When I worked at the Palm Desert let hospital in California I was taught that when a cat goes off to die it's because they want it to be hidden from predators a d because they want it to be very relaxing calm and quiet. And no they do not know that they're dying, they just want to alone to be at peace .

These were great. My roommate had to put his cat down just today. She was 22 years old. I think this will definitely lift his spirits.
I'm not sure. Chances are, it will be heartbreaking. He loved his cat and might not be ready to confront himself with such a load of cuteness and silliness while he's deprived of his own... Consider he's grieving really hard.
