idea he was sick. I was 19 and in America, so we didn't get the same tabloid gossip as Brits did. I was devastated. it took months for me to come to terms with it.
I agree. I thought that he was a healthy person. He had a trim body, and muscles. I just thought he was a health regimen. He always looked good. I never heard rumors he had aides!
Load More Replies...its like you are hiding in your house and you only come out the day before you die
I remember the news report. I was 18 and at my boyfriend's house at the time.
He wrote 'Barcelona', didn't he, for Montessorat and himself??? (please excuse spellings, as I'm not sure)
Load More Replies...He wasn't the main writer though and it wasn't his favourite genre. He liked trying different styles and pushing what he could do. So, personally, I'm not so sure.
I think the band loved him so. They were like brothers When you work together as long as they have you become family. The loss is so great! They respected each others privacy, and I really think that is the eay it should be! He wanted his privacy, that should be respected! Hint: POPERACY!!!!! Of cpurse I adored freddy. But he wanted his privacy. I can tespect that very much. It is nice to know his bday, but thats it.!
She is a beautiful person. It is WONDERFull that is a beautiful relasionship!I
she was extremely rude to jim hutton after freddie's death though
Load More Replies...I loved Queens music. I never thought about that! That is his private life. Don't care. Or ever cared. We enjoyef the music! My friends and I never ever discused their secuallity!
Not to mention the fact that he was actually openly bisexual. But for some reason people think you should be “one or the other” which is just stupid.
Load More Replies...Well, bisexual, but whatever. How well did the various "commentators" know him?
I just read that he worked in the catering department doing dishes at Heathrow while he was at Isleworth Polytechnic (from '64 to '66). I also read he was a baggage handler before he became a rock legend.
He had a vocal extension of 37 semitones. As a comparison, Pavarotti had 31 semitones and Montserrat Cabballé, 30.
I hate the tabloid. They are all blood suckers and cold hearted b******
Amen. It just galls me that they can print absolutely untrue b******t and get away with it.
Load More Replies...I remember. They don't care who they hurt so long as they get their "scoop"!
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and state everybody likes at least one Queen song, which, in my book, makes them the most popular band ever. (including the beatles and the stones) I think they appealed to a wider variety of people...
An absolute legend, the likes of which I doubt we will see again. Thank you for the great music, Freddie!
I love playing bohemian rhapsody in bars and watching the reaction.. At some point, the entire place will start singing and finish the song together. It's beautiful and hilarious to witness.
The only thing bigger than Freddie Mercury's voice was his heart. He was so good and kind to all who knew him, a fact proved by the immense love that was given to him in return. He was an amazing performer with a incredible voice and talent that he so generously shared with the world and we are all the better for it. He will always and forever be sorely missed but he will NEVER be forgotten. The show may go on but without Freddie it has lost a kind of magic only he could provide. Thank you Freddie for everything. PEACE and LOVE ☮ ♥ ♥ ☮
What a heartfelt and lovely tribute. Well said!
Load More Replies...Seriously? Without even trying I could find many EPIC photos. 33079942_1...44c924.jpg
Honestly, I was never a big fan of Queen (not completely sure why, I think a lot of their popular songs are rather repetitive, though some really stand out to me like "Somebody to Love" and "Don't Stop Me Now"), but I've always had a thing for Freddie Mercury. His voice was absolutely wonderful and ... he just seemed really lovable.
I know the downvotes will be coming for me, but Bored Panda has lately been copying Buzzfeed a lot.
Freddy could take three chords, and two bass notes and make it into a masterpiece.
