If you think about your favorite characters from literature and film, one thing they most likely have in common is a compelling arc, which is basically a distilled summary of the journey they went through over the course of the story and the inner change it inspired.
But this phenomenon isn't exclusive to fictional realms. And the subreddit 'Character Arcs' has plenty of examples to prove it. "In stories, the people we see, called characters, often change as the story progresses. This change in character is known as a character arc," he told Bored Panda, highlighting that the most common types are the positive (or ascending) arc, the negative (or descending) arc, and the flat arc.
It doesn't matter if the characters move from flawed to fabulous or the other way around, the important part is that they should face significant obstacles—both internal and external—that fundamentally change them.

I'm torn on this one. I agree that if someone's life can be turned around, they deserve that. But I also believe that any adult who has wanted to die for a significant period of time has the right to do so. The problem is that most governments set up laws that punish the suicidal, and if they can't be helped, they just keep being punished. I've known quite a few who were able to be helped, and also some who could not be. But I would never report any of them because if they turn out to be the latter type, I'd be responsible for the government forcing them to continue existing, and that's a bigger crime than not saving then if they could have been saved...

That's awesome. I tried committing suicide twice in my life. Every time I thought "NO, WAIT!" at the last second and was saved. These were true blue, not just cries for help at different times. The second one I cried and said "I can't even kill myself right " and quickly realized I wasn't supposed to. I have never approached that again. I hope the poster is ok because my life amazingly improved after that. All I had to do was wait just a little while longer. Everything - I mean almost everything corrected. My attitude changed eventually and I am a totally different person. I'm glad this person is still alive. That's fkn awesome 👍

"The negative/descending arc is the opposite of the positive one," Piree added. "In this type of character arc, the person starts okay but then makes terrible choices or experiences bad events and ends up in a worse place."
The filmmaker said that the Joker belongs to this category. "The main character starts as a troubled man struggling with mental health and societal rejection. As he faces continuous neglect and abuse, he spirals down into becoming the Joker, a notorious criminal."

My dumbass was super early to the airport and almost missed my flight. I was out drinking with friends, who live right off of as rail station that's on the way to the airport. So we had the bright idea to had to the airport early to hangout and drink before my flight since it was super easy for them to get home afterwards. I wasn't late to the gate, but wasn't going to get their early, When I got there they had already boarded everyone, had been calling me over the intercom (I didnt know they did that but I didnt hear it anyways because we were outside of the security check, since my friends obviously didn't have tickets and wouldn't have been able to get through anyways), and were just in the process of closing the gate. They kind of deservingly yelled at me that I was late and they had been calling of me. I was obviously the last person to board, on a completely full flight, so everyone was staring at me as I got to the only open seat: back row in the middle LMAO.

My friend made us miss a connecting flight because they told her the departure time instead of the boarding time for us to be back at the gate, we went to grab a bite and watch a game at a bar that was apparently too far away to hear them calling for us, although I kept encouraging her to finish up and head to the gate earlier. The flight had just departed when we got to gate. Fortunately there were 2 seats on the next flight a few hours later.

Depends on the airport and timing. Sometimes in a small airport things move quickly, and all airports have slower and busier times. The one things that's almost 100% certain is that if you get to the gate a minute after they closed the door you're not getting on the plane.

I pay $1,200 a month for my family insurance and the employer matches that. I still have a $30 copay every time I walk into the doctor's office, which feels like all the time since I have kids. There's a copay on prescriptions, copay for procedures, and I'm only covered at 80%, regardless of having some of the "best" insurance available. This is why Americans can't afford to get sick. Think about what 20% of a huge bill would be, and how much all the extra copays and incidentals cost. It feels like the health industry is nickling and dining us to death, only I wish it were only nickels and dimes because that would be a little easier to stomach. I've actually avoided going to the doctor because I can't afford to, even though I'm insured.

I remember going in for a physical when I wasn’t insured. Private pay discount made the visit cost about $135. The next year I was insured, but hadn’t met my deductible. So the same visit cost me $328 because I didn’t get a discount. I paid my insurance so I could pay my doctor more.

I had to fight with both the insurance company and hospital for proper payment after I'd broken ribs. The hospital listed it as a workplace injury when it wasn't and insurance wouldn't pay because of the improper medical coding. Months later it was resolved, but I had to do the work to straighten it out. A lot of medical insurance plans require a deductible be met and then they'll cover up to a certain percentage. They've had years of experience learning what they won't cover after the fact.

Piree, who now focuses on helping aspiring filmmakers sell their creative ideas and has released an ebook titled 'Win The Pitch,' thinks every great, compelling character arc needs a few ingredients to make it attractive to follow along, which include:
Beginning - Who Is The Character? "This is where a character is in their normal life," he said. "Think of it like an everyday routine before the character goes on an adventure."
Goal - What Does The Character Want? Piree highlighted that every character needs something they want or need to do. "This could be a dream they have, a problem they must solve, or something they want to find."
Trigger - What Big Event Starts The Character Journey? "This is when something important happens that starts the character's adventure. It could be something like finding a mysterious map, meeting a new person who changes everything, or a big problem that suddenly comes up," the filmmaker continued.

Yup, I had this same epiphany - wash your rice. Edit: I generalized when I should've specified. The Nishiki brand of medium-grain rice I use for my pseudo-Japanese donburi, I learned that washing it makes the rice...yummier. Still sticky - enough to be held with chopsticks - but not sushi-sticky. The basmati I use for everyday things I don't wash, at least I haven't yet as it doesn't seem to be necessary. 👍

Depends on recipe and type of rice. Some rice eating cultures wash it. —especially Himalayan, lowers the arsenic(!) content — others don’t. Don’t just wash rice “because”; do what works for you.

I wash the (Basmati) rice twice, use the pan with the biggest surface, put in twice as much water as rice, add some salt, bring it to the boiling point, switch off flame, cover the pan with kitchen tissue and the lid. Then just wait till all the water is gone and enjoy the best rice ever.

Stakes - Why Does It Matter? "Stakes are about why this goal is super important to the character," Piree explained. "What will happen if the character doesn't reach their goal? What consequences will they face? The higher the stakes are, the more exciting the story will be."
Conflict - What Challenges And Problems Prevent The Character From Reaching Their Goal? This is what makes things tough for the character. "They might have to face scary things, make hard choices, or deal with problems that get in their way of achieving their goals," Piree said. "They have to change their old habits introduced in the beginning and start to change. They learn new things, make mistakes, and slowly become a different person."
Time Pressure - Why Does It Need To Happen Fast? According to the filmmaker, adding a ticking clock to the story makes the character even more interesting to follow. "The character may have to do something before a specific time, or something terrible will happen."
End - How Have Things Changed? "In the end, the character has changed throughout their journey. They have reached their goal and have learned something essential or changed in a big way."

It depends on the cabin configuration. I used to work as a designer for a company that makes airplanes. Azul and very few other airlines explicitly state they want every seat to pair with a window even in economy. Others do it only for first/business class. The window pitch is very comfortable for passengers, but doesn’t allow the airlines to maximize profits (i.e. cram people into a flying sardine can).

Why you always check seat plans online when booking a seat in advance. Not only to check you have a window (if you obviously want one) but to check you aren't stuck by a toilet or other place where people are going to lining up/ passing by etc. Takes seconds to find the seat plan for your plane and they even have comments saying if they're good or bad and why, inc the entertainment system, usb sockets etc too.

She protested a woman's shelter after the supposedly trans leader of the shelter who presents male accused rape victims of being transphobe after feeling traumatised by male presenting individuals and she protested a legislative that would have allowed any man, without any limitations access to women's spaces, including documented rapists and child molesters by demanding that any person who simply claims to be a woman has to be treated as such without any probation period or background checks. That's what she did. She never opposed trans people or pretended they don't exist. She merely demands that the protective measures that discriminate between male perpetrators and true transexuals stay in place. People calling her TERF support a motion that wants to erase all waiting periods, any limitations or preventive measures that stand between known criminals and women's places no matter how much harm that would cause. Apparently, not agreeing that anyone who claims to be a woman is a woman in every respect is just as bad as genocide. If you look up gender in the dictionary it is defined as a social construct. A pen is does not make you a man and a vagina doesn't make you a women. I'm so sick of society's need to label people. People constantly assign me a gender and I'm sick of it. I had two people argue about about my gender identity in front of me! Without bothering to ask my opinion.

"Man" is a gender role ascribed by society, with specific social expectations. You are mixing up gender with sex, which is a series of physical characteristics. Probably because of how modern Western societies have a tendency to assume that anyone in a particular gender is also a particular sex.

"If you add too many changes for too many characters, you need too much time to explain why the characters have changed and the story will become too complicated for the audience to follow," he explained.

With that being said, wouldn't it be interesting to imagine a fictional universe where all of the characters you see in the pictures coexist?

Clarification: I don't eat either kind but some of those stickers are paper and some of them are plastic. It may or may not be some kind of bio friendly plastic but whatever they are does not break down easily. I compost my food waste out in my woods. Over time - dumping lots of food in the same spot - all of the food is composted or eaten by animals but some of those plastic stickers remain. I have no desire to eat stuff like that.

I live in Ontario where the limit is 10mg per package of gummies (so, either one at 10mg or 2 5mg ones). I buy mine online from the other coast, B.C., and have found my happy place with 50mg gummies (One Stop from WCC's shop, they're awesome!). Now I know what I can handle and dose accordingly. Me too! Everyone had 1 gummy and once everyone but me was obviously enjoying themselves so I took another and still nothing. Same thing happened with lysergic acid; everyone but me and the designated grown-up/ adult babysitter was trippin out and I didnt even get a body high. Im on a lot of medication and I have concluded that some combination of my meds prevents me from experiencing edibles like other folks do. Maybe, Em, we're on similar prescriptions, (not that I'm gonna list them here, publicly.) 💊

Time for edibles can vary a lot from person to person. A friend takes them to sleep and has to take them a few minutes before going to bed because they kick in quite quickly for her. For me - it is usually 2 hours. After about 15 minutes I could tell you if you gave me real / placebo but the effect is just the tiniest 'hint'. The real effect does not hit me for about two hours.

Took a 10 mg chocolate once (had a pounding headache). Headache was gone and i was as loopy as when i take benadryl xD was playing cards with mom at the time n could barely focus xD ended up taking a 2 hr couch nap

Whatisthisbug .com is a cool website. I used it to find out that the bugs that showed up one spring were an invasive species of stink bugs.🤮 And, at that time, the only other person that had inquired about that specific bug lived in the same small town (under 30,000) as me. The whole world wide web and yet the only other person asking was within 5 miles of my place. Small world, eh? (It was called 'marmerated stink bug').

That is what I have an issue with. Make your own sports team, make your own olympics category, make your own bathroom, CIS-WOMEN should NOT have to give up our rights as WOMEN.

What rights are you worried about giving up? Being able to go to the bathroom without worrying that a trans person might be in the bathroom too? Like you, a trans person goes into a public bathrrom so they can empty their bladder. It's a mundane bodily function and they just wanna be able to go without being harassed. I also have seen the comment about 'erasing cis-women' and I dont get it at all. Like, I dont even know what people are referring to when they say that. Btw, trans people have been accepted in the Olympics for something like, 12 or 16 years. (I dont remembers the exact year). But so its not a new thing. Being pointed out as trans publicly is new. Rowling's comments were a virtue signaling opinion and I certainly dont remember her comments comparing cis and trans. And your 'make your own sports teams/ Olympics/ bathrooms' comment is a great example of seperate but equal. And we know how well that worked out last time! (Not at all).
