Best part was looking at the art work, reading the lyrics, and seeing what brand name instruments and gear they used.

And sometimes it was a duff album. You didnt know what was on it until after you bought it.

I got so tired of buying CD's and tapes when there was only one good song on the entire thing.

HA! We had the different scheme in Russia - somebody bought an album and others just made a copies of that :)The same thing with books. Someone buys and other just read after.

Back in my time, we could buy 45s! Then around 1987 we could get a cd single with the song we wanted. And we could listen to snippets of the full cd right in the store!

Literally did all of this when Tool's new album came out last year :-) Except, OK, I did pre-order it on line. But all the rest was so delightfully nostalgic.
