Few things do we love here on Bored Panda more than comics and cats. The first never fails to put a smile on our faces and the latter… by ruling the internet, felines have won our hearts and that’s all there is. So if you fall into one of the categories, or better both, Scott Metzger’s cartoons are a real treat for you!
The Northern California cartoonist has been cartooning since 1996, which makes him a cat comics veteran with an incredible 26 years of practice! With so much experience in drawing the everyday adventures of our beloved felines and their humans, Metzger has nailed the portrayal of their ridiculous and very human-like behavior. The artist’s endearing sense of humor, lighthearted style and positivity make his work a much-needed antidote to today’s world where we just feel lost now and then.

Our place is decorated with a number of boxes. There's a bitey/flipsy box out cat loves to be silly in. Then there's the box she loves to bite pieces off to spit on the floor. There's her hidey box who's use if obvious, and lastly she has a box that she uses instead of a scratching post. She loves to claw the bottom of the box and easy to put more cardboard down as needed.

“Over the years, my drawing style has changed quite a bit. In the early days, when I was learning Adobe Illustrator, the drawings were a bit rough,” Scott Metzger, the creator of these wonderful cat comics, told Bored Panda in an interview.
“Also, the kinds of cartoons I draw now are different from ones I did years ago. I used to draw comics about various topics but now most of my comics feature cats and dogs because they’re more fun to draw,” he said and added that “these days, it’s pretty rare that I draw a comic with only humans in it.”

The game gets especially fun when you wake up in the morning all groggy, your eyes are just adjusting to the daylight, and you end up stepping in a soggy pile of cat vomit.

😄 So true. Plus, my one cat also gives me one good bite when I come home from a trip (he never bites otherwise). He does this when I get in bed. I have tried to hide under the sheets, but he always finds a way to show he didn't like that I left him.

It had been three years since we last spoke with Scott for the previous article, so we wanted to catch up with him. It turns out, the cartoonist now has two collections of cat cartoons: Being Awesome Is Exhausting and 50 Ways to Wake Your Human. “I also have greeting cards with NobleWorks and PicturaUSA. Since we last talked, I started a Patreon page, which has been a lot of fun,” he said and added that “I like interacting with patrons and giving them behind-the-scenes info – it’s a cool platform and I appreciate their generous support!”

When asked why cats in particular, the cartoonist said that he always liked cats. “My first pet was a black cat named Samantha. We got her when I was in kindergarten and she died when I was a senior in high school. After she died, we got a golden retriever, named Spice, who was a big lovebug. I like cats and dogs.”

Funny story where I live, in South Africa, in the Kruger national park there was this group of poachers that would jump into the park at night over the same part of the fence so that they can poach rhinos. Well a pack of lions learned about this and they waited for the poachers one night and when they jumped the fence the lions killed and ate them all

My cat HATES my husband. Before my husband, the spot next to me on the sectional, the bed.. wherever, was Brutus's side.. my husband and I have been married over 4 years and still resents my husband. Brutus now lays on my left side and my husband on the right. The heat they give off makes me want to kick them both out of the bed lol

“Right now I have two cats—Max (who will sit on any available lap) and Hannah (who gets visually annoyed when you pick her up). You can almost hear Hannah saying, ‘Damn it! Put me DOWN!’” As you may imagine, they both provide tons of inspiration for Scott’s jokes.
The cartoonist also said that cats are fun to draw and there’s plenty of material. “It’s great when someone says something like ‘that’s just like my cat!’ It’s nice to connect with a reader in that way.”

When asked what are Scott’s plans for the future, he said he’s currently working on a book of dog cartoons, which he plans to release in early summer. “It’s a project I’ve had to put on hold for various reasons so I’m excited to finish it.”
An easy way for people to support Scott (or any artist) is to tag/credit when they share comics (or if on Facebook, share directly from the artist's page). “For those who are able, joining my Patreon page is also a nice way to support my work. I really appreciate my readers and patrons,” the cartoonist said.

LOL I´ve been veggie since 1985 yet (was 14 back then), and whenever I open a can of sweet corn, kidney beans, mexican veggie mix including beans and peperoni too, Gizzy and Thori think I´m opening a can of TOONA fur them, and then they always turn around and leave disappointedly. But yesterday they were allowed to share a can of tuna without oil because on Friday´d been Thori´s 9th #GotchaDay, and I hadn´t had tuna "on stock", so then they´d only gotten a catstick each from dm drugstore then. Yesterday morning I returned some bitter lemon and ice tea bottles to the Rewe bottle automat to get some money back and bought them 2 cans of tuna.

... they always forget to fake symptoms so you have to have'em checked. If you've run out that route of torture, try fighting with neighbouring cats, who might, dunno, bite through a string of muscles or so, like a friend's cat recently, ... and, don't forget to change food preferences the moment your welltrained human got a special sale on your previous longterm favourite. You gotta hate that, now that it was cheap and we won't run outta, you know...

My cat occasionally jumps on my desk during video conferences and starts headbutting me, which is cute. Ofcourse, that means his a**e is straight to the camera, which is less cute for the other participants.
