Cats are known to be renowned napping champions with an average of 16 hours per day spent dozing off during this cringy film called life. After so much practice in the sleep department, they really know what it takes to get a good catnap. The answer is not much.
Our furry friends have been spotted sleeping nearly anywhere. The locations speak for themselves—tissue boxes, wine glasses, winter shoes, terrariums, flower pots, and laundry racks. Sometimes, it’s the sleeping positions that catch the eye—on the head, upside down, all stretched and curved, or using a dog as a pillow. I'll just leave it here.
After you’re done upvoting your favorite of these weird sleeping cats, don’t forget to scroll through Bored Panda’s previous compilations of feline sleep master classes here and here. Have one silly cat that's fast asleep right next to you? Share in the comments!

Yeah but give credit where's due and kindly give the cat the dignity it deserves.
Load More Replies...With all the cats below him it made me think of one of those food markets and he's trying to make a break for it..... Disgusting to think about I know but right now I couldn't help it.
That's rather negative but understandable given that mantype is, indeed, the cruelest creature on the face of this earth.
Load More Replies...Trust me - with cats, you learn to check everything before you sit down
Load More Replies...That's why you always check for lumps and hidy-holes when you have cats!
Guess they had been searching this kitty for hours before they found her peacefully sleeping
Not sure if the cat nip worked, but maybe it's a cat nip hangover.
Load More Replies...In an interview with Bored Panda, Molly DeVoss, a certified feline training and behavior specialist, told us that our domestic cats sleep on average from 16 to 20 hours a day, and that’s all part of an ambush strategy. “This strategy consists of stalk, chase, pounce, catch and kill. Cats will eat about 10 small meals throughout a day, which equates to around six cumulative hours of daily hunting; they are sleeping to refuel their energy for the hunt.” However, indoor-only cats may be napping out of boredom.
Kitty light weight. One beer and she's done - just like my freshman girlfriend?! ;-)
Load More Replies...Same in Germany. :) Unfortunately it's never as sweet as a cat.
Load More Replies...So much that could be said about this, lets just enjoy the moment !
Some adorable cats feign sleep as a defense mechanism to cope with stressful situations. Other times, nodding off during the day may be a sign of aging. DeVoss suggests keeping an eye on your fuzzy companion and being aware of the signs of lethargy that would signal it’s time for a visit to the veterinarian.
Yep. But FYI, 99% of the time, calico cats are girls.
Load More Replies...I like how the black cat on the outside of it is keeping watch while his buddy is napping
To us humans, who’d rather sleep in a warm and comfy bed, some places and positions in which these weird cats are found taking a nap look rather absurd. Cat behavior expert Rita Reimers told Bored Panda that it really is true—cats can sleep virtually anywhere. Among other places, they adore “sunspots, your bed, or tucking away in little quiet corners and cubbyholes.” They also prefer warm places like a warm basket of laundry fresh from the dryer.
no, kid, you're supposed to keep running after you escape the cage!
This one could prove that the ability to sleep anywhere is in the genes. I don't think that baby cats learn the ability from their mothers. I think this little guy is probably about 8-12 weeks old. His mother may have had time to teach him the art by demonstration, but I think that is unlikely.
I guess we could fall asleep on a picket fence if we were tired enough, but a wire cage?
The sign says: "Pet Basket with animal print". Well, they didn't lie...
Well, shows the product works... not sure if I want to wake the kitty to buy one. ;-)
Load More Replies...I would buy it, but I don't want to disturb the sleeping beauty!
Load More Replies...Sure he'll sleep on it in the store but once you get it home he'll sleep all around it but never in it
Too. Much. Cuteness! *heart attack* I am dead. Not big surprise. *Blue screen of death*.
Load More Replies...Your cat didn't melt. Felines are constantly in limbo between solid and liquid. Do not be alarmed.

I always wanted a pure white cat. I've had so many wonderful black cats... maybe the next one will be a different color? Maybe I won't trip over it in the dark as easily?
Perfect way, he hears a heartbeat, nice and toasty.. He is extremely tiny, I hope his mom is near.
Load More Replies...That is adorable. Look how small this baby is. No more than a few weeks is my guess. No wonder she is keeping him warm, when they're both sleeping. my hand would be holding him even in sleep, I have no doubt!!I had one that small. I don't think this little one has his eyes open yet. Mine imprinted on me!! Just like a puppy later on..

Somehow I think Buddha would approve—-he probably spent a lot of time praying and meditating with a cat sleeping in his lap just like this when he was alive.
How in the hell is that remotely comfortable?! I would have loved to see the lead up to that particular position. ❤️
Mine sleeps like this too! Can they actually breathe! Always got me worried.
Head pressing can be a sign of a serious health condition, are they doing it when awake?
Load More Replies...Don't look at me!!! Reminds me of a 2 year old "hiding" by closing their eyes
Please contact veterinary. Pose like that may be a sign for neurological problems
Really important! Its face pressing and call a vet ASAP
Load More Replies...Welcome to this national landmark! The smush-face! Moving along, folks...
Imagine just selling cat foods like this and stray cats flocks at your store thinking it was a buffet for them.
"Draw me like one of your French cats". Really sorry, but it was too compelling.
You are spending more time playing your guitar than you cat! Shame on you!
Load More Replies...Guitar Kitty! I bet he sound really good. Better than my cat at least.
If you stroke me the wrong way to wake me up, I'll treat you to a hardcore riff!
I can see an appartement in Rome or maybe in Paris, where a musician just has left bis bed, and even before getting a first coffee, playing some chords, the first cigarette between his lips.
I upvoted this because clearly, in total cat fashion, he has knocked over all the books to make his bed.
How rude..Who put these books on MY shelf? When I wake, they are GONE!!!
“ Stop! Who would cross the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three, 'ere the other side he see.”
He slid down the stair handle like Mary Poppins, but the wrong way.
You’d have to have suction cups for toes to pull this one off successfully.
Think this photo was taken just before the cat belly flopped onto the carpet!!
That is so sweet. He found the most comfortable material, in the whole house.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yellow Player 1 - Blue Team has an awesome goalie. Yellow Player 2 - (To Goalie) Bob, you need to gain some more weight!
The other team brought in a ringer, coach! We're gonna loose for sure!
People ask me stuff about my pets, how can I stand them on the furniture or something silly like that, and I tell them it wouldn’t matter, once they start shedding, it’s literally EVERYWHERE!! It starts flying around and I know that I end up eating it, so why would I care if they get on the couch??
Load More Replies...You had to lay right there...all the other places in the house and you had to lay there?? Geeez..
Warning: the following stunt youll see is extremly dangerous and perfomed by proffesionals..
Cats belong in bookstores and libraries! They're quiet, usually, and don't take up a lot of room.
He's there as moral support if your balance isn't so good
Until he tells you he gets 10% of everything you withdraw.
Load More Replies...Yep. I even child-proofed my drawer. They still get in.
Load More Replies...We didn't notice our cat was in the drawer so we shut him in and he started meowing and we found him in drawer and we felt really bad so we started giving him love and treats
I have the same dresser! Mine try that too so need to make sure drawers are firmly shut...
Looks just like my gray cat Bazzy when he was younger—-he’ll be 18 on May 18th (we’ve had him since he was 9 weeks old).
“Honey, the sink is clogged again, think we should call a plumber?”
She's probably just exhausted from watching all the activity outside the window.
I thought this poem would be appropriate Anywhere Cats Sleep Anywhere Submitted By: mmcvaney Cats Sleep Anywhere Cats sleep anywhere, any table, any chair. Top of piano, window-ledge, in the middle, on the edge. Open drawer, empty shoe, anybody's lap will do. Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks. Anywhere! They don't care! Cats sleep anywhere. Eleanor Farjeon (1881 - 1965)
So much fluff & cuteness! My kitty can't sleep anywhere but she has some interesting sleeping poses. =D InShot_202...d35b1e.jpg
I have to stop reading to go find my cat so I can cuddle her for a bit. Every time NO has cat stories..
Load More Replies...This is so cute I always knew cats could sleep anywhere I have one and it sleeps halfway off in little play area and she just sleeps but what a great article.
I remember our cat was once found sleeping on a bucket full of rubble (we have previously taken down a small wall in the house). And it didn't look comfortable, there were a lot of shardy pointy pieces. Yet she looked like she was sleeping on a cloud. I miss this little weirdo so much.
To me, it seems like being a liquid offers a lot of opportunities to sleep in places non-liquid animals can't consider enjoyable. Can't get 'roun'that - I love cats, I love their weirdity and oddness, their approach of how to not give a fug in a carefully celebrated way, and I love the sound of a purring cat - waking up to this sound, looking into the face of a satisfied and happy cat - makes life worth living!
Oh yes, that's the Turkish cat documentary, isn't it?
