35 Times ‘Karens’ Acted So Entitled, The Internet Had To Call Them Out For It In This Online Group
Acting like an entitled, spoiled brat won’t win you any favors and won’t make you any new friends. In fact, you’re bound to lose a few if you don’t tone it down and continue making other people’s lives a living hell.
To you and I, these people are simply huge jerks who are best left ignored. But to the internet, they’re known as ‘Karens,’ no matter their actual gender or real name. Shaming ignorant Karens has become so huge, it’s even spawned its own subreddit, the ‘Eff You Karen’ community that shows everyone how not to act if you want to be a good person.
In the mood for some more examples of unearned entitlement and outrage? Once you’re done upvoting the pics that made your jaw drop in this list, check out Bored Panda’s previous article about the ‘Eff You Karen’ community right over here.

The ‘Eff You Karen’ subreddit, founded in late 2017, is now homing in on the 1.2-million-member mark. Some of the subreddit’s rules include avoiding political topics, avoiding witch hunts, and censoring social media identities in order to protect the people being poked fun at.
They might be in the wrong and be way too entitled, but there are very few people who actually deserve being spammed by a bunch of angry internet users. Everyone makes mistakes and we need to leave enough room for people to grow and become better. Though, of course, that’s not an excuse for acting like a horrible, entitled person in the first place.

In a previous interview, I spoke about Karen memes and the context surrounding them with Matt Schimkowitz, Know Your Meme’s Senior Editor. According to him, there’s lots of potential for the meme to be insensitive and even offensive to women, so care must be taken when using this type of humor. He put it very plainly that we should all meme with caution, whatever the meme might be.

“As [the meme] grows from a parody of a common social experience of someone demanding to speak to a manager to a statement about white privilege, the stakes over the meaning of the meme grow as well,” Matt told Bored Panda.

“I think that users of the meme should be cognizant that what they're meme-ing might not be their intent anymore. It's very possible that the meme could grow even farther to exhibit misogynistic tendencies, which are somewhat already present,” Matt warned those who use Karen memes to be aware of the context.

At the core of using memes for humor lies intent. Know Your Meme’s Senior Editor Matt pointed out that the Karen meme, something that’s used and enjoyed by many people, could eventually become connected to something that many would find offensive if people with sexist beliefs started using the term as a “catchall for all women.”

Though we can’t expect memes to be completely neutral. “Meme-ing can be nihilistic artform and rewards really ugly behavior in some cases. Sometimes, what starts as a fairly inoffensive meme can grow into something really hateful, like Pepe the Frog. I could see that happening to Karen—though, I'm not really sold one way or the other on the debate."

According to Matt, it’s hard to find the exact origin of the Karen meme. However, he personally believes that the most convincing origin story is a bit from Dane Cook's 2005 comedy special , "The Friend That Nobody Likes" where Karen is given this title. "This is one of the earliest examples that we have to using a specific name to stand in for a whole type of person, and it's a comedic trope that we've seen dozens of times over the last 15 years," Matt explained the possible origins of the meme to Bored Panda.

Military Spouse Counts As Service Now
Where does this mindset come from? Their just married to someone in the military, why do they think their now entitled?
People show respect towards their spouse, so they think they deserve respect too. Common phrases include "we serve too" and "military wife is the toughest job in the military." I blame places like Seaworld for inviting military members and family of military members to stand while everyone claps.
Load More Replies...This is total crap. As a veteran, I married an active duty member. I get that some spouses do sacrifice some things. It just doesn't seem to be as much as they claim. Some have a support system, others don't. But they don't rate anything more than a civilian because they are a military spouse. Other than base privileges. They say they are doing 2 parent roles if one is deployed. Single parents do that every day. What about the spouses that stay home while the other spouse drive long-haul truck? What about airplane pilots/attendants and the families they leave behind? What about the families of the oil rig workers in the ocean, or the fishermen? I get that they may not have the longer deployment like the military, but they can be away for months sometimes. And a spouse should be b-slapped for trying to wear their spouse's rank. If they do it, court-martial the .
They're just as bad as badge whores. Women that marry a cop and then ware a tiny replica badge on a necklace just to show everyone they're married to a cop and for some reason we're supposed to give them special treatment.
Also, isn't it funny how Republicans hate giving tips an bonuses because "doing your job is already enough of a reward and that's what your paycheck is for" are the same ones that act like they're entitled to a discount and free stuff no matter where they go because of their job.

Many years ago, being a military spouse (wife, really) was very difficult. The saying was "If the Army wanted you to have a wife, they would have issued you one in your duffle bag. Junior enlisted had to seek official permission to marry. Every impediment was put in the couple's way. Post-Vietnam, the US military realized it had to expand into an organization of long-term highly skilled people, who would of course want to have families that needed to be supported. Base housing, medical care, PX shopping, etc. has closed the gap between military and civilian life (while corporate jobs have closed the gap from the other side by making its demands even greater.) But the old mentality of "Oh look how hard I have it" dies a hard death.
I feel like you should be at least fined for using being a military spouse to falsify valor.
If my wife were a nucellar physicist, would that give me the talent I would need to handle a cold fusion reactor? Perhaps I would learn a thing or two during pillow talk, but not enough to put it on a resume.
It's one thing to explain away a gap in dates like that, but don't make out that you've served!
it's like in some countries where women become "someone", with name, documents and all ONLY when married! they become WIFE OF... like an object owned by her husband
This seems to be a trend and I absolutely can not stand it. I sayyyy if they want to claim they're in the service, and they try this crap, they instantly get shipped to boot camp and then deployed. Cops wives / husbands.... same thing. I've worked LE for 15 years and my fiance doesn't say "I'm an LE husband, My future wife is a LT so I am too" Umm no you're not. And he's a litigation specialist at a bank and I don't claim to be a lawyer. I mean come one.
According to this bullshit I m a highly decorated veteran legionaire and a complete bad ass. Is trained to always being on the front line and I'm also considered a deadly weapon by just being alive! Makes total sense 😂😂😂
...and it's always been like this. My response is usually along the lines of: "Your husband wears the (stripes/chevrons/officer rank), not you."
Bill Burr covers this in-depth in his comedy. He is referring to First Ladies of the US, but it fits. Being married to a plumber doesn't qualify you to fix the pipes. LOL
A Military Spouse and family are entitled and always have been ... they are entitled to live on a military base, shop at a discount at all base stores & cafes, go with their spouses to the Officers or Chiefs Club. Entitled to full military medical care and their children may attend K-12 base schools. They are also entitled to free transportation to be with their military spouse when they are relocated. I was raised as an (entitled) military child.
As an Army brat and a former USMC wife, I can't help but wonder if she just doesn't know any better or if she just opened a fresh can of Snark. Girlfriend, you have the PX and Commissary. Count your blessings.
I think Military Spouses started the "Karen Movement". BTW, I am a military brat, a spouse x 2 (widowed), all of the male family until my generation were enlisted AND I have worked in service on several military bases serving enlisted personnel, officers and their spouses of both sexes and their families. I am still a proud non- Karen, although I have served many of them.
I don't understand why having anything to do with the military = special status/entitlement. Other countries don't do that, seems to be just an american thing. Especially when you think if a person kills in self defense they're still a murderer, is being a soldier and shooting an enemy really all that different?
"Especially when you think if a person kills in self defense they're still a murderer" Maybe that is how it is in your country, but that is not how it is in the country you are criticizing.

I am a military spouse and it's not an easy job, especially when my husband is out to sea. But it's HIS rank, not mine. I can't stand it when people insist on being called by their spouse's rank when they aren't really serving the military.
who taught these idiots, Elmo? a random orangutang? Donald duck?...
JUST NO!!!! I pity her husband who actullay put his life in line for America. What she do? Spread her legs while husband deployed??
My mother was a military spouse and all those luncheons, bridge games, fashion shows and cookbook committee meetings were DEFINITELY the same as being shot at.
Married to AF officer for 23 years, never ever would I have claimed status in this way or any way.
Amazing.... I Have 11 years USAF and I am 'amazed'... and astounded yet again by people
My mom (who is married to my father who served 32 years in the military) used to joke and say that if the Military wanted their soldiers to have wives, they would have issued them.
well, it ties into the military wanting the spouses to feel needed and respected, since they do have a hell of a lot tougher time than run of the mill marriages. long deployments, deployments on extremely short notice....having to take care of the kids and home cuz the career of the military person *has* to come first...etc. yes, i was a navy spouse....and there is a grain of truth in 'navy wife, toughest job in the navy' tshirts, mugs, license plates, et al....as long as you can also see the humor in it. obvs this particular one missed the humor part of it...
They also are a lot more subsidized than run of the mill marriages lol
Load More Replies...I get that a spouse of **active duty, deployed** service members give up a lot. A LOT. I know a wife who has literally spent maybe 2 months total with her husband in the 10 years they have been married. He has been deployed nonstop (volunteers for another tour every time), but come on - to list it on your resume? Bless. Ten bucks says the spouse is in Accounting.
While I understand why this is kind of strange, military wives do make a lot of sacrifices. I live next door to a military family and her husband was stationed overseas and gone for an entire year. That is hard. He is frequently gone at inopportune times. It is the life that they chose but there are still sacrifices for both.
I'm sure it was listed tongue in cheek. Hasn't anyone ever heard the expression, married to the military?
I tend to disagree. Having served in the US Armed Forces, I have witnessed this behavior on far too many occasions to count. Officers' wives trying to "pull rank" on enlistedmen's wives. Wives saying "We were promoted to E6." Wives berating soldiers on guard duty because they didn't salute their car because "My husband is an O4." I've seen this behavior far too much to think this example is tongue in cheek.
Load More Replies...These c***s need to get a job and stop sponging off their husband's work. It's pathetic. They have zero personality of their own.
Unfortunately, this is a thing these days. Military spouses are preferred hires now. I've seen this on many job postings as I live in an area with several military bases close by. Pisses me off because these Karens take jobs from people who actually have the experience and training to do the job. And yes, I have seen an untrained military wife Karen get a position over an experienced, trained individual.
Well, being a military spouse might not qualify you for every job, but hats off to those who "hold the fort" for our deployed military. You are unsung heroes. They are often stationed far away from family and do the job of two parents, all under the stress that their spouse might not return home, and comforting their babies who share those fears. So, definitely not Karens.
This is bad. Not Karen live bad. This is a misuse of terms and is just a con.

I went to pay for some items I wanted to purchase at a museum store. As I took out my cash, the gentleman at he register asked me to please use a card, since they couldn't safely disinfect cash.
