As kids we also used our fingernails and scratched them to set them off, but it would always wear off a bit of the nail, and after a while it started to hurt and you had a smelly discolored dent in your nail. We were pretty stupid :-).
Nah kids still play with these in India in Diwali. Tiny little firecracker guns.

We used to wrap them round 2p coins with a bit of tape and lob them out the window at school.
Not a Boomer but we played with these as kids. If you don't have a cap gun you can hit them with a hammer while they're lying on the asphalt driveway. One time we threw them in a fire. I think I still have hearing damage from that! :)
Roll Caps for cap guns. Yeah, back then we played with toy guns and the caps made them go "bang".
I remember going to the old general store in West Barnstable to get caps and penny candy. They had a wooden floor too.

It's all 'women bad, hate wife, kids are stupid because they can't work tech that was outdated decades before they were born, the newer generation has different values hisssss'. Like a giant sign saying we're narcissistic bullies who no longer care about the kids who died when we were little, so we'll make fun of kids bike helmets and safety precautions now.
