This Is Dina. She Volunteers At Our Local Library As A Reading Dog. Kids With Difficulties Read For Her And She Does Not Judge
I love dogs like these, we have one at our public library too and the kids love reading to her!
Yes we have read to me dogs in Tucson too... so great for kids or anyone who needs a non judgmental listening ear!
Load More Replies...This is just an innocent joke. No need for downvotes. (Upvoted back up)
Load More Replies...She may not understand the words but I bet she loves being spoken to.
Wonderful idea! Every kid should be in contact with dogs. They can be so helpful and teach them/us so much!
This Entrance To The Kids Section At Our Local Library
What a great way to engage the kids fantasies before they even pick up a book.
This Library Has A Directory For Topics People Might Be Embarrassed To Ask For
This is really amazing, making sure people find a helpful book that they otherwise might be too ashamed to ask for!
Not that any of these are things you need to be ashamed for, but it might be difficult to ask for them when you fear judgment from the people around you
Load More Replies...Exactly - I'm always so embarrassed to go to a library for a cheesy romance novel. I know I shouldn't be but I just can't help it. (Awesome idea though, really not trying to say romance novels should be on this list!)

In my experience the quality of the cover is often a clue on how much the publisher cares about the quality of the book itself, therefore judging a book by its cover is not always wrong.
In my experience sometimes publishers - even big, famous publishing houses - don't know what looks good on the cover and can be very unimaginative or under time pressure to get the book published. The author has nothing to do with the cover and thus it says nothing about the quality of the book
Load More Replies...These look really lovely! A lot of care went into making these covers, despite them being “simple“.
I love this concept, specially after a life of reading ... appreciate the surprise.
This Library Tells You How Much Money You’ve Saved By Using The Library
Libraries are so amazing because they are a way for lower income people to read and get educated!
Not only for lower income people. My mom basically lives in the nearby library :)
Load More Replies...I visit my local library twice a week. It's one of the few things I am able to do after developing PTSD. My librarians are so kind to me and notice when i don't come. It means so much to be acknowledged, I feel safe once I'm inside with all the books around me. I once accidentally spilt coffee over a quantum physics book, they said I was the only person to ever read it and let me keep it. I live below the poverty line and was worried about the cost of replacing it, but left that day feeling cared about. :D
I’m glad you have such a good experience with libraries. That’s really nice.
Load More Replies...The title of the book on that receipt shows my feelings toward libraries. Honestly the library is probably the only place I feel calm, and I can't thank libraries and librarians enough for what they've provided.
I spend at least $30 a year at the library. And, it's ridiculously easy to renew books online. Somehow, I still managed to rack up those overdue fees.
The library is important for people like myself, I prefer to hold the book and not read online !!!
My Local Library Has Bee Hive In The Kids Section, With A Tube That Leads To The Outside
Same, makes me uncomfortable even though I'm fond of bees and they're really important to the ecosystem.
Load More Replies...I hope that's a very sturdy construction, but I personally would have loved watching it.
It's important that we teach kids the value of bees. Without bees, we would not have food.
My Local Library Has Dozens Of Different Cake Pans To Check Out
Quite a few automotive chains do that as well, but you have to put a deposit when you check out the tool, which is returned in full when you return the tool, as long as it's in decent shape, otherwise it becomes yours permanently
Load More Replies...I think this may be how libraries can really thrive in such a digital age... make more offerings than books!
i absolutely love that! get a fun shape for a birthday or holiday without needing it forever
In my city libraries lend toys and things but not cake pans ): I wish they did
Load More Replies...WOW! That’s so weird but necessary. I never have the cake pans I need because I rarely bake. I hate spending money on these things. That is really cool.

My School's Library Has Noise-Level Guides That Change Colour When It Gets Too Loud
My local library desperately needs this. I can't believe the number of people sitting around watching videos on their phones with the volume full blast, no earphones, in the middle of a g.d. library.
When I was little it was understood that whispers only in the library. Now it's whatever goes.
Seriously I would be tempted tobe loud just to see it change colors but if only it turned rainbow colors as a reward every 5-10min of not going up on volumes to reward the quiet curious and loud folks and even more rewards every different hours or so for example disco colors every half an hour for a silent disco party ahaha
My son is on the autism spectrum, and had difficulty understanding what we meant by an “inside voice,” and we happened to find a sound-activated stoplight at a neighbor’s yard sale that worked in a similar manner (with an adjustable “red light” level), and it helped him learn.

Yeah.. Why do so many guys lose their shirts? I mean come on! Get a bigger wardrobe.
Maybe their wardrobe is too big, hence why they are losing them... :0)
Load More Replies...The fact that on the bottom shelf is a ‘w’ in the ‘b’ section bother me -_-

Maybe they're the type of guys who'd give someone the shirt off their back. But it looks like the shirt comes off for quite a different reason...
My Local Library Has Vault You Can Go Into To Talk On Your Phone
Local Library Has A Community Jigsaw Puzzle
i'd finish that up in a few hours and if anyone would try to help or interrupt me i'd throw them out into the reading garden and lock the door xD
That explains your last name... :D
Load More Replies...I would feel horribly tempted to steal a piece so the puzzle would never be completed. *Insert evil laughter*
I bet there would be one or two people who'd go and steal a few pieces so the jigsaw will never get finished.
We have a community puzzle in my 55+ community. Many RV resorts have puzzles in their clubhouses.
Now who's the town a*s who takes that one piece? We all know there's one.
If someone takes a pice though... IT WOULD BE SO FRUSTRATING! ANY HUMAN THAT WOULD DO THAT IS SECRETLY A DEMON!
This Sign At My University With The Number For The Library Police
Thats a great idea. Usually asking in person to people to be silent just brings trouble.
^^So right! The person being rude tries to make the confronter the rude one - about every time!
Load More Replies...We have this in the cinemas in my country, work like a charm!
No need of it when you look like James Gandolfini and can stand right by the noisy people with closed fists, fierce eyes and a sinister smile of repressed anger.
This is a little saddening. We as a population are doing away(IMO) with the skills required to have civilized conversation and learned respect for others. We've become way to dependent on technology. Kids don't know how to ask for assistance because it's not common anymore to talk. Just Google it, Ask Siri or send a text! Heaven forbid you have to interact with a life person who's job (librarian) it is to help.
The Mystery Section In San Jose State University's Library Has A Secret Bookshelf
A library,...hopefully having The Diary of Anne Frank, but not knowing the content. A shame.
Banned Books Display At My Local Library
Harry Potter has been banned in some religious countries/towns because it supposedly encourages children to do witchcraft
Load More Replies...Fun fact: the captain underpants kids series got more calls to be banned than the 50 shades of grey series.
I was going to say, I hope one of those books is Captain Underpants. I've read the first four years ago and thought they were hysterical.
Load More Replies...Catcher In The Rye, Huckleberry Finn, 1984, Harry Potter and To Kill A Mockingbird are all commonly banned in schools.
Why is TKAM (To Kill a Mockingbird) banned? At my high school, freshmen were assigned to read TKAM. And analyze it for themes of racism and others. I guess it's banned because some people don't want to talk about racism.
Load More Replies...It's all fun and games until some unsuspecting child accidentally grabs Lolita....for real though this is an amazing idea but I feel like a lot of the banned books now are classics like Hickleberry Finn or To Kill a Mockingbird and mostly those are required reading. To be fair I'm not 100% sure what's on the banned book list now a days aaannnd I'm now off to The Google Cave to find out.
I don't think Lolita will be at the children's section, so I don't think there's any worry of a child picking that one up!
Load More Replies...What an excellent way to teach/explain the evils of censorship. I'd love to know where this library is.
This Mural At My School Has Fahrenheit 451 Positioned On The Fire Extinguisher
I thought that the books were real and that there was a free toy fire extinguisher inside!
Beautiful idea, but still not a good idea to camouflage the location of the fire extinguisher..
It looks nice, but all the colors in the mural could make it tough to spot the extinguisher in an emergency.
It took me way too long to realise that there wasn't a tiny fine extinguisher embedded in the spine.
I thought that was a tiny fire extinguisher on the spine of a book.

The Library Places The Books On The Lower Shelves On Their Sides So The Titles Are Easier To Read
My pet hate (UK) is that the library sticker on the bottom of the spine always covers up either a part of the author's name or part of the book title.
The downside to this is the spine of hardcover books will break over time...
Our Librarian This Halloween
After being told countless times by students that he looks a lot like a certain TV character, our librarian finally gave in and embraced his inner sociopath this Halloween. He sat like this for the first hour the library was open.
98% pure blue rock candy. Blue raspberry has the best flavor, but cotton candy provides the best color match. (According to students...) ;)

While not quite as nice-looking as this, Amazon has a couple clocks that are similar. https://smile.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Word+clock
Glad it’s not in words with hour, min, sec, & nano flipping through.. Id be too busy reading the time & getting mesmerized by the nanosecond madly flipping through.
A Mini Library Modeled After The Building Behind It
What is this?? A library for ants?? It has to be at least 3 times bigger!
It's a little free library, it's basically a mailbox that stores books that you can take and give more books.
Load More Replies...I LOVE Little Free Libraries! I carry books in my car so I can make donations if I see one.

Laptops You Can Borrow At The Austin Public Library
that wouldn't be a good idea a you know some people in our country will definitely not handle it well or worst they will take them home never to return. . . This will be appropriate in high end libraries and not for take home reasons.
Load More Replies...I have never craved anything at my library more. Writer’s paradise!!!
The library in my city was recently renovated and made so much better. They now offer this same option. My favorite part of the library is the obscene amount of comfortable chairs & couches in addition to plugs next to them to charge your electronics strewn in every nook & cranny.

And guys, if your date is in the loo without her purse, please don’t get up and leave the table! She’s assuming you got this and you’re watching her stuff
I think it's sad. It's like saying "You shouldn't be trustful. I didn't take it but I could have !" Yeah, but I left it and it's still there, so I was RIGHT to be trustful ! I'm not one to assume the worst in people if I can assume the best first...
When I was in college, people in the school libraries would usually ask nearby students to watch their things if we needed to take a phone call, use the bathroom, etc.
I wish we could just be more like other countries and see something that's not ours and leave it there because it's not ours.

My Library Has A Spot For People To Listen To Records
When I was growing up, I lived in a house where secular music of any type was a big no-no for a long time. It was friends' homes and at the library where I could get my fill of the pop music of the day. At the library, I could also hear country, opera, folk, jazz, and music from other countries from the librarians' suggestions. Gospel music (especially the black gospel music I grew up hearing) is terrific, but man, it was so great to be able to go to the library's listening stations and hear other things. And when I was a little older, the "college" record shops had listening stations that I took advantage of during lunch breaks at school.
When I was a kid, the Edmonton Public Library had a system like this. You could request a record from a librarian and they would put it on a turntable for you. You went to a hypermodern egg chair with headphones and you could listen to the whole thing without interruptions. It was awesome.
Do your library need readers to add more content, am free like always
We used to have a record (and tape) department at our library, where you could also listen to them.
Gosh, remember these at The Wall stores? I loved being able to listen to all the music before buying the CD!

Basement Floor Of My Campus Library Has A Treadmill With A Computer, So You Can Exercise & Study At The Same Time
Thats a really cool idea but the treadmill itself needs power to move, but I guess they could do bikes?
Load More Replies...I have that bike! You have to disembark the equipment carefully though. Sad laptop had to be replaced.
Super weird, I just made a joke yesterday that I need a treadmill at work to get my FitBit steps in, while I type. I had no idea it was a real thing. Then see this a day later.
Maybe they need to spend less on equipment so they would have more money for heat.
The Tech School Library I Went To Has Sleeping Pods
In Australia when extreme heat is coming we are advised - if you don't have air conditioning - to go to libraries for a cool down. So this would be brilliant.
Last summer here in Finland was really hot so some grocery stores allowed people to sleep there near the fridges and freezers. :)

Awww. That’s sweet! I wonder how many friendships were built because of that.

Library Has "Recently Returned" Section So You Can See What Other People Have Been Reading
Isn't this a feature in most libraries? There's one in every library I've been to, but maybe it's just a thing specific to my country
My library has a "new releases/popular " section near the front section.
Our local i Library in Dublin has a returns bin too. The books are stored sideways for reading the spines eadily..
Had A Volunteer Help Me Make These Stools Out Of Our Discarded Books For New Library Seating
My school library just puts the discarded ones on a cart with a sign that says 'Free Books'.
what do you do if you want to read the book?????????????????????
HOW DID YOU SECURE THE BOOKS TOGETHER. DO YOU HAVE PLANS THAT YOU COULD SHARE?
I don't believe in discarding books unless they are badly damaged.
This Library Likes To Play Games
This library is sadly pointing out the conditions they have. This might be a cry for help.
I think the real reason those books are there is to support the ceiling tiles from falling.
I thought this was a book store/thrift shop last time this pic went thru?
climb the shelves short people can do that can they not?
I cannot even see the titles. Sadly, a world I will never know. Unless we somehow get hover boards that fly as were promised when I was a child. Still mad about that.
tee hee - reminds me of a graffiti I did when I was a teenager, about six inches from the floor, I wrote "will I ever grow up?"
My Local Library Has A Mini Art Vending Machine
The machine is a re-purposed cigarette machine. People make small works of art that can fit in a cigarette pack sized box. It could be earrings, a small portrait, a tiny sculpture....anything! The guy who invented the Art-O-Mat went to my High School...

Nope, not only in Arkansas. I live in Maryland and you can check out (not rent, unless you keep it over due) fishing rods, you can feed the local fish in the aquarium and many other delightful things. And the branch near me is tiny compared to others in our system.
