Wait, that actually makes sense
Wait, did that just happen?
My friend adopted a dog who also unexpectedly gave birth to a single baby. They named the little one BOGO (Buy One, Get One).
So precious! Stella looks like she's going to be a Great mama to her little bug! Is bug a Manx like his Beautiful mama? Congratulations, Manx cats are amazing, they tend to be hyper & love to jump high & are funny & fearless! I have a ginger Manx Persephone (Perse) & had her since she was 8 weeks old, she's 12 now & she still is very hyper, loves to jump high & is very funny & fearless!
Wait, I’ve definitely done this before
Can you imagine the relief the kitty must feel? Safe! Beautiful kitty.
Approximately 6.5 million companion animals end up in US shelters every year. Roughly half of these are dogs, while cats make up the other half. Fortunately, though, the situation has gotten better: the number has dropped from 7.2 million in 2011. But that doesn’t mean there still isn’t room for improvement.
And in times of the worldwide pandemic, when good news has become a rarity, there’s been a long-awaited surge in pet adoption. All over the country, from New York to Wisconsin and North Carolina to Colorado and New Mexico, animal shelters are reporting massive growth in the numbers of animals they’ve adopted out or placed in foster homes.
Kitty Block, the president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States, told Wired that the demand in fostering has increased by 90 percent in some cities. “Folks who don’t have animals for one reason or another, because of their work schedule or their travel schedule, that’s all changed right now,” she said.
Not all heroes wear capes, some just hit snooze
You can see the change by the look on his face. He looks happy, he knows he’s safe.
Plot twist: I’m the boss here
Because he chose you and was determined that you wouldn’t leave without him!
Wait, that actually makes sense
I once rescued a tiny kitten who did the same thing. She actually did that her whole life. Even when she weighed 20+ pounds!!
So cute! My munchkin cat likes to do that too, proud cat-mama here. <3
Meanwhile, New York City is facing a new shortage. After running out of bikes recently, it is now coming up short on dogs to foster. “For the moment, we definitely don’t have any dogs left to match” with foster volunteers, Anna Lai, the marketing director at Muddy Paws, told Bloomberg. “Which is a great problem to have,” she added.
If you also feel tempted to adopt a pet and let a companion animal into your life, it should never be an impulse decision. Bored Panda reached out to Rob Young, the head of center operations at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, who shared some insights on what you should know before and after adopting a cat or a dog.
Even during the times of the pandemic when we all feel more lonely and in need of a companion than usual, “getting a pet should never be an impulsive decision,” said Rob. As a result, Battersea animal rescue in London, England continues to follow their normal rehoming procedure, such as “assessing the motivations and suitability of new owners.”
Wow, Didn’t See That Coming
That’s awesome!! Bonded pairs are so much harder to find homes for. Glad these two found you!!
Well, didn’t see that coming
When she figures out she's safe with you you'll have the best friend of your life.
I’ve always been drawn to the oddballs. They get looked over so often but they love just as hard. ❤️❤️
Wait, that actually makes sense
Bunsen! Adopting is a well made decision. Every animal deserves a good home.
and child :) Adoption in every form is hecka awesome.
Load More Replies...Bunson Honeydew! Then "Beaker" can be added later.
Load More Replies...What a sweetheart. I have three cats and one of them a tabby like Bunsen. I wouldn't want to be without them as I self isolate most of the time due to low immunity.
Oh my goodness that face 🥰 such a Sweetie. Love that expression, its basically exactly how I am feeling right now about this pandemic. I pray that after this comes to an end and life goes back to its new normal, nobody gives up on their pets and say well I don't need you anymore. I can go visit my friends again. Animals are family and should NEVER be discarded in any way! Best of luck on your new life Bensen, and keep that silly expression, it will bring joy to everyone you meet, as it did to me 😍
Moreover, Rob said that their rehoming staff “will additionally consider the impact of Government restrictions on new owners.” That means that they will be checking that potential “owners are able to provide a setup that will still be suitable for a new pet once lockdown is over and they return to their usual lifestyle.”
Whether we like it or not, there will always be pet owners who are struggling for whatever reason to take care of their dogs and cats. Rob said that “Contacting a rescue center is the most responsible decision if you can no longer care for a dog or cat,” and even if it’s a very difficult decision, he asked to “put that fear aside for the sake of your pet’s welfare and bring them to a rescue.”
“You’ll never be judged or shamed for making the responsible decision,” promised Rob and reminded that the wellbeing of an animal should be of the highest priority.
Wait, That Actually Makes Sense
These two bonded kitties will be best friends forever. I wish mine got along half as well.
This is an incredibly touching photo. If cats can feel love, and I believe they can, this is love.
All creatures - "great and small" - can know love, whether it comes to them from other creatures or from humans.
Load More Replies...Lucky you, I have two friends who would love to take in moving third friend's cat, but can't because their current cats freak out.
So sweet ♡ beautiful cats too my younger cat hates her sister and wants to be the only cat in the household, but her older sister was here first, living a peaceful, quiet life until the little devil came along.
Well, that escalated quickly
Ohh man! Frodo is on my list of kitty names since we have Podo Kodo Leo and Shadow
Well, that escalated quickly
Not really. He has cataracts and is probably blind or nearly blind.
Load More Replies...Not gonna lie, this slaps
I remember seeing my sister's kitten - tiniest little thing - sitting at the feet of her 6ft 7in boyfriend. Was so cute.
Load More Replies..."I'm not a cat person" ---- last words of someone right before they become a cat person!
Well, that escalated quickly
So the kid looks super happy! Bet they're gonna be best friends forever!
Big Mood, Low Effort
Yes, every cat is a little fluffy Borg, only they can take over my world anytime.
Load More Replies...Men can be so susceptible to a kitten's charms..... sometimes it takes a little time !
Awwww 😋 good husband, and good kitty for working your magic so quickly
Awww oliver looks exactly like my own recently adopted kitty! My heart ;-;
Plot twist I didn’t see coming
That's how I got my black kitty brothers . Somebody put them in a dumpster ! So I took them in fully intending to find them a home or a shelter . We all fell in love with them. Even my grumpy husband who said he didn't want any more pets than we have lol
what he wants and what he gets are not the same, are they?
Load More Replies...yes. Indoor cats (and cats should be) do not need a bell, and the collar looks too tight.
Load More Replies...Awww ♡ he chose you to be his human, and thats that! Ennoy your new life together ❤
Well, that escalated quickly
A lot of times spots like that are due to a brain allergy and/or fungal infections due to the high blood sugar brought in by grain heavy dog food.
Wait, that actually makes sense
Wait, did I just relate?
What? That's a thing one can do? Like...how??? I need more information.
It can be done. The dairy around here was closing last year and a lot of their cows ended up being adopted. :)
Load More Replies...That's a buffalo, cape, water....possibly female, but not a moo cow
gracefullikeagazelle, that is reality, this is what happens to calves - billions of them. Please good people realize it!! Ditch dairy, please. "....we are talking about the fight against injustice.....We feel entitled to artificially inseminate a cow, and when she gives birth, we steal her baby, even though her cries of anguish are unmistakable." The exerts from Joaquin Phoenix's moving Oscar speech, 2 - 9 -2020. Animal agriculture is extremely cruel to animals, poisons and destroys our planet in much grater degree than industrial and car pollution combined, and dairy just as meat and eggs, causes chronic inflammations and diseases in humans (arthritis, diabetes, heart diseases, various cancers, etc.) Please choose compassion, choose life. The road to better you starts on your plate.
Load More Replies...CARMEN FLORES I see what you did there =D
Load More Replies...Plot twist, but make it relatable
Wee tiny baby. Hope it was older than three months when you adopted it. (Unless it as abandoned, but please do not adapt ANY animal before 13 weeks of age.)
If an animal is up for adoption then an animal is up for adoption. Walking away because it’s “too young” only means it will go to someone else. Sooo...
Load More Replies...I had a 2 kittens from a friend who takes in strays, he always gets them spayed but on one accession the stray was already pregnant. I offered to take in two and got them at 8 weeks, one of them was the same size as this cutie. I took them to a vet to get them checked over and was told that cats can get pregnant whilst pregnant ?! Hence why you get so many ‘variety’s’ in a strays litter, although my two were brother and sister one of them was at least two weeks younger but when the cat goes into labour they are all born. Thankfully my little Luna survived being born early.! She is now all grown up and the most beautiful happy girl. Please stop criticising this guy, he’s given the kitten a loving home that’s all that matters. 🐾🐾🐾✨❤️
One comment concerned breeders. I have no idea about them but almost every cat I have ever had started out its life with me at 6 to 8 weeks. Those are the "free to good home" ones that I got from friends, local businesses etc. The ones that were dumped at the foot of my driveway were probably around 4 weeks old. Fergal and Fiona just turned 14. Mickey was 4 weeks found in an inner city park. He lived to 16. My point is the love matters more than anything else!
i've got all my kittens and puppies at 7-8 weeks. They all survived fine.
Okay, I’m intrigued
Don't worry, kid; you'll get the hang of those ears sooner or later.
Plot twist I didn’t see coming
I so would be also; my biggest heartache is a hubby who developed a strong allergy to cats.... I wonder how much he paid the allergist ... hmmm.......
Didn’t See That Coming
I have a name u probably already have one but i think Suka or Sesi is a good name
Mood: Peak Relatable
No, no. It is spelled "peets". Much more appropriate.
Load More Replies...We also have an older female cat. Smudgy has been a surrogate mother to every new kitten we’ve brought into the house—-unwillingly at first, until they bring her around. Then she’s a doting mother fussing over her kitten. BTW, she has never had kittens of her own.
Love this picture. ♡ one kitty showing off toe beans while the other is comfortably napping 😍 beautiful cats BTW.
Wait, that actually makes sense
Thank you for rescuing Mama Rabbit and her babies. And, the description for the sub-human is spot on.
I second that and I will use that term for so-called people like that!
Load More Replies...Rabbits make incredible pets and are super clean. Litter box trained in minutes. Love rabbits.
Can’t thank you enough for saving all these little lives. The cruelty of some is only outdone by the kindness of others.
Awww... thank you for saving her and all of her babies 💗 their beautiful
Incredible how some, morons have animals, then dump them, there are several options, to safely place animals, it doesn't matter the reason, just be humane please !!!
I also thank you for the their rescue. As for the person or persons that dumb them I can’t put in print what I would call them.😡😡
Can’t Unsee This Now
Yup I have one of those. Opened my door, he walked in and ten years later still rules his domain.
Plot twist, but make it relatable
Deaf dogs cope beautifully well. Animals with disabilities are amazing.
I adopted a 11 year old deaf dog. I taught her hand commands. Missy was a very good student, living another 5 years.
Wait, this actually makes sense
What breed is he? I am thinking of getting a dog and I am narrowing out my choices.
Your thinking of getting a dog? Please list the characteristics you want!! I might be able to help!! Things like personality, purpose (companion, working, hunting ect.), do you want a couch potato or someone you can run with?
Load More Replies...Can’t Unsee That Now
Those are the type of adoption-stories I want to see! Grown-up dogs and cats need homes, don't just go shop for the puppies and kitten, please. My girl at home was probably 4 when I got her - maybe older - and my last dog was 6. Best. Decision. Ever.
Plot twist, but make it relatable
Even as adults, animals just love to listen to the heartbeat of someone they love.
Marley's Mutts is based here in kern county. It's an awesome place ♡
Plot twist: Didn’t see that coming
He is so cute, his coloring is beautiful to, nice and bright 😍 you can call him sunny
Not how I pictured this going
Sounds like they'd be bad pet parents anyway. Bullet dodged
Load More Replies...You got the better home in the end sweetie pie. So adorable - who could resist this little one?
When I read this yesterday in the paper, I legitimately cried. I know doggo knows no different but what kind of person does that? Thankfully these flakey people who don't deserve an animal didn't get that cutie pie.
I couldn't agree with you more!!! I got tears in my eyes when I read what happened and then saw his cute photos too. I'm so glad he has a home that deserves & "shows up" for him forever!!!
Load More Replies...may the people who didn't show up be cursed with bad luck for eternity
my neighbor was taking care of a doggo (whos name was reck after the peoples relationship ended, wich is duuuumb) and they never came back and her dog had just died so now she has a new sweet doggo!
How precious is he 🥰 glad he found a good home. Sounds like the no-shows wouldn't have been a good match for him anyway.
Plot twist, but make it relatable
Wait, that’s actually true?
I hate to think about what the poor kitty has been through. I'm glad that she is coming around.
Ohhhh. "Pets" I was looking for the pets the cat adopted. Your comment made me realise they mean pats.
Load More Replies...Having fostered dozens of traumatised cats (apparently I'm really good with them), I totally understand the joy of that moment. Well done. She's a lucky cat to have you as her hooman.
That is wonderful 💖💖💖. Thank you for your kindness and patience with this shy, scared girl. Sometimes it takes a long time for fearful pets to start trusting again. This is a special day for both of you. I loved reading this news!
Thank you for adopting a senior girl. She is beautiful. It must be the best feeling for her to be letting her guard down like that ❤
Didn’t See That Coming
Wait, I actually needed this today
How is that important when the dog has been rescued. Picking up on spelling????
Load More Replies...No way is that puppy 9 months old. Maybe 9 weeks. Judging from the paws, it won't be a giant either when it's finished growing, but cute anyway
He’s too damn small for 9months and everyone is worrying about how they spell his breed. 9 weeks is more like it.
probably accidentally put months instead of weeks. I did the same thing when I was telling a friend about my new kitten.
Load More Replies...Low-key but life-changing
It makes my heart so happy to see these dogs and cats finally get a forever home, thank you 😊.
No one asked, but here we are
I know this is a joke, but Jackson Galaxy has some tips on YouTube for cat owners on how to encourage cats not to hassle their humans for food - AND without resorting to squirt guns.
We trained our cat not to jump on tables or surfaces, and not to go upstairs. It took a while, but you have to be firm and persistent. She did still go upstairs sometimes, but we never ever caught her on a table or kitchen surface.
I think I would enjoy having a cat if I could train them not to jump on surfaces, especially kitchen counters.
Load More Replies...An all to familiar phenomenon in my house—-only multiply it by 4 cats and add 1 dog.
Either you eat with the cat on the floor, or you also set the table for the cat...enough space is available for both variants but only one wouldn't cause any back pain....you decide...
I had a cat that was so insistent on getting into whatever I ate, that I had to actually begin standing when I ate. She never weighed more tan 5 pounds. Stayed kitten like her entire life, but man, I had to fight her for control of the cereal bowl! She had a death grip once she got her paw over the edge of my bowl, hahaha. Sure miss that little s**t.
I want to up vote this but this picture makes me nervous on so many levels.
Wait, that actually makes sense
Didn\'t see that coming
Happy new life Lux - may it be full of belly rubs, walks and the right amount of treats!
She looks so happy! Like she's smiling! <3 and those ears are ready for take off!

Load More Replies...I knew someone who rescued three baby house sparrows. When they fledged and he tried to release them, two flew away, but one stayed. He kept it.
Bird releases need to be done with care - sometimes it takes a little while.
