I’m Documenting Subcultures Worldwide For 10 Years: Iran’s Freedom Activists, Exorcism In Ethiopia, Satan Community And More
My name is David Tesinsky, I'm an independent photographer of the subcultures, urban cultures, street stories and people's stories in general AKA reportage/social documentary photography. I was born on April 1990 in Prague.
I'm always in search for somehow controversial, unique, special lifestyles and I'm capturing bright moments and also problematics of nowadays. To me, photography can be the cure for the people which can heal people through seeing other people's stories captured in a specific way. It's a great motivation for me to capture such moments which makes people realize things or just be simply enriched by knowing and seeing that.
I'm photographing subcultures and different people's stories worldwide. For example activists and new generation of freedom in Iran, exorcism rituals in Ethiopia, tragi-comical life of Japanese businessmen, Rap as a religion in Detroit, NY and Baltimore, living legends and real VS fake Rastafarians in Jamaica, life of the drug addicts in Prague, soldiers in Ukraine, Satan community in Prague, life in slums in many Asian countries and some more.
I got my first camera when I was 12 and I was bothering my classmates, I was much more into skateboarding at that time so it took a while before I found a higher meaning of it. Then I've started studying photography in Prague but the trouble was I get myself more into punk rock, grunge and playing guitar than photography. Before I've finished my graduation I've decided to quit the school as I was only sleeping there and finally get myself on the plane to USA where I was searching for the inner goal of my focus and my meaning in that focus. I've started to travel a lot since I was about 20 into Asian countries such as India, Nepal, Cambodia, Thailand, Japan etc. It was always very low cost which was the reason it was quite possible to stay for even few months for me. Sometimes I had to sleep in the park or in some wrong place in Africa where I found myself in the middle of a bloody fight because of me and my "expensive bag".

You can seriously say this after all the c**p that's happening now in the US?

Actually here in Czechia we have these newly created social workers that help people with disabilities to have intimate life. Some of them really actively having sex with them. They´re called sexual assistants.

They have to go a long way to reach freedom of opinion... I feel pity for them.

Because there is one creed above them all, one that spans the world ! One that lives deep within when it can`t soar free, but frees the spirit of all who heed it`s call. And its name is Rock And Roll ! Kiss said it best : "God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you Put it in the soul of everyone" !!!
It's surprise me how everything turns into racism you can't relate bad actions from a group of people into a religion every body makes a mistake but we shouldn't relatre this into Islam because Islam is perfect it's humans who always makes mistakes A Nuns pictures also grabbed my attention I haven't read anything that says Christianity problems why when it's about some one who dress like Islam you always mention the religion
My mind....makes me sad some people always look to turn nothing, into something.

In South Africa they get carefully washed, dried, and curled up under a large woollen cap in Rasta Colours. I don't think most clean people anywhere in the world want their dreads to rot close to their skull.
I was blessed and got to experience Jamaica off the beaten path. So much love for the people and their culture.

How in the hell did they get on the tile roof without the tiles breaking? I have a tiled roof and have to remove them before climbing up they shatter.
I can only imagine the scene before this pic, where they have to climb the roof naked. (Don't kill my vibe, I know they removed the close when they were on top, but seriously just imagine them doing it all naked)
The Happiest Day. Slum In Osaka, Japan
Yes I was truly ignorant to the fact that there were homeless in japan, specially since their population is declining maybe they took care of the few hobos they had, I guess one is not allowed to be ignorant at bored panda
Since the Japanese people treat their elders with great respect, the homeless ones must come from places where they have no family. Another very sad photo.
japan has social problems like homeless, domestic violence, incest and mental healt peoblems like depression and social anxiety they had a high rate of suicide and for example "hikikomori" people that are in need of mental treatment but dont receive any help because japanese people see mental health as an embarrassment in society, families prefer to cover the issue instead of help their love ones. many tsunami refuges still living in temporary housing because the government has not yet resolve the problem of cleaning areas affected by the tsunami, NHK channel often interview people that still live in temporary housing, because apparently some areas are not clean and some just not fit to live. so probably some homeless are people that lose their family and homes in the tsunami.
What does that guy in the middle have stuffed into his pants? So much stuff! LOL!
Why do people think that Japan is an amazing magical county without flaws? It's a nice but there are also bad things in Japan. That's normal

From what I understand the animals in foreign circus' for the most part, are treated very well. Rather than being beaten and abused to learn tricks, they're given treats and treated as pets. So it's a lot like a dog owner teaching his dog to roll over. That's why you'll see tigers and lions and some other animals walking the streets in this manor. They are respected for the fantastic beasts that they are, not beaten into submission. Again, some not all I'm sure.
Load More Replies...My bet is that the tiger would prefer a zebra to the zebra crossing.
Only that there are no zebras where he originally comes from...but ok. For the sake of the metaphore...
Load More Replies...Exotic and large animals shouldn't ever be in the entertainment business. They should be free to run in the wild.
You are right. Still, there is hardly any "wild" left and even then tigers are being poached in order to use their penises as viagra in TCM
Load More Replies...I was in this JOJO circus last year, they have about 8 tigers (with tigerbabyes too) and they have sooo much love like family members. Jaromir have them like children. They do a tricks for meal, not beaten.

Iran's Children Of Islam
I've been through your website and your photos are so powerfull,i can't honestly tell which serie is my favorite, every one is some kind of hypnotic... It's a very great work you did there.
The iran moslem are mostly syiah. That is why almost every girl there is suffering. They are forced to marry someone older and sometimes sexually harrased if their parents allowed them to. All in the name of their faith to their imam. It is not Islam that I know. I am moslem and Islam is so much different with the picture of Islam in Iran.

Before Night Falls, About The Cuban Transformistas. Havana
Fidel Castro was a total homophobe. It was illegal to be homosexual in Cuba until 1979. Having said that, Castro told Mexican journalist Carmen Lira in 2010 that he was responsible for the vile treatment of gay people.
In 1981 government's policies changed drastically, with the government issuing "In Defence of Love", a publication that stated homosexuality as a variant of human sexuality, with government officials advocating all sanctions against gays should be opposed. In 1986 one of the (still) most progressive national committees in the world regarding sexual education was created in Cuba, with praises from the international community. In 1988 all pre-revolution laws that criminalized homossexuality were banned. In 2010 Fidel Castro apologized for government policies in the 70s, claiming it was a "great injustice" and stating that " "If anyone is responsible, it's me.... We had so many and such terrible problems, problems of life or death. In those moments, I was not able to deal with that matter"! His niece, Mariela Castro Espín is the director of the National Center for Sex Education (CENESEX) and an advocate for LGBT rights.

Seen some exorcisms caught on tape. I think it is obvious youre community believes in the wrong things they will make you believe it too.
Well it depends of the reason of exorcisme. I mean, if you are sick and there is a cure, take the cure. But if it just help you coop with something else or in addition of the cure I don't see the problem. My father fell in a pit (8 meters high) at work when he was young. He had multiple surgeries, painkillers, plasters, infiltrations.... but he was always in pain and didn't want to get addict with the painkillers. He was an intelligent and cultivate man but having try everything doctors could do for him, he went time to time to see a "magnétiseur" (can't find a translation, a man supposed to act on your problem with his energy basically). The guy was doing for free, considering he had a gift to share with people. My dad considered those seances as a placebo, but it helped him. Well educated people should prevent themselves to be judgmental...
