The other advantage is that it gives much extra wall-space, as kids want to ruin this design with their various fling-of-the-week posters and memorabilia and knick-knacks.

The top bunk has no apparent guard rail. although one could be added. My oldest daughter fell from a top bunk when I was young and stupid - broke her spleen and after surgery had to live with a massive scar. This was 30+ years ago and the doctor opened her from breastbone to pelvis.

I would worry about falling off the top. It needs a rail. Looks great though, nice overall design.

Bored Panda spoke to three certified tidying experts who follow in the footsteps of the renowned organizing guru Marie Kondo. The mantra for putting things in order like a pro sounds simple—things should spark joy and if they don’t, you’re better off without them. Helen Youn, a platinum level KonMari consultant, explains “the first step to start is to think about why you want to tidy and the life that will bring you the most joy. Often when people decide it’s time to change, they just want to have an organized and clutter-free space, but you need to also think about how that will actually impact your life, but you need to also think about how that will actually impact your life—would you read more as a result? Entertain more? Start working out? Think about all the things you enjoy doing that bring you joy. By choosing to keep only the things that bring you joy, you will create a home that supports your ideal life.”

Just nope. All the dust bunnies that would end up collecting in those drawers every time one sweeps the steps. Having to bend over and kneel on the steps to pull out what you need. Having to remember what is stored in each step. The small amount of storage space for reach drawer compared to the difficulty of accessing it. There cost off installing such a system. The opportunity for yookai to take up residence and terrorize you daily as you go up and down the steps. No thanks.

I've been doing this since forever. Some sheets of MDF or 3/4inch ply, cut to size in BigBoxStore and you're done. If you go fancy, build to IKEA dimensions and put in their drawers, otherwise simple rolling boxes or self-made drawers.

Reality doesn’t always meet expectations, especially when it comes to cleaning on a tight budget. Lifestyle consultant Amanda Scanlan from Home Nurturing assures readers that “tidying doesn’t need to be an expensive undertaking. Use what you already have to organise your belongings. Shoe boxes or any media boxes from laptops, tablets or phones that you may have lying around are ideal for keeping like items together. For the kitchen, large glass jars or bottles can be reused and work really well for storing food, just remove the labels to reduce the visual clutter. Old or odd Tupperware containers that no longer 'spark joy' are also useful for keeping like items together.”

And now, we’re asking for a friend: it seems like everyone around me is having domestic makeovers except me. Why is that? Amanda Scanlan confirms it’s not all in your head: “I definitely think that more and more people are willing to make changes when it comes to tidiness. We have a greater understanding of health and wellbeing and the simple life choices we can make to improve it and reduce stress. Such as eating well, exercising more, spending time with loved ones, doing activities that we enjoy and find meaningful, and cultivating more positive feelings like joy and gratitude, etc. Moreover, we are getting better at understanding environmental issues and the impact that our daily choices can have towards this.”

Every office should have these! At my old work we had a quiet room with a sofa where people could turn the light out and have a sleep at lunch time. It was so convenient for migraine sufferers like me, only way to get through the day sometimes. I miss that :(

Great idea! The train set is already set-up and ready to go and doesn't have to dissembled after use. You can see it pulls out further to make it more comfortable and of course sitting on a pillow would make it super comfy.

I don’t get it. So when you’re done with your tea or meal and you fold it back up, you then utilize that floor space for what? Walking around?

Well, yes. If the apartment is small, floor space is important. We also have a folding table we put away when it's not in use.

Unless that door is right next to the tub, that's a total waste of money and time. I have an "over the door towel rack" and I gave up on it after dripping across the bathroom a few times to get to my towels.

I made something similar to this with some rustic rope and poles to create a frame which is hung on the door frame and the towels hang over the poles. It's great and really saves space in my tiny bathroom. Healthier too as the towels aren't bunched up so dry quickly between people washing their hands

Als it doesn't work very well (I have something similar). The steam and heat can't get away. On a normal ironing board it's cloth on an open surface. Even with a towel underneath, the steam gets trapped.

I'd rather have the large table. It would be a sewing area, an art table, a craft, table , a folding laundry table, a place to eat with friends table, and a cleaned off table when the mood strikes.

I have this and I love it. I keep most things in closed containers and wipe everything every day. Since I already wipe everything down everyday, it's not much extra work at all, and the extra storage is so handy and the decorative items add a nice touch. I can't imagine how I loved without it since there is no counter space and only a very shallow medicine cabinet!

My 3 boys had so many books and Beanie babies at one point that I put them allon bookshelves and made them fake "Library cards" which applied to the books and thr Beanie Babies. They could only take out 3 at a time and had to "sign" them out on a clipboard. This was fun for them, they couldn't even write their names yet but they had fun trying, they actually liked the system more than I thought they would. And belie it or not, it worked! No more finding animals and books all over the floor.

You should NEVER store your onions with or close to your potatoes. Not only to the ethylene gasses from the onions cause the potatoes to sprout, the combined moisture from both will result in a fetid soggy rotten mess of both.

Dumb idea. This is FILO Storage (first in, last out), which means that the oldest veggies accumulate at the bottom and you will just have to empty it out frequently to prevent things from rotting. That is why the fridge has flat drawers or bins for rapid access to this sort of thing.

Wouldn’t the metal be a bit hard on soft fruit/vegetables like tomatoes? Plus, being that deep means having to empty the whole thing out to get to what’s on the bottom before it rots.

This railing is too low to be space-saving, so at this point it's just for the aesthetic. I have a kitchen railing with baskets, but they sit much higher, allowing me to fit stuff underneath.
