In today’s fast-paced world of amazing animations and CGI people often forget to joys of holding nothing more than a pen and paper and putting raw thoughts onto that empty, blank piece of paper.
You don’t need anything more than the bare basics to create something personal, unique and wonderful.
Pen rendering is one of the many such arts that have been making a comeback in recent times, to my great delight for this very reason.
To further promote the art, I’d like to share some of my own work that I’ve done over the years since 1998.
I hope you enjoy them and that they make you think about starting yourself!

Forest Vision
This has to be one of my favourite ink renderings. It took me over two weeks between studying at school to finish, but I simply love the results. Again, characters from my own stories are featured, though the whole picture is more of a dream in which these characters find themselves in.
Pink Akane
A line drawing of an original character. I do like to write besides drawing in what little time I have and this one is based off of a now rather old character that proved to be very popular, even infamous among the delightful little group who follow me.
Dragon’s Head
Dragons are the basic fodder of my doodles which I love drawing on almost any and every surface I can get my hands on.
Nara
This is a more recent piece in which I endevoured to show how I feel about a certain city. This city is one I’ve loved since childhood, though, sadly, I’ve haven’t had the chance to visit it yet.
One day….

Steampunk Princess
Though I love colour in general, I rather rarely feel comfortable in using it in my work as I prefer using the starkness and contrast between the white and whatever colour I decide to use as ink in a rendering. That said, I feel that the use of coloured pencils here was necessary and am rather pleased with the results.
Head of Flowers
This is an example of using only one monochrome pen colour to achieve a sense of mass.
I love using different ways of achieving this: dots, strokes, hatching, whirls, shading in, all giving that almost tangible feel by using the absolute minimum by the way of tools.
Kasa no Onna
This is one of my most recent pieces. It is a very simple little picture, but, perhaps that is a good thing. I drew this in record time and think that maybe that adds to it’s feeling of lightness and the happy-go-lucky attitude of the character.
It was inspired by a photo on deviantart.
