Animals. They've been around for longer than us, and they'll probably be around long after we've gone. Why? Because animals know the secret of life. And what, I hear you ask, is that secret? I had a super rotten morning and this little guy made me cry weird melancholy tears. He's so joyful! Thank you for posting this picture. It brought a little sunshine into the hell that is my space.

This one has been my desktop pic for years now. People see it and will actually do double-takes. "Sickeningly cute" is the phrase I hear most often from people who see it.

Pretty sure this is a 'duprasi', or fat-tailed gerbil, from the Sahara Desert. Used to have them as pets. They are the sweetest, friendliest little animal in the world.

In many of these pics, the animals weren't "smiling". It was just their natural face that people have interpreted as a smile. Us humans have a tendency to anthropomorphize animals.
