Countries might be loosening lockdown restrictions, but the coronavirus hasn’t gone away. There are a total of 10.3 million confirmed cases of infected worldwide and 2.59 million of these are in the United States alone, according to Johns Hopkins University. Brazil stands in second place with over 1.37 million cases while Russia has 640k confirmed infections. Meanwhile, India has nearly 567k cases, and the United Kingdom has 313k.
A lot of people are asking the question: why is America number 1 in the world when it comes to Covid-19 infections? It’s a complicated issue with no easy answers. However, some people on the internet are posting anecdotal evidence about how "bad" some Americans are with following coronavirus guidelines. Just watched a 24 part lecture series from 2016 about the Bubonic Plague. Very informative. The initial plague that killed nearly half the population of Europe in the 1300s lasted about 5 years... then it came back about every 10 to 20 years for about 300 years. Didn't kill as nearly many in subsequent events but killed enough that it took those 3 centuries for the population to return to pre-plague levels. Still shows up today. There were outbreaks in India and Madagascar during the last 20 years, and about a handful of cases show up in the American southwest every year. Treatable if caught early, but symptoms are similar to flu and most doctors aren't familiar with it.

In the US, more than 126k people have died with or because of the coronavirus. In some states, infection cases are soaring again, and plans to ease lockdown measures have been put on hold in some areas.
For example, even though the Fourth of July celebrations are approaching, Texas and some parts of California have ordered bars to close again.
On Saturday, June 27, the US recorded over 43k new coronavirus cases. Florida alone recorded 9,585 new cases in 24 hours on Saturday, which was a new daily record for the state. Georgia, Nevada, and South Carolina also reported new daily infection records.

That is very true. Though in the US, the Vietnam War is widely considered to have been a mistake and a waste of resources, partially due to the loss of life with no actual results to show for it (at least in terms of long-term benefit to the US). Similarly, all the people who have died of COVID-19 haven't inspired those who remain to take adequate precautions.

I agree that the medical staff needs better gear and equipment to fight this pandemic and I know that I might get trashed here but I think addressing police as killers is wrong, not every cop is a killer, most of them try to keep us safe.

If most of them were good cops, the bad cops would have been thrown out of the force years ago. All reports indicate that bad cops run the show and good cops leave the force out of frustration . How else would you explain the decades of policy brutality and bullying of civilians. Search YT for police brutality. There are numerous video's of cops overstepping their powers, harassing people and acting like total jerks. It's because they know that their superiors will make any complaint disappear.

It's not about the amount of equipment, it's about how that equipment is put to use. I recall a story from 2015 about 4 Swedish cops visiting New York calmly and professionally breaking up a fight between two people on the subway. I imagine if they were american cops, both people would have been tasered without a thought.

There's considerably less training required to be a cop than a barber. We fund policing exorbitantly but still don't have affordable healthcare. Clearly, there are giant problems in our systems. There's a campground that I saw in the news when they reopened a month or so ago that said if anyone came into any of the businesses on site with a mask on they'd treat it as an armed robbery. That the only reason you'd be wearing a mask was to rob them and they'd treat you as such. I initially thought that meant calling the cops, until multiple people pointed out with the rural nature of the campground it could very easily be taken as a threat that they were going to shoot you... so... yeah. People are being crazy right now and I honestly hope it has long term consequences for their businesses.

Okay, so I live in Spain and we have to wear masks in public transport and in closed spaces like the supermarket. We don't have to wear masks if we're outside, as long as we keep our distance from other people. The vast, and I mean VAST, majority of people comply and I haven't heard any radical outcry or anything in the news. Today I went to the supermarket and they won't let you in unless you wear a mask, clean your hands with alcohol at the door, and put on gloves they provide. Not one complaint from anyone. I can't understand why it's so hard for these covidiots to get it.

People who believe this sort of stuff, and that vaccines implant a tracking device need to wake up and realize that the government doesn't need to inject you with a tracking device, you paid for one yourself and make a point to carry it around with you. Likewise, application of AI to internet advertising basically is a form of mind control, their entire goal is to take advantage of your interests and curiosity to get you to buy what they want to sell. Sigh. People. If you don't wish to be tracked toss your phone, and drive a car made before 1996 (depending on make/model) and only shop with cash. Anything else means you're jacked-in to the matrix.

On my last appointement, my doctor told me she signed a letter with hundreds of other colleagues to make wearing masks mandatory in all public places. Now it's only mandatory on public transport and in schools, for the rest it's advised to wear one. She's an expert in traditional, herbal and Eastern medicine. She knows how severely ill one can get from being on the frontline for months and thinks that there would be a lot less sick in this country if everyone took the effort of wearing the mask, gloves when necessary and of course sanitising frequently. You would think it's common sense, but that MAGA rubbish is rubbing off to some idiots here and they don't wear protection because it takes "freedom" away from them and attend illegal parties. Then, they need to be treated by the same doctors risking their lives. Every time I enter a gas station or a store, I'm surprised to see only a few people wearing masks. I'd be utterly ashamed to risk someone's health because of selfishness.

Sadly, many politicians are on their side with this. Recently, Germany passed a law that makes assault on a police officer a different and more severe crime than attacking any other person. I have come to the conclusion that there are only two types of people in the world. The "I"s and the "we"s. The "I"s don't want to wear masks, don't want to isolate, don't want to protect others, don't care about the rights and lives of others, whether it's BLM, or LGBTQ. They are in it for themselves. And then when something bad happens to them, they want all the resources for themselves and expect to be prioritized. Then the "we"s care about everybody as much as they do about themselves. It also seems to me that the "I"s are frequently right wingers and the "we"s are often left wingers. There's my observation for the day.

Speaking as an American, not all of us behave this way. Some of us are complying with the safety protocols and doing our best to stop the spread of COVID19. What makes me mad about all of these who refuse to take it seriously is that my father, who is a kidney transplant patient, has been confined to his home for the past two months because of COVID19 and these people are running around complaining because they have to wear a mask. These people are the reason that people like my dad could get sick.

My friend died a month ago from Covid-19. Her son who is now 12 was adopted by her but prior to that he had been adopted by my best friend who died when he was 5 after being abandoned by his birth mother. I am sad that my friend died but it has been very hard knowing this little boy has known so much death in such a short life. Even if we dont think this effects us directly it is very selfish to not do you best to keep yourself and others around you protected. The idea that this is being done to destroy peoples lively hoods and small business is really stupid to me. If you dont want to wear a mask fine, keep your but at home. The cases in my area have sky rocketed since every started opening back up and I am sure part is due to back logged testing but I dont think that most of it is. I would love to get back to normal but I am not willing to risk my life, the life of my family or any strangers because I need a damn haircut or something so menial.

Less than 25% of the people in my local Walmart were wearing masks the last time I was there. It makes shopping extremely stressful, especially when they ignore social distancing and get in my bubble. Covid isn't super prevalent in my county, but it IS here. And even if it wasn't, it could show up at any time. It blows my mind that people are so flippant about this. The fact that something I can't even see could potentially kill me or my children terrifies the hell out of me. I don't care how slim the chances are, I'm wearing a mask, keeping my distance and taking every other precaution I can think of. If we had ALL done this from the start, this s**t would be over and done with and we really could go back to life as normal. Instead I get to make the difficult decision of whether or not to send my child to what will qualify as public school in a few months. And it's all because of idiots like these. I'd slap them, but that would mean getting close to them.
