I think it’s amazing that an undomesticated animal essentially domesticated itself because it recognises kindness. It makes me so sad how we treat animals as a society.
From what I remember of a documentary about this is the bullet had damaged a certain part of the crocs brain making it very docile.
Load More Replies...I can imagine the amount of door to door salespeople / charity collectors went down drastically after Poncho moved in.
I reckon Jehovah Witnesses would still brave it, though.
Load More Replies...In my culture, we believe that crocodiles and snakes never forget. And they can pass down vengence. That's why, we do not bother them, let alone hurt them because they may come back for revenge. But if we do good deed to them, they are said to do one for us too.
And they say reptiles are cold, insensitive, oblivious creatures...
I never would have thought a crocodile could be so aware of a kindness done to save it by a human, and then to bond for so many years with that human. Surprising.
Their pool? So they live in a pool? And they collect trash? Some of the most intelligent creatures on the planet and we keep them in prison and get them to collect trash. I hate humans.
Its an institute. For marine research. They are well cared for by professionals who know what they need. Sometimes, trash may fall into their enclosure that people dont notice. This is a way to stimulate their brain while also keeping their habitat clean
Load More Replies...To those of you bitching about this place being operational. Of course it's better if we left animals alone in their natural habitat. But because a certain type of mankind feels like the planet is theirs to f**k up, we need places like this to rehabilitate wildlife that is being destroyed by capitalism and greed. The Marine mammal institute in Gulfport is there to help keep these animals from going extinct and while they rehabilitate them, they study them. https://imms.org/
Just checked out their website, and they look no better than the sea life parks. They teach dolphins tricks to entertain the thousands of visitors.
Load More Replies...Yeah I thought this sounded eeirely dystopian. Work-animals that pick up our garbage. It's so cool the one cheeky dolphin learned a loophole however.
Load More Replies...I remember a video where a dolphin gives back a mobile to a guest that dropped it in the water! Now it's explained why the dolphin gave it back
When my dog comes back after the walk he runs from room to room saying hello to all family members. Every day.

Staying curious and open to new ideas is not only enjoyable but also provides us with a dopamine rush. Whether it’s learning something new about history, science, art, or even modern pop culture, there are many benefits to keeping our brain cells active.
A study by researchers at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business has found that our brains are hungry and always willing to learn new details about the world. Researchers revealed that "new information acts on the brain’s dopamine-producing reward system in the same way as money or food."
Good for him for at least recognising that. In the above, he was 45 and Seymore was 20, 25 years difference. A bit on the lechy side there already, and he went on to do a few more. I blame the franchise, not him. In his last movie at 58, Tanya Roberts was 30, so 28 years difference. Ew. Good for him.
It's possible that he couldn't stop sooner due to being contractually obligated to play the role.
Load More Replies...At least he recognized that. God forbid if they cast actress his age, right. As far as I know, Bond ladies were always youger, only exception was Monica Bellucci, who was slightly older than Daniel Craig.
Even though Bellucci is drop-down stunning, fans trashed her for being "old." You know their sorry asses will look like sh*t at her age.
Load More Replies...It is indeed and noone ever has thought to pick let's say older women? What's this obsession with 20 year olds? Actresses over 30 are only getting roles of wives and mothers but almost never a desirable love interest!
Load More Replies...Thank God for that man's lovely awareness of the inappropriateness and refusing to take part in it. Leave that to the creeps who are willing to pander to the perverts.
It's also an unverified rumour. Guff facts? Guff wild guesses, more like.
Load More Replies...He also campaigned against animal cruelty and tried to ban vivisection, or so I've read. The irony is sickening.
Load More Replies...Fact is, nobody is all good or all bad. (And for those who say Hitler, he was a vegetarian, a reasonably good artist, a tee-totaller and had some really, really good ideas about civil engineering and how to build and structure cities and resources. Sure, the bad outweighs all the good, but I'm just saying, nobody is all one thing or another.)
True. Read about Gengis Khan, it's fascinating. He killed millions of people, razed cities to the ground, pillaged and raped his way across Asia and part of Europe. But at the same time, his Empire established freedom of religion(unheard of at the time), innovated in logistics, commerce flourished inside his empire, and it was mostly a meritocracy. It lasted only barely 3 centuries but changed the world forever. For good and bad.
Load More Replies...One of my favorite quotes is from the Loki series: No one bad is ever truly bad, and no one good is ever truly good.
Load More Replies...Interestingly, in the UK, milk bottles are one of the few things that don't have an expiry (or at least best before) date on them. Milk in cartons bought from the supermarket will, but milk delivered in a bottle by the milkman does not.
Morrissons have just got rid of dates on the milk they sell so people will have to use the sniff test.

uhhh i disagree- one time i had to watch a movie where those leaping satans were prevalent. needless to say it caused a bunch of panic attack triggers and made my arachniphobia much much much worse :D
Load More Replies..."To the brain, information is its own reward, above and beyond whether it’s useful,” co-author of the study and associate professor Ming Hsu, Ph.D. told Neuroscience News. “And just as our brains like empty calories from junk food, they can overvalue information that makes us feel good but may not be useful—what some may call idle curiosity.”
However, knowledge usually becomes useful when it’s put into context. While many think that learning cool and interesting facts is a waste of time, it’s quite the opposite. Sure, you can find out everything you need with just a few searches and clicks on hyperlinks but it won't do any good to your critical thinking skills.
Scott H. Young, author of Ultralearning: Accelerate Your Career, Master Hard Skills and Outsmart the Competition, wrote that factual knowledge determines the speed you can acquire new knowledge on a topic. "The more you know, the faster you learn." It also is an important driver of our reading comprehension and other high-level skills, for example problem-solving. When you’re reading a book, it’s much easier to understand the deeper meaning if you’re already familiar with the topic.

In Korea, dogs are mistreated before being slaughtered for Boknal, “dog eating days." The Koreans who do this believe the meat is better after the animal has suffered.

The best thing India can ever do is abolish the caste system. It's the most terrible kind of racism.
Sadly it won't be because even young generation with educational background follows this trash of a system when it comes to marriage and such, and people who are considered as low are harassed daily. It' like this caste system is ingrained in the mind of the people that won't go away any time soon. Believe me when I say even in communities without the concept of caste system falls or gets harassed from people considering themselves to be the upper ones.
Load More Replies...Am i a bad person for hoping he didn't provide the caste people with water?
If it' s an upper cast, they probably are not that desperate but no, you are not a bad person. It is fair to feel like that . How can you deny water to a thirsty person?
Load More Replies...It depends where you live in India. In the north, people hold religious values very strictly, and are orthodox. Places like Kerala, Karnataka don't hold the caste system THAT high, and people are also WAY better educated on average. Child marriage is also non-existent in some states like Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Himachal Pradesh.
Load More Replies..."You can’t reason critically or creatively without first having amassed a large amount of factual knowledge," Young explained. "This is why the existence of Google and Wikipedia doesn’t reduce the need to learn facts. Something being a Google search away doesn’t mean it’s available in the background to allow you to parse new information easily."
If you find yourself wanting to expand your mental horizons, the Wall Street Journal bestselling author suggested to simply be curious. By reading more articles and books, and by watching a variety of shows or movies, you always surround yourself with new knowledge. If it's hard to understand everything at first, don’t be discouraged and try to look it up.
I hope the poor guy was handled better than what gets thrown on my porch!
Load More Replies...I wish he had helped his first wife out of slavery. After he became famous he was offered the opportunity to purchase her freedom from the man who held her as a slave. He declined, this was an embarrassment to the abolitionist community and was covered up. Knowing this always taints the story to me. His right to freedom wasn't recognized by his owner, and her right wasn't even recognized by her husband, the father of her children.
He also made himself famous - everyone wanted to keep the story hush-hush so they could use the same trick to get more slaves out, but Henry Brown wanted to become famous and told his story to anyone who would listen. It never worked again.
Load More Replies...I remember there was a museum I once went to where there was a large box there precisely for people to climb into to see what being hidden inside one was like. (It may have actually been in reference to another enslaved African, not precisely Henry.) My mother was trying to figure out why the heck I was inside it.
Is this the first modern problems require modern solutions meme?!!!
There's a lot of information about it online. I encourage you to google Henry Brown. He became an author and an abolitionist speaker after his escape which is why details of his story are so well known. A white shoemaker and a Black free man helped in his packaging, and a group of northern Quakers helped at the delivery site.

Apparently they have the intelligence of a 4 year old child.
Load More Replies...We have all the evidence to conclude that octopuses may be the most intelligent creatures in the ocean. But we just do stupid experiments with them, and some people eat them.
The only reason we know how smart they are is because of the experiments. And people eat, or have eaten, just about every accessible animal on the planet, going back a couple of million years. Animals bred in captivity can only be reintroduced to the wild after careful research and preparation; without that, they’re much more likely to starve or be killed by the existing animal population.

Load More Replies...Young advised not to be afraid of topics that are new to you: "Knowledge is exponential, so if you’re not used to reading something, you’ll learn a bit less. However, as you read more about it, you can read faster and smarter." So picking up a book that might be "above your level" could take longer but will get easier with time.
Just remember, we are the ones using the newly learned facts and putting them into context. So if you’re wondering whether you’re ever going to use this stuff, one day you actually might. Sometimes, our brains are capable of the most wonderful things, and bringing two completely unrelated ideas into one is certainly one of them.
I'm not a fan of his acting, but Keanu seems to be a genuinely good person.
He is great, but the fact that you have to spend millions for health is horrifying
And that's not the only deeply kind and compassionate thing he's done, either - not even close. And like A B C said, he never made a big deal out of any of it, or even mentioned it in public as far as I know.
The sad part: needing to spend millions out of pocket for cancer treatment.
he is a great guy. several people in my hometown remember him on the streets when he starred in our theatre's production of hamlet. they saw him in the laundromat, where he'd chat with people while doing his own clothes. he took pictures with anyone who asked him, but most people didn't. bought coffees for people on the street and talked to them. genuinely good person, i'd say.

dr joyce brothers. why don't they ever mention her subsequent career?
that's DR. JOYCE BROTHERS. sheesh-maybe use the name she's actually known by.
She wasn't Dr Brothers when she went on the show. But BP should have added that bit at the end.

The tree turned out to be a whomping willow and proceeded to bludgeon 15 people
"Seven date palm trees have been grown from 2000-year-old seeds that were found in the Judean desert near Jerusalem. The seeds – the oldest ever germinated – were among hundreds discovered in caves and in an ancient palace built by King Herod the Great in the 1st century BC." Is Internet blurb about these seeds?

Load More Replies...This is misleading. There is still deforestation here in Norway. What we have done is make supply chains deforestation-free. So e.g. no government contracts are awarded to companies that take part in deforestation. Still, a good measure! 🙂
Thank you for clarifying as someone who lives in Norway. I really wish we were tougher on companies that raze forests in the US. It's terrible! People always say we shouldn't let our cats outside because they kill songbirds, yet these lumber companies take away entire ecosystems.
Load More Replies...Georgia Pacific is actually the largest replanters of trees in the US.
I can't speak for everyone, but I can speak for myself as a Norwegian forest owner (I have a small farm): when I hire people to come "harvest the forest" as they put it, I as the owner am obliged to plant new trees. The same company can arrange that, so it's easy. The default variety they plant is however fir, which is bad if the forest that was chopped was for instance pine. So that's an issue I'll need to look into when it's time for my pine wood to be chopped. Also, the government have been actively preserving untouched forests, including some of mine - all voluntary, and I had no objection. The forest is untouched because it's so steep it would be dangerous to chop it, so it's a biodiverse haven. And now it's illegal to chop it for all eternity. So good things are going on, I hope the government will hold huge forest owners to the same standard as us small ones.
This is an insult to the people of Bhutan. Bhutan is one of only two carbon-negative countries in the world (besides Suriname). Their constitution says that the amount of forest in their country can never drop below 60% of the total land mass, and since 2000 they have increased the total amount of forest to 70%. They run entirely on hydroelectric power, which they provide to rural farmers for free. There is also a ban on exporting lumber. So, you know, suck it, Norway.
I was one of those average scholars with a D. Guess who has several degrees and a doctorate? Yes, me. With a D. School results are b******t.
They really are. I got pretty lousy grades in highschool and now I have a Master's degree. Hell, one of my friends dropped out of highschool altogether and she's a PhD now! That whole "Your grades now will determine your whole future!" line was scaremongering BS.
Load More Replies...My late older brother had a didactic memory and was brilliantly smart. He also was a D student, mostly because he was bored and only "bothered" to ace his tests, and otherwise didn't do homework or pay attention in class. My entire life I was in awe at the things he knew. My younger brother has a learning disability, had to get tutoring and go to special schools, and still earned himself two masters degrees. I always felt like the dolt of the three of us--b average, took me 7 years to finally get my BA. My talent is writing music, dumb jokes, and exceptionally long Bored Panda comments.
I believe this is why they have rubrics now that spell out exactly how the teacher got to the grade they did. I went to a school that did evaluations instead of letter grades. Those evaluations were also subjective. I'd much prefer a letter grade based on a rubric that exactly spells out expectations.
Load More Replies...I was a C student. Got a full scholarship anyways because of my ACT scores. It was great to see all the "honor students" so confused as to why I got a scholarship and they didn't. GPA doesn't measure intelligence. It measures more who does or doesn't do homework. On the other hand, there are plenty of scholarships out the that have nothing to do with grades or test scores for students that excel in other areas. His isn't the only one.
I don't have a grades comment, but I just wanted to say that I think he has a seriously ugly beard, IMO. He and Drew Carey... not attractive with beards. Ok... I'll show myself out now.
Only one of the reasons I adore D.L. I miss his show terribly! Would like to hang out with him. Bet a blast would ensue!
My GPA in high school; 2.8. I was struggling with PTSD & severe depression. My GPA upon graduation of college; 4.3. The biggest difference was situation & enjoying what I was learning. Enjoying what you do changes everything. You can’t give one standard & expect millions of people to perform the same. The US educational system is too broken. Good on Dave!
"Little did he know, that that was the day his gambit would pay off. Old Morgan was walking down the road, when a distracted driver hit him. Fortunately, he always kept enough cash on him to cover his funeral" - In MF voice.
If my earrings are paying for my funeral guess I'm just gonna be left in a ditch with some twigs flung over me
Actually, the golden earring many sailors wore and wear, is for paying Charon the Ferryman to row their souls over the River Styx (in Greek Mythology) if they drowned while at sea...
It only goes back to the tradition of placing a coin in the mouth of the dead to pay Charon.
Load More Replies...In my village this is indeed also a tradition. As we are a village with fisherman we wear earrings. Back in the days that is how they could identify a body (where he was from) and the earring was also a payment for the funeral.
I don't need a coffin. Let the vultures pick my carcass clean, I won't be needing it anymore.
I don't think he's ever going to have to worry about how to pay for a funeral anywhere in the world.

But that's Denmark. That's everywhere there. Not just McDonald's. Cause their government actually gives a f**k.

Load More Replies...The McDonald's corporation in the US must think we're all so frigging stupid
That's true for most countries in Europe (with starting pay different in each of course). The government sets a minimum salary and minimum benefits (5-6 weeks of vacation, maternity, health insurance, pension contribution etc) and it is illegal for companies to hire someone below these limits, no matter what the job is.

Sadly they probably survived all the others because they did not distribute masses of plastic and oils into their environment.
Load More Replies...And now they are in danger of extinction--if we do not protect them, the oceans, and then everything on earth, will be F****KED
You know why...... SHARKS ARE BAD ASS!! All kidding aside, Shark's, to me anyway, are some of the most beautiful, fascinating, intelligent creatures on this planet and sadly as Luther von Woldfens comment stated, the human race will surely wipe them out as well. The human race is just so sad and pathetic
Most things are older than humanity -- relatively speaking, we just got here...
After we finish off the white rhinos, we'll take care of the sharks.
True, so whatever you do don't think about how they feel when their new babies are taken away and placed in a field where they can still hear each other's cries. I live in the midst of cattle farms, and it's heartbreaking.
Cows are very loving and affectionate. They behave a lot like dogs when you get to know them. Come when they're called, know their names, can do some simple and clever tricks. They feel love and pain, fear and joy. All documented. All scientific facts. It's why I won't eat them.
I mean they're also vindictive bitches, selfish and bullies. I mean I love my Roxie to bits but she will beat the ever loving crap out of the bottle calves when she can get them up against a fence. Roxie will also attempt to murder any and all dogs. Stevie is an incredible sticky beak and will head butt you to get out of the way if your doing something interesting. Stevie will also knock gates and door open, stick her nose into everything and knock everything over and s**t everywhere. They are my beautiful babies but doing anything with them is incredible painful because they are uncooperative and they terrify the herd cattle.
Load More Replies...I can’t remember the name of the sanctuary, but there was a rescue cow who fostered several rescued calves. Holy ish I feel sad and betrayed and I know it's not his fault but couldn't they bring back the calf after seeing the cow in so much grief?

Charasmatic megafauna get a lot of attention. There are probably thousands of species that are less likable that are in the same situation.
Definitely. I read an article about it a while ago which mentioned a species of rodent which went extinct without notice because "save the pandas" is way more appealing to the public than "save this obscure variety of native rat". The few people who did care just couldn't get the interest or the funding.
Load More Replies...The loss of the species (any species) is a tragedy. But this specific species of rhino (or any vertebrate species) did not survive 55my. The "rhino family", called Rhinocerotidae, evolved in the late Eocene (about 35my ago) but this species in specific is much younger, the oldest remains are about 2my. Making up facts to protect animals is not a good idea.
Why don't they say what it really is~ Can't survive a soft asian penis. Chinese folklore on male virility is responsible for more almost extinctions than poachers
I was looking for someone to point this out. People are afraid of vilifying a culture, even though it does significant damage to wild animals.
Load More Replies...This is so sad :( but didn't they try to breed kinda hybrids with southern rhinos?
It's just one of many, many, many species that this has happened to. While human interference is the cause of many extinctions, we should remember that natural selection will also cause lesser subspecies to go extinct as a natural part of evolution.
That's really not what's going on here though, is it.
Load More Replies...I think the best thing for the earth is probably our extinction and it still would take millions of years to recover completely! Sorry for the downer - blame my age!
This "a student" was George Dantzig while he was studying at Berkeley in 1939.
Till this day his ghost still roams the halls and can be heard saying how stupid he feels for misunderstanding the assignment...
Load More Replies...Math prodigies are like that. There's a great story of the famous mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss. In primary school he apparently misbehaved and as punishment the teacher told him to add all the integers from 1 to 100 (1+2+3 ...100). He thought about it for a moment and gave the teacher the answer - 5050. When the teacher asked him how he did it, he knew he a genius on his hands. There's a trick of course. Instead of adding all the numbers up the hard way, he envisioned the series of numbers as pairs. 1+100=101, 2+99=101, 3+98=101, etc... You can see where this is going. Well you've got 50 pairs of 101 (50 X 101=5050). Easy!
Yeah.... my mind still shut down and froze your answer. Lol

'Good Will Hunting' is very loosely based on real people, but if you like real stories like this, you should check out 'The Man Who Knew Infinity' (2015). It's a biopic about a real-life Indian math wiz who gets a scholarship to go to Cambridge. It stars Dev Patel (of 'Slumdog Millionaire' fame) and Jeremy Irons as his professor/mentor.
This Indian man is Srinivasa Ramanujan, he was one of the greatest mathematicians of all time, along with Newton and Einstein.

In addition to what you said, I myself think it also teaches kids that everyone is equal and not one person is better than the other.
Load More Replies...In Japan there is a very strong sense of communal space. Children are taught from an early age to care for their environment. When kids have to clean up after themselves, it makes them much more conscious of making a mess. This is why Japan is very clean in general. Also why you see Japanese fans cleaning up stadiums after international matches.
It's also the emphasis on group as opposed to the individual. In the US, it's all about "my" rights and "my" freedoms.

Load More Replies...Why aren't these kind of principles woven into our American school system?
Because our culture and society i.e. the "system" emphasizes the "individual". Japan's culture and society emphases "group." US teachers would be happy to not be cussed and assaulted by the students and their parents.

Your not my mom, back off. Sugar isn't good for me either. The last person I dated wasn't good for me. On the other hand, I'm all for the government telling us it's the law to wear a seatbelt, or that my doctor can't smoke crack before he operates on me. And this, Ladies and Gentlemen, is why I am not a politician. Glad I'm not the one who has to make the decisions on these kinds of things!
The thing is, here in NZ we have free healthcare and smoking related diseases are costing us dearly. We only have a population of 5million, and taxpayers are paying for these people in care, to the detriment of other people who don't have self inflicted diseases. We cannot sustain things unless we bring in the smoking ban.

Tobacco doesn't have the same appeal as other drugs though. Less of a high, more of a smell, less fun than booze. A decent alternative is vaping. I don't think it'll be a lucrative enough market to be anything similar to the prohibition days.
Load More Replies...So tobacco is illegal contraband now? I mean, what's stopping these kids from getting cigarettes from their older peers? I'm honestly interested in seeing how they make this work.
Similarly to alcohol, I suspect. Kids get people to buy them booze, but making it that much more difficult is very often enough.
Load More Replies...Smoking is awful. But, people should not be forced to not do it. It's a personal choice.
I find it ironic that as we ban smoking tobacco we are legalzing smoking weed, which has similar lung side effects. Besides people should be allowed to put whatever poisons in their body they want. Tobacco, Weed, Crack, etc. Let people be free to destroy their bodies as they wish. Tax it, and use the taxes to fund health projects to cover the costs of their harm
Yes! Go and tell all the smokers their breath is rancid. I'm sure as soon as they realise it they'll just quit on the spot. /s

The average rent in Germany is €700 a month. So I would say "Go Fuggerei!" Instead of "go Germany." Oh an it's a €1000 in the city.
Load More Replies...I am German myself and never heard of that. But apparently "fuggerei" is a district of augsburg. A catholic guy called fugger founded it to help poor people. You still have to pray 3 times a day to live in it. (That is what one website says)
Sorry..bad English: when you live in the "fuggerei" you are expected to be religious and pray 3 times a day or so
Load More Replies...I researched. In order to live here, you have to have been a resident in the area for two years, you have to be poor and you have to be Catholic. You have to agree to pray daily. You have to contribute to the upkeep of the houses and area. The village makes the money it needs by investing in forestry and... wait for it... real estate. So basically, they keep the prices low by profiteering on other property!
There is a reason why we joke about Bavaria not belonging to Germany....
Load More Replies...Arrrgh! It´s not a village, it´s a district in Augsburg called: "Fuggerei" after it was founded as a social housing project in 1516 by Jakob Fugger, aka along with Rockerfeller the richtest man who ever lived. If he were alive today he could buy Elon Musk, Bezos, Bill Gates and a pope or two and still have chump change left.
Sorry but this one is only partly true: at first it's not a village but a small part of a bigger City and you must be catholic to live there cause it was founded as catholic "village in the village". Also rent is 1 Gulden (0,88 €) and three prayers.
Well I can't go there the pope thinks I'm selfish because I chose not to have children! Guess I'm Damned!
The conditions to live there remain the same as they were 500 years ago: one must have lived at least two years in Augsburg, be of the Catholic faith and have become indigent without debt. The five gates are still locked every day at 10 PM. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuggerei
It is not a village but rather a public housing complex in Augsburg. My nephew lives there.

I once went to a Wagner opera, the orchestra was so huge that the women's chorus could barely make themselves heard over it. The song "whalien 52" by BTS uses the story of this very whale as a metaphor for loneliness. This whale emits a frequency of 52Hz which cannot be heard by other whales but it still keeps on singing. BTS used this story to convey how you may feel unheard and invisible even though you are surrounded by people. The lyrics also say 'lonely whale, let us try singing the song once more in hope that someone will hear you. ' The story is incredibly sad and the lyricism is commendable. What we perceive as them looking "guilty" is actually them showing submissive behavior due to fear. They do not associate what they did hours ago with our behavior but since they are very sensitive to our body language and tone of voice they understand that we are upset/angry and try to appease us by being submissive. It's basically a "don't hurt me, I give up" signal, same as they would do to a bigger dog that showed aggressive behavior towards them. Even if you do not yell and pretend to be calm they can easily pick up that you are in fact angry or upset
Load More Replies...Lies, my dog 100% knows shes done something wrong and will look guilty/ashamed before i even do anything.
I have to concur. Sometimes my dog looks really guilty which makes me go and look for the thing they have done. Lo and behold, that's another shoe torn up. I'd like to know what's going on in that case, if not a sense of "Oh s**t, I screwed up!"
Load More Replies...This has been known for more than a decade. It's widely known in dog training.
Load More Replies...This can be fairly easily established. Say you have a dog that looks 'guilty' when there is feces on the floor. An experimenter can place some feces on the floor when the dog is absent, then let the dog back in to the room. When the owner returns, the dog will appear 'guilty', even though they did not cause the problem. The same principle can be applied to tipped-up trash cans or torn-up sofas, with the same results.
Load More Replies...Fact is they live in the here snd now. Punishing a dog for something they did ten minutes ago just confuses them. Also please stop using your dogs name with a negative, it also confuses hhhm
Apparently, it is preferable that we keep quiet rather than help people to stop confusing and hurting their pets. Which is ironic considering how quickly they will all start virtue signalling the minute anything regarding animal cruelty is posted.
Load More Replies...This contrarian "fact" is thrown around a lot on the internet, but is not proven to any scientific rigor. Having studied evolutionary biology, I'd in fact claim the opposite. Guilt is a social mechanism and our social behavior is nothing novel in humans. Guilt likely serves an important evolutionary benefit, and is something that's been passed on from previous species in our history, even before we were monkeys. When we recognize guilt, shame, content, discomfort, curiousity in our pets it's not anthropomorphizing them, but something we have in our evolutionary code since long back since being aware of social signals is key to survival in all social species. Dogs are as concious and full beings as any humans, as least that's what evolutionary biology tells us. There is no reason they would have simpler social behaviors than we do. And besides, being sad because your best friend is dissapointed in you is a big part of guilt anyway.
You did not really study evolutionary biology or at least not in depth because what you wrote is completely wrong. While guilt is indeed a social mechanism that has an evolutionary advantage for humans, it is not the same for other mammals. What we call guilt is the ability to connect past actions to present or future negative consequences, even if past actions happened a very long time ago. Most mammals do not have that ability and dogs most certainly cannot connect them pooping on the carpet 5 hours ago with you yelling at them right now. "Dogs are as concious and full beings as any humans, as least that's what evolutionary biology tells us. There is no reason they would have simpler social behaviors than we do." Dogs are conscious beings same as cats, birds, frogs etc. but that does not mean they perceive the world in the same way. It's not even that they have "simpler" social behaviors, it's that their social behaviors are different from ours.

This is not true. They are registered as a charity and yes they do donate some money but it's just to avoid corporate taxes.
If they're donating 90% of their profits, they can keep their taxes. That being said, I'm pretty sure Rolex doesn't make the most expensive watches. Patek Philippe might.
Load More Replies...Per quora.com. Rolex is not a charitable company. An most of its money goes back into the business for profits an gains.
Graff Diamonds sold the most expensive watch ever, $55 million. Patek Phillippe has several watches that are far more than Rolex's most expensive watch, which was a mere $18 million.

Load More Replies..."Unlimited" so they don't have to pay you for them if you leave. And a free subscription is the bare minimum. Still haven't caught up with the world yet
You know studies were done and the business figured by giving you unlimited then most people would use less for fear of being seen as taking advantage of it too much. Then they also figured without set vacation days they would have to pay out unused ones at the end of year and such. Just one of those things that makes the business look good but actually is worse in some ways. I want to see someone take 5 to 6 weeks every year off and see how long they stay employed

The Detroit Zoo is a couple of kilometres away from the old Michigan State Fair grounds on Woodward Avenue. Whenever there was a circus at the fairgrounds, the elephants at the Zoo would make ultra-low frequency humming noises that were occasionally noticeable as vibrations inside their night house. Eventually they determined that the elephants at the zoo were communicating with the elephants at the fairground.
