Also, there are 21 countries that have deemed Christianity as the state religion. The UK is one of those countries. The USA is not. There are many countries where not following religious laws can be punishable by prison, physical violence, or even death. The U.S. has a problem with right wing fundamentalists. That is a fact. But, to say this is the only country with a religion problem is just willful ignorance.

I love to doubly confuse these kinds of people when I let them know that I'm an atheistic Buddhist (Buddhist, but I don't believe the Buddha was a deity, but a mortal man and teacher). There is no concept of 'hell' in the branch I practice, so it's really fun when those people tell me I'm going to hell that they're probably not going to reach Nirvana, just to illustrate how ridiculous that phrase is.

I've got to admit that I still find the excuse of "Oh well it's a meme so it's okay" doesn't sit well with me.
