World's Smallest Computer Compared To A Grain Of Rice
This computer measures 0.33mm on each side! According to my pal Google: "Currently, the tiny computer serves as a precision temperature sensor. It uses electronic pulses to convert temperatures into timed intervals. The result, for example, is the ability to report temperatures in a cluster of cells within a tumor with an error rate of around 0.1 degrees Celsius. 'Since the temperature sensor is small and biocompatible, we can implant it into a mouse and cancer cells grow around it,' said Gary Luker, a professor of radiology and biomedical engineering. 'We are using this temperature sensor to investigate variations in temperature within a tumor versus normal tissue and if we can use changes in temperature to determine success or failure of therapy.' https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/worlds-smallest-computer-dwarfed-by-rice-grain/

alright children calm down and quit getting mad at people building so close to the sea, it's like getting mad at someone who built their house close to a forest and a tree fell on top of it. 1) it's common for beach houses to actually exist on the beach 2) the houses themselves are perfectly fine, they were designed to withstand hurricanes and just natural oceanic disasters as such, hence why they are built on beams above ground. 3) the only thing that got hurt was the dunes, which can be fixed by drenching. i know it's terrible, but most companies that DO drench for the sake of saving a beach, know not to dig up an thriving aquatic ecosystem on the ocean floor, and to pick a spot where it's just sand, dig it up, carry it to shore, and make new dunes. it's perfectly fine, really the only way us humans are involved are roofing damage, and probably flooding like in New Bern.
I live in Wilmington too, small world, though I would never buy a house on the beach because of the hurricanes. Not mad at people who do, just know better than to do it myself. That and the prices are so enormous I'd rather buy a private island. ;)
Load More Replies...I need the name of the contractor that built those houses. He/She builds a sturdy house!!!
Not an expert, but isn’t that just sand over the road and possibly over the right houses patios a bit too ? The house on the right doesn’t look to have structural damages, the pole and the cables seems fine, might be they’ve already been restored, what appears to be a road sign pole om the left is diverted but looks the worst damage here. Looks an area damages weren’t that bad, as probably in many other affected locations.
I wonder why the roofs are different colors, the windows of the yellow house are different, & there’s a new “no parking” sign in the after picture. A little photoshop action??
I am surprised the houses are still standing why build that close to the sea when you are on the hurricane track.
I’ll bet those people that bought a house 2 miles from the ocean pre-Florence never expected to have ocean front property. That is just insane.
I hope no one was home.... stop building on seashores, you don't belong there!
Props to those 2 mad buggers who decided to stay! ( Seriously though, I'm thinking they put a few million into these and literally couldn't move due to finances. Beach front property is EXPENSIVE. If they used their retirement money on that, there's little chance of getting it back.)

Whenever Somebody Posts A Photo Of The Milky Way, People Invariably Ask "Is That How You See It With The Naked Eye?". Here's A Representation Of What You Do See Compared To What Comes Out Of The Camera
This photo was taken at the Pinnacles Desert in Western Australia, the moon had just set below the horizon and the core of the Milky Way was rising towards the east and was at about 40 degrees. This obviously isn't a perfect representation but it's pretty close. You won't see any color as our eyes can't determine color very well in low light.
The photo you see on the left is directly out of the camera, no post processing has been done at all and you can see quite a bit of green towards the horizon and some orange and magenta hues in the core. My camera's white balance was set to auto and this is a 30 second exposure. ISO was set at 3200 and aperture was f2.8.
edit Ok it seems some people are able to distinguish color in the Milky Way and some aren't. Though it's more common to not see any color. I did quite a bit of research and almost every time this question was posed, people had varying views on what they could and couldn't see. No color - some color - lots of color. So I came to the conclusion that there are just too many variables to accurately depict what you can see, you can only approximate what the average person can see. Yes, some will see it more vividly, some will see it less vividly but the average person will see it similarly to what I showed in my photo. Oh and of course the location plays a large factor.........not everybody is able to sail 100 miles off shore to get the absolute best view possible so it's a bit pointless to use that as the standard bearer :) One other factor you should bear in mind is the technology we choose to portray these images on. Computer monitors. Again there are way too many variables at play here, especially when it comes to contrast and brightness. What I see on my computer monitor is most likely to be different to what another person sees.
