People Are Mocking The Dystopian Capitalism We’re Living In, And Here Are 35 Of Their Spot-On Posts
Anyone has the ability to flourish if they work hard enough for it, right? Regardless of where they come from or what family they are born into, if people just pick themselves up by their bootstraps — the sky is the limit. Or at least that’s what they tell us. Because while capitalism has fuelled economic growth and increased our standard of living, people are hesitant to back a system that now seems to offer little other than uncertainty and crisis.
So it’s no surprise that so many are dissatisfied with how unjust the system we’re living in actually is. And two corners on the internet capture these feelings, the 'Capitalism In Decay' subreddit and the capitalism criticizing page on Facebook. People over there are holding up a mirror to society and showing off examples of how upside-down our world can seem, one image at a time.
We’ve gone through these two communities and handpicked a selection of accurate and insightful posts that might shake you up, make you laugh and cry at the same time, or at least give a few thought-provoking ideas to consider. So continue scrolling and share your thoughts with us in the comments! And if you’re interested in even more anti-capitalist content, be sure to check out our previous publication right here.

Won’t Someone Think About Those Poor Billionaires
And this is why we should tax the rich. All that money should go to people who actually need it. Not people who waste their money sending dildo-shaped rockets into space.
We used to tax the rich in the US and our economy boomed! That all changed when the trickle down theory was introduced - what a load of rubbish that is. Everyone knows it doesn't work, but the powers that be keep screaming about how taking money from the wealthy will somehow hurt the poor. SMH. So much b******t.
Load More Replies...Because Conservatives, backed by those billionaires, have successfully conned those that vote for them, into believing that...the rest of us, though not as loud and obnoxious, are quite keen to tax the wealthy, just like in the 1950's, when the highest tax bracket was 90%.
This is the system you get when you vote for your right to bear arms. You're really voting to be exploited.
This Country Really Hates Poor People
It is indeed beyond effed up - it's downright EVIL! What's worse is forcing people to give birth to babies they can't be reasonably expected to care for. Then you penalize them for being unable to care for their children, and dump the kids into the jungle of so-called foster care.
Load More Replies...They are threatening to take children away from their families, because they have no money, but they're willing to give them into foster care, where foster parents get monetary compensation for each child their foster. MAYBE, just MAYBE - give that money to the parents and let the kids stay with them if everything else is okay.
omg...I never thought of it that way! Thank you for that!

It's clear to me that America is now owned by corporations and other entities that only see human beings as things to extract money from, like chickens or cows.
Land of the free! Yeah... sure... whatever helps you sleep at night.
It's a country that really hates poor people and does its best to keep them poor too.

Also public healthcare doesn’t “destroy” the health insurance industry; it just creates competition for it…which is supposed to be a characteristic of a free market?
Exactly, the UK has private healthcare options alongside the NHS and people avail of it.
Load More Replies...That depends on who is inflicting and who is suffering according to the politicians getting their coffers filled from kick-backs and "campaign donations".
i'm frech we got publuc healthcare and its cool if i havent bgot that i would be probably dead
The fun part of if all of these posts is that we realize it’s happening, they understand we realize it’s happening, yet we all know there’s nothing we can do about it. Complacency has bred the revolution out of us. Just think how much we sacrifice for the idea of security. Yeah…fun
Funny as countries with all those things also still have a weapons, healthcare and energy industries. Thus proving the American LIE!!
We will replace them with a more sustainable industries... it's time to let our old ways go.
As Dr. Ron Roberts, a chartered psychologist, lecturer at Kingston University, and author of several books such as Mental Health in Crisis and Psychology and Capitalism: The Manipulation of Mind, pointed out, capitalism is about creating endless wants and needs.
"[It is about] creating the idea that there is something inherently deficient in us — and that when we cannot cope, it is because of individual weakness, defect or fragility, rather than the exploitative nature of the system," the psychologist told Bored Panda. "This is reflected in the mental health system which identifies any difficulties in coping as illness or disorder. No matter how inhuman the system, we are supposed to manage without problems."

Well actually racism, xenophobia and guns are all they need to exist. These ‘patriots’ don’t care about the country going to s**t as long as they have their guns and hatred.

Outsourcing to offshore is one of the biggest problems I think. Companies are sending millions every month to foreign country and most of that money will never return. Think about it. Take just technical support. Those companies are paying $2-4000 per technician every month. Some teams are small, some are big, but I personally know about a hundred of people that work as tech support for US. In many cases I know just a one or two people from the whole team, some of them are 5 people, but one was something like 70 people. Imagine that we have a thousand skilled tech guys. Each of them brings in $3000 every month. I know, 40 millions in a year is not much, but how much will go back? We pay 10 bucks for Netflix, another 20 bucks for other services or games and the rest stays here. And you get nothing of value back, no produce, no goods, nothing. And it is not much better when we talk about real produce, because a lot will just end in landfills.
Hey just a little bit more, I'll be the 1% and no longer have to swim in this muck with you lot. So they thought lol.
Capitalism teaches you that socialism takes your freedom. How convenient for the rich people!!! Capitalism lets you free to have ... nothing.
It’s Too Expensive, There’s Absolutely No Way It Can Work... /S
Sweetie, are you counting the US as a developed country? Because other than speaking English and having smartphones, it has all the characteristics of a third world one.
I’ve seen people in third world countries getting really offended by that because many third world countries do try to take care of their people.
Load More Replies...I don't mean to be a smartass, but how many of you know the definition of a third world country? Without looking it up.
After WWII, it's a country that wasn't part of either US/Euro influence (First World) or Soviet Influence (Second World).

The US could have UHC if Dems didn't need all their social projects and the GOP didn't need their military spending.
No, what is vigorously opposing UHC in the US are the health insurance industry (recall the strong ad campaign early in Bill Clinton's first term) but especially the pharmaceutical industry. The US pays far more than the rest of the world and gets the same drugs. The lawyers making money in the malpractice industry (defense and plaintiff) also have a strong lobby, but are still dwarfed by the first two.
Load More Replies...Don't worry, all countries will go USA's way, because it may be good for the stock market...
And the people of those countries that can afford private care pay for it; why is that? England's NHS is on the verge of collapsing and barely survives. Canadians who can afford it come to the U.S. for better and faster care.
How about because if you can afford better, faster healthcare why wouldn’t you? It’s your health for Pete’s sake. The NHS is struggling because it was designed in 1948 to cover the entire population regardless of income but in the face of significantly mis-projecting population growth and an aging citizenry there simply isn’t enough money coming in in the form of taxes anymore. Ref your comment about Canadians, I refer you back to my first point.

Orrrr we need a better economy AND drugs that don’t cause fatigue for those of us whose mental health issues were caused by things that won’t go away in a non-capitalist society.
Or anti-depressants that don’t have “Depression and Suicidal Thoughts” as a side-effect🤦. Tbh this economy probably will NEVER be fixed.

i can't afford a therapist either and my mental has been tanked the past 3 years.
Load More Replies...I get what you're saying and I agree, those factors make things worse, but clinical depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain that has to be treated with medication and I wish there would be better options available.

According to the Wikipedia Minimum wage in the United States page suicide section... Researchers found in 2019 that, "Between 1990 and 2015, raising the minimum wage by $1 in each state might have saved more than 27,000 lives, according to a report published this week in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health. An increase of $2 in each state's minimum wage could have prevented more than 57,000 suicides.
Exactly. Swallowing a pill does not put food in my fridge or pay the 820 dollars for my tiny bachelor apartment. Prices skyrocketed so bad.
Yeah but then that will cut into the profit margin of big pharma. We cannot have that now, can we? No, we can't.
America needs to get away from the cowboy culture of "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" and become a more compassionate nation. The rich and powerful will never give up their power unless we take it from them.
In theory, capitalism as a system may sound simple. It is rewarding effort, growth, and innovation, all while fueling the economic growth of human civilization. This system encourages the free market and provides opportunities for everyone willing to put in the work. But as great as it sounds on paper, the reality is much more complicated than that.
Capitalism has a bad reputation for causing inequality and alienation. Many workers see it as corrupt, unethical, uncaring, and often in line with what’s in the minds of the people in power. The capitalist society is maximizing profits like there’s no tomorrow, and it’s beginning to look like it’s going too far. After all, things have been getting pretty dystopian, from overworked employees that are having enough of being exploited to the middle class shrinking at alarming rates, and to the soaring inflation that makes it feel almost impossible to afford to be a person anymore.

My partner just had surgery yesterday to remove a cancerous tumour from his tongue. From the 1st GP appointment to today, it has been around 8 weeks, with MRI's and whatnot between. He's 45, had cancer twice and will be able to go on with his life as he should be...cannot begin to describe my gratitude for the NHS right now. Oh, and we've been paying into this system our whole lives. Those of you who think universal healthcare is something to be sneered at are dead wrong.
The NHS is a fantastic thing. I hope your husband is doing well
Load More Replies...I am challenging this. More to this story. Insurance does not "run out". You can cap, but must be offered other coverage or options. Nope.
This makes zero sense to me. Just because the insurance ran out doesn't mean give up. Many hospitals offer financial aid, there's medical assistance from the government. Hell, go into debt and then claim bankruptcy.
This in fact is what happened with my late brother. He received intensive care for several months that was paid though an assistance program at the hospital. Never got a bill because they knew he could not pay, yet he got stellar care from everyone. Its not ideal for sure, but there are programs out there that can help many.
Load More Replies...1992 I was 22, and had never had anything but elementary school emergency insurance in my whole life. I had seizures. My brother suggested I get insurance. So I called. They told me that I couldn't get insurance because I had a pre-existing condition. So, I spent the next four years untreated, traveling, going to school, going to work... I mean, what else was I supposed to do? I was 22. I have a note I wrote at the time in my journal. "Insurance problem- still the same"
Remember The Panama Papers
This is an insult to Daphne Caruana Galizia‘s memory. A lot of countries did tighten their regulations (including the then right-wing government of my country) and other journalists are working to finish what she started.
One of them is a youtuber giving financial "advice" and motivation. She has openly admitted that out of her millions, properties she owns in multiple countries, for-profit citizenships, companies and all that, she's found so many loopholes in every country she's makes money out of she only pays $100 in taxes. I pay double the taxes than that in month's pay making just above min wage. I started watching her because I thought she would have some good suggestions/answers on how to start making more money. All I got is that you still need tons of money and connections, and a skill rich people find valuable enough to invest big money into you.

Was a time, outside the memory of most alive, that we worked 16 hours a day, 6 days a week. Unions fixed that. The we got "gold fever". "I can do better on my own, I don't need a union. they take my money." "I'll get rich on tech! It's the golden land"
I love the people who argue against unions because a small percentage of less than ideal workers might have more job protections than you think are acceptable. Yet without a union, an employer can get rid of anyone for any reason.

What we see now often gets labeled as late-stage capitalism, a popular catch-all phrase that refers to the inequalities and injustices of the contemporary economy. As Kimberly Amadeo, the president of World Money Watch explained, it highlights the unrealistic views of the wealthiest 1% and describes how the middle class is largely unaware of the struggles of the poor. "It's the sense that monopolies, and the oligarchs that run them, have rigged the system in their favor," she wrote. "Many feel that capitalism's winners may even favor inequality. With it, they have fewer competitive threats. They 'rig the system' by creating barriers to entry."
This phrase expresses people’s frustrations with the modern capitalist society, something that has been years in the making. In the hunt for never-ending profit, capitalism as a whole has disappointed people and even started failing them. Many are questioning our world and why it allows a select few to thrive while the rest of society has a hard time trying to make ends meet.

Yeah, we recently had a someone over to give us a quote for removing mold in our flat. That misogynistic a**hole, after ignoring me and only talking to my husband, basically made it known that he thinks we are at fault for being too many people in a too small flat - that's my husband, me, my stepdaughter on weekends, twin toddlers and a cat on 78sqm. Like, b*tthead, we didn't ask your opinion, we just want the mold gone! And if we could AFFORD to have more space, don't you think we'd have it by now? Made me feel like we should "know our place" and move to the "ghetto" where we belong... Not like we planned on having twins or anything...

Best thing that came from covid is minimum wage employees learned that not working didn't change their lifestyle in any appreciable way. Life might have still sucked, but the stress of working a job that paid just enough to keep working was gone. At least of the ones I know that went through it

It's Ok To Hate This Dominant Economic State Of The World
It's because in America your value is equated with your ability to produce. If you are seen as not being able to produce much of anything to contribute to society at large, then your life doesn't have value. Banks = loans, farmers = food, billionaires = jobs. The sick? vets? children? elderly? Very low production value. No reason to invest in them. It's f****d up.
It's the aristocrats' divine mandate to make sure they bleed the most vulnerable dry so that society do not have to deal with them. And then one day, the people agreeing to this drivel realized they are part of society, the peasants and the ones actually bleeding.
The US Government including health care currently provides your list. We're close to trillions being paid by the government in this regard. I agree we are seeing a huge allocation of money going to friends of the government. Given that Liberal Democrats are receiving most of it at this point makes me wonder why you think Democrat Socialism would work any better. That's what you have today.
How messed up is this world? Much of my community relies on the goodness of the community. My church is working really hard to feed veterans, homeless people, people in the hospital (all through local charities). We also send supplies and support to kids at a nearby elementary school and invite them to play games and eat food. We provide ESL and tutoring. We do so much and sacrifice things like repairs for our building or more frequent and far reaching mission trips because the government is doing so little to help these people who NEED the help.
According to Denise Stanley, a professor of economics at California State University-Fullerton, capitalism may have lifted millions of people out of absolute poverty, but inequality can be corrosive within a society. "Absolute poverty is basically folks are able to get… $4 per day per person. It’s a threshold measure," she explained.
The economy is growing, but income inequality can make people feel insecure as their relative status in the economy declines. Behavioral economists have shown that "our status compared to other people, our happiness, is derived more by relative measures and distribution than by absolute measures. If that’s true then capitalism has a problem," Stanley said.

As someone who hangs out in lefty spaces, left wing rage is often misdirected at people who make minor mistakes or write a fanfic that someone doesn’t like, because that’s easier and more cathartic than any real activism.

not sure I agree, left-wing rage burned innocent people's property, destroyed small businesses, and caused an increase in cop killing. I will never support that and it is never right to destroy people's lives and property because you are angry. The crazy 10% of each side should be outcasts and hopefully in jail.
Does the Insurrection sound familiar? It wasn't left wing people killing cops and destroying property.
Load More Replies...Not sure what planet this person is living on, but left-wing rage (in terms of extremism) has brought attacks, bombs, repression of opposition and plenty of violence. Let's not forget the fact that violence and terrorist acts come from BOTH extremes. Don't compare the dangerous extremism of one with the union strikes leading to effective social change of the other - if you're gonna compare, compare extremism to actual extremism.
This isn't actually true. Henry Ford created "the weekend" because he realized that if companies were going to make a profit customers needed to buy things and in order to buy things they needed free time to do that. Ford said: "Leisure is an indispensable ingredient in a growing consumer market because working people need to have enough free time to find uses for consumer products, including automobiles." So he more than doubled the daily wage of his employees and gave them 2 days off. Not only did he make more money by reducing turnover and the cost of hiring and training new people, the wage increase gave the employees more money to buy automobiles, namely Ford automobiles.
right-wing rage gave us Donald trump and Bolsonaro and Duterte, etc and all the people who exult them (their cult members). right-wing rage just overturned Roe v. Wade in America. Right wing rage would like to turn America into Margaret Atwood's Gilead (Handmaid's Tale). But we, on the left, won't let the right turn back the times on us. we are ready to fight.
My very right uncle doesn't understand how i can say I'm liberal and still disagree with our be leary of some things they propose. It's because things suck and need to change. The right seems to just be fighting for the status quo and the left seems to want change. If nothing changes, then nothing gets better. Maybe they make a bad decision, but at least they are trying

The percentage increase in the cost of insulin since 1921 is far more than 200%, even adjusted for inflation.
Insulin was discovered and patented for $1 by a Canadian doctor at the University of Toronto. Maybe that's the difference?
The price for the SMA treatment is one million dollars, for one dose... I hope the guy who sells it uses all of the money he earns for his on medical bills.
Shame the scientist who discovered insulin didn't keep the patent and sell the non exclusive rights to make and market it. He could've made enough to cover expenses of administration of the patent and insulin would've been much cheaper by effectively going generic instantly
Sadly, I think he had an overly optimistic view of humanity; he didn't realize he needed to keep control over the patent to protect it from the modern robber-barons. He basically gave it away with the expectation that people would do the right thing and not take advantage of his selflessness.

Endowments are funds set aside for a specific thing - building a new wing on a building, establishing scholarships for students who otherwise could not afford tuition, etc. An endowment is not just a bunch of money that can be used for anything. They have strict limitations on how they can be spent.
"Capitalism is inherently exploitative," Dr. Roberts told us. "What we have now is a form of capitalism in which the social constraints on its operation given by the power of organized labor are perhaps at their weakest for some considerable time. The system always seeking new expanding markets now seeks to commoditize all aspects of human behavior and feeling."
"Capitalism has always been at odds with many human values — as its overriding purpose is to produce profit, not human well-being. Treating human beings as commodities effectively turns them into things, sources of profit. As the psychoanalyst Erich Fromm remarked, it turns human life away from the enjoyment of being into seeking relationships based on possessing or 'having.'"

Divergence of money to the elite is a real problem. In the US, the controlling elite, mostly Liberal Democrats, have been redistributing funds to their Cronie Capitalists. That was done when Republicans were in charge so both parties are full of it. Check out the video on New World Order and see why leading countries eventually fail. It's not Capitalism but Cronie Capitalism which is big time in the US. Socialism has never succeeded as a government model. The US Liberal Democrats are basically pushing that now but through Cronie Capttoism, more like a fire sale as the country goes into decline.

Slavery Didn't End. It Evolved
Guess it depends on the prison. The private industry program where I work, inmates get prevailing wage for the location of the job. They do pay room and board (25%) but the rest is theirs minus taxes, any court-order restitution payments and child support payments. They also are required to put a percentage into mandatory savings so that they will have a "nest egg" upon release. The only way an inmate ends up with "little to no pay" is if they have A LOT of restitution to pay for their crime or have many children (especially with multiple mothers) that they have to pay child support to and why shouldn't they have to pay for their children?
To some level I can agree that prisoners work, but only to cover the costs. When it becomes an (11) billion Industry, that is unfair competition to businesses and - worse even - to the job market. All those jobs that people cannot do because there are "companies" having close to free labor.
It's a complex thing. Yes, in many cases BUT 1) who gets actually charged is bias (class / race), 2) poverty and the culture it leads to when people are trapped in it for multiple generations can make crime feel normal to the point where kids have no other chance because they are caught up in gang structures from the time they're born and cannot leave 3) Just because someone broke the law, it does not give us the right to profit off them. Prisons should be the last point of order in society. Once they become profitable, there is a motivation to want people to commit more crime because then you get free labour. The best way to keep the crime rate up is to make the population poor.... and so we get modern America

Financial expert Sam Dogen told us in an earlier interview that there is no perfect economic system. "However, capitalism is the best system we've got that advances technology, increases productivity and efficiency, and gives people a chance to improve their financial situation. Capitalism provides people the most hope to get ahead based on hard work. Therefore, I believe capitalism will remain the system going forward," he explained.
However, the system's shortcomings have become extremely apparent, especially in the past few years. "The biggest flaw to capitalism is nepotism and family dynasties," Dogen told us. "This happens when the extraordinarily wealthy hoard their wealth and provide favors to their friends and children. This helps ensure the rich get richer and the powerful stay powerful. Nepotism doesn't mean the rest of us can't get ahead as well. It just means that certain people will have a much easier time getting ahead than others."
Decaying Capitalism Spares No One
That is completely and utterly f*****g monstrous.... anyone supporting a system that produces that outcome is insane.
I used to work in benefits administration for a large, well-known retailer. The worst phone calls I ever had to make were when medical coverage was denied for babies (and their medical bills) who died very soon after birth. The poor grieving parents didn't realize they had to add the baby to their insurance within 30 days of birth in order to cover those bills. It was horrible to have to tell them this, but it's some law having to do with IRS rules. Thankfully, I had very few such calls back then.
Could they not enroll them after the fact but still within the 30 days? Oh, God! I was writing more about my question when I realized that these parents never enrolled during that 30 days because who would think to put their now-deceased newborn onto their health coverage plan within some 30-day window that doesn't seem to even matter anymore. Sadness! This seems to me to be something a hospital should be explaining very thoroughly to the grieving parents out of simple human decency.

Can We Change This Death March System?
The last four years I taught I brought a bag of food to school every day. This was at a very tony high school, in an upper middle class part of Los Angeles. Every day, I'd go home with no food left over. Partly they're kids; they're hungry all the time. But everyone knew, go to room 113, Andrews will feed you. Administrators, fellow teachers, students, staff, all welcome. I got to retire three years early, but that part of work I still miss.
The Qpublikans will fight to the death to make sure a fetus makes it out the birth canal, but after that, they don't give a damn about the actual human child at all.
my high school gave out bagged meals for the kids to take home with them. I took one once, because they wanted the kids to take them, because my high school is full of little sh*ts who deny that they need help out of pride. it wasnt even very good, but its a hell of a lot better than letting kids starve
Dr. Roberts added that when it comes to pointing out capitalism’s weaknesses, the list can get disturbingly long: "The idea of perpetual growth, individualism, the fundamentally amoral nature of the economic system…" However, it isn’t helpful to see things in terms of binary opposites, the psychologist argued. "The systems in which we live need to change and are doing — but they need to be pushed in a more pro-human, pro-environmental direction."

I will never understand how a healthcare insurance is tied to having a job, wouldn't you need insurance even more when you are sick and can't work?
Yes. You would. Oh, but I worked 20 years in a government job that allowed you to donate your VACATION time for someone else's sick leave. And enough people were willing to do so for a colleague undergoing his second round with cancer to allow him to record enough hours on his time card to qualify for full-time benefits even though he was too sick to work at all. Which was the only way to keep his insurance to pay for his treatment. Donated vacation time got him through two bloody years, but eventually it ran out. Bankrupted his family before he died. Left a wife and three kids under fifteen, and medical debt can't be discharged in bankruptcy court. So stupid.

I was kicked out of their system the next month after quiting due to health problems and forced to pay a very expensive one. In Spain if you dont work and you dont have a working spouse there are systems to get you public health but they are very difficult to get. Still better than USA but its not the utopia people believe
There are extremely powerful forces working to keep it this way in America. Someday we will win and all Americans will have access to decent health care.
Just imagine what would happen if all of those involved in the health insurance industry were retrained as doctors, nurses, midwives, radiographers, pharmacists, physiotherapists,....
In Hungary, if you have no job, you got "only"_life saving_ healthcare. For free. But if you pay about 20 $/month, you have all the healthcare. Children under 18 (or until they finish university) also got free healthcare. Old age pensioners also got free healthcare.
This must correlate somehow to the high levels of workplace bullying in the U.S.

Unsure how to deal with their bottled-up feelings, thousands of people are voicing their concerns online in a bid to find ease knowing some like-minded people agree that capitalism seems to be in conflict with human values. But as Dr. Roberts noted, looking for comfort is not the answer.
"We must seek to live better lives whether they are comfortable or not and extend warmth, support and friendship to as many people as we can," he told us. "We must learn to deal with our emotional responses to the unfolding chaos and turmoil around us — not by suppressing them but by sharing them, feeling them and continuing to think about what to do while we feel them," he concluded.

It actually sort of makes me sick how hard we worked on making that property nice. We left it better than we found it, always paid our rent on time, and got kicked out during a pandemic And a housing shortage. The only place we could find at all was an hour away, in the city. There ARE NO RENTAL PROPERTIES IN THE COUNTRY. Rent costs more than a mortgage. Just f*****g let renters be able to buy a house
NYC has projects & rent control as they realize there would be no one to do low paying jobs if they didnt
Some counties in Florida are starting to have this problem large-scale - costs of living and housing have gone up so insanely that the service workers who essentially operate the entire economy can't afford to live there. It's happening everywhere, it's just more visible in Florida because so much of their economy runs on tourism.
This is a huge problem in American cities. Largely due to the deinstitutionalization of mental institutions in the 70s and 80s. Someone had the brilliant idea that mentally ill people should be thrown into the community with zero support. And with income inequality growing, we are seeing more and more families living in cars/on the streets.
To be fair, that wasn't the initial idea. There was a two-step plan to close abusive institutions and replace them with community based services. The problem was that they did the first part, took the credit for it, and then someone noticed that the second half was going to cost actual money, to care for people who aren't considered valuable by a frighteningly large percentage of Western society, and they never funded the community services.
Load More Replies...To be fair, move right outside the city limits. I grew up in an area like that, things were soooo much cheaper, I could pick any job I wanted or commute into the city for work. Now I live in the city and am barely scraping by
Key word there being 'commute.' Even 'good' public transportation networks don't get you very far in America. As someone living in the suburbs who doesn't drive, trust me on this one. I live just outside a major city, I can walk to a bus stop and a regional rail line in quite literally 5 minutes... and if I want to actually go anywhere outside of about 3 'major' destinations (local malls and the community college) I would have to ride the train into the city center and take three or four buses to get somewhere from there. If you want to live outside the city center, you're extremely limited unless you can get a reliable car and pay for the gas, and service workers are not getting paid enough to afford that much gas.
Load More Replies...The answer to that question is that people already now live in sewers or their cars (luxury) and similar places while they work full time to survive. The rich and even middle class are fine with that. Some of these better of people prefer that because it makes them feel like they're "simply better".

But They Take The Risks
Here's the thing. For limited liability companies, you just fold. Unless creditors can prove some shady shenanigans going on, siphoning money off to phoney vendors for example, the owners have next-to-no fall-out. You pay your accountants to make sure of that. At worst, they go bankrupt but rarely see jail time.
I'm probably going to end up downvoted again, but what I'm telling is the truth and the absolute truth. I'm a capitalist. I've been trying to build a company for the last 5 years. I have yet to get a single dollar in pay out of it. All my staff is paid, I have to do consulting gigs after hours to have a living wage. I already invested about 250 000 dollars of my own money into this adventure. Money I saved for 20 years before starting this. I liquidated my 401k to pay for the first employee. I could lose it all. If I make it and start making money out of this, will you socialist still hate me? If yes, why?

Because adding bees to the endangered species list the act covers was too sensible?
It's more that the bill when first written had only fixed categories and fish was already a misc category including a bunch of land invertebrates so the court as they can't change the law did the best ruling they could.
