We build cities to create spaces for living and working, but all of that concrete distances us from the natural world. So, to remind themselves that they're part of something bigger, members of the subreddit 'Nature is Freaking Lit' are sharing pictures from green forests and blue seas. Whether it's a candid snapshot of a snake or a National Geographic-level close-up of an insect, they definitely inspire others to reconnect with the environment.

I put a bird feeder in my yard and now it's full of Chickadees. I've had hummer feeders for years and wanted to expand. Beware, tho. They eat a ton of food.

reddit, not OP though: "The turquoise color is almost definitely coming from the artist taking the picture late in the day when the twilight would cause the sand to have a very slight blue color. I found several pictures of the area with white and red, and sliiight blue and red. However the artist's Facebook has other pictures from this area with this effect. This is most likely them appreciating the blue and red contrast, and increasing the saturation in post to accentuate the colors. I could be wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"

Bucks and stags of many species of deer thrash their antlers in vegetation during rutting season. Having a large amount of greenery on the antlers must have some evolutionary advantage.

No, they absolutely, positively are not. It's a false implication made by activists groups. (The sources themselves never actually say those words; they just say, "look at this poor polar bear, at risk for going extinct from global warming!") They can swim 500 miles; their Latin name is Ursus Maritimus, the sea bear, because LIVE in the water, even sleeping.

This is why you dont evolve a niche build folks! Jokes aside this is the fate of most species... extinction. The sun will blow up(billions of years give or take) and take us and everyone else with it. Unless we do something about it and preserve what has been and what can be.

Of course humans would associate this bird with the Devil. Easier to jump to paranormal conclusions than search for a biological reason. Similar to how a cat's eyes glow when reflecting sunlight, the Stygian owl's yellow eyes reflect sunlight as red. No need to bring superstitions into this.

    🔥 Angry Psychedelic Bird

Colorful bird with vibrant plumage perched on a branch, showcasing nature's amazement.

    Behold the Lilac-Breasted Rolle.

Scientific Name: Coracias caudatus Country, Continent: Eastern and Southern Africa Habitat: Savannas and Open Woodlands

The lilac-breasted roller (Coracias caudatus) is an African bird of the roller family, Coraciidae. It is widely distributed in sub-Saharan Africa, and is a vagrant to the southern Arabian Peninsula. It prefers open woodland and savanna, and it is for the most part absent from treeless places. Usually found alone or in pairs, it perches at the tops of trees, poles or other high vantage points from where it can spot insects, amphibians and small birds moving about on the ground.

This species is unofficially considered the national bird of Kenya. Alternative names for the lilac-breasted roller include the fork-tailed roller, lilac-throated roller (also used for a subspecies of purple roller) and Mosilikatze's roller.

In case anyone is wondering, that's a rolling horizontal column of air caused by wimdshear turbulence between two air masses of different density passing each other (warm moist air rushing over falling cold air), and with enough updraft, the column could turn vertical. This rotation is what leads to rotating supercels (the storms that can produce the big wall clouds and tornadoes).

The Dracula parrot (Psittrichas fulgidus), also known as the vulturine parrot or Pesquet's parrot looks similar to a vulture due to its bald face and hooked bill. It's assumed the bald face is due to its diet of mainly figs that would otherwise stick to its feathers. Other food sources are flowers and nectar. This one doesn't have red spots behind its eyes, so it must be a female.

These little cuties hail from Central and South America, with more of them living in Suriname, Guyana and Peru. They have a powerful bite, mainly hunt large rodents and even larger prey. Fun fact: they're also known as "vinegar dogs" because their urine smells like vinegar. Their average weight is 5kg (11lbs) and height is 17.78-30.48cm (7-12"). Oh, and they have webbed feet for swimming/wading in the wetlands.

By "elderly", they mean maybe 11 years old or even younger. He's simply worn down from some three years of constant sex and chasing away other males. He has been kicked out of his pride and is unable to hunt efficiently. A female will live until 16, and will be supported by the other females of the pride, so will die of old age, rather than starvation, as males do.

Why would you want them dead? Other than being quick, the spiders are harmless. You're more likely to get hurt by a mouse than one of these. And the wasp is non-agressive as long as you're not stupid enough to mess with it.

It was in bad shape when they found it. Had been shot several times, so they euthanized it. :( https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/03/02/massive-alligator-weighing-700-pounds-found-georgia/3039780002/

And yet there are people who think they could take the tiger and the bear on and win in a fight.

🔥 These Are Ghost Mushrooms, Bioluminescent Fungi Native To Australia

Glowing green mushrooms on a tree trunk in a forest, showcasing nature's beauty.

Ghost mushrooms can be found anywhere along the east coast of Australia where there are old forests. They grow mainly on huge dead trees. You can see their light with the naked eye as a faint green glow in the forest at night.

This crop comes up most years after a rainy season on an old dead gum tree on my farm in south east Australia

These photos are taken with natural light of the mushrooms only, no extra lighting used. I have used very long exposures (8-14 minutes) to gather more of the light from these wonders. You can see in the second photo the stars have trailed during the long exposure.

And before anyone asks, they are not edible or trippy. They will make you very sick for a few days.
