Cleaning is satisfying. There's just nothing better than restoring something that has been neglected back to its former glory; and the dirtier it was, the better it feels.

And what gets grimier than the things that get left outside? Faced to deal with the elements - the rain, the mud, the smog and pollution of our filthy world, these objects seemed beyond rescue, doomed to decay in a fetid morass of crud and muck.

Enter the powerwasher. A true superhero of hygiene, there is nothing that this miracle worker cannot cleanse. Watch in awe as it sluices its way through the gunge, leaving behind a line of sparkle and renewed life wherever it goes. Satisfying? You bet your ass it's satisfying. This list, compiled by Bored Panda, is a clean freak's dream that'll have you googling 'powerwasher price' the minute you've finished scrolling through it.

Don't believe us? Check it out for yourself below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments! If you want more, be sure to check out this list of before and after satisfying cleaning pics.

While agree this lady is very talented, if she had been gifted a power wash earlier this beautiful work of art might never have happened

For more insight about the joys of powerwashing, why not hear from the man himself? That's right, we here at Bored Panda have been speaking to The Powerwash Man, Dublin's very own guardian against grime, who told us that his job is every bit as satisfying as it seems. "I actually love what I do," he told us. "You're in your own zone doing it, I put the headphones on, listen to a podcast and away I go."

"It's a very satisfying job to do as you can see the results straight away. I always take before and after pictures and send them on to my customers at the end of the job along with any recommendations to help preserve the garden after cleaning. A typical job would be a residential house either front or back garden, sometimes both."

"We have some contracts too with commercial customers restaurants , nursing homes etc."

This is by an artist named Klaus Dauven who worked with Kärcher (a power washer company) on this project. It took the team about two weeks to finish it - the fish are ~150 meter long. It is the Eibenstock-Talsperre in Saxony.

Oh wow. The grime is made up of the fish, not the other around. They had to power wash the areas around the fish to create the fish. That seems like it would be so much more difficult to me.

"When doing this kind of work, you're always meeting new, funny and interesting people. Just having a good chat to someone is what makes the work easier, I'm often given more work from the customers that you make time for."

The Powerwashing Man, also known as Stephen, decided to get into the business because he wanted his own business, and to be his own boss. He found that he could buy all the machinery needed without a great deal of investment, and so threw himself into the role. But why should people hire a professional like him?

"I find a lot of my customers use my services after they have tried powerwashing themselves," he continued. "I often come to a house where the wives are sick of asking their husbands to do it, so they ring me."

"A lot of the time they start a job and I come along to fix it and finish it for them. These customers always pretend it wasn't them, probably out of embarrassment!"

No, it's what you're used to. Like most people preferring white Greek statues and monochrome medieval statues, and faded Egyptian temples, where they were all horribly gaudy originally; the technology to keep colour over time just didn't exist.

besides pollution making these buildings so dirty, a lot of the dirt can probably date back to pre-modern erra..back when the main fuel for burning was coal..the air pollution after MANY years of burning coal made the air very black AND would turn the buildings black as the coal ash would settle on them..now with the use of power hoses buildings can now look like their former glories..if you go through Edinburgh you can see the difference where they've cleaned the older buildings..makes the city look much brighter..

The water coming off these buildings must be rather toxic. What happens to it? Down the drain and into the closest body of water or does it go to a treatment plant?

Based on having recently put in a patio, I think (at least) the black pavers have also been painted/stained post-washing. Most paving stones are somewhat porous and even the darkest porous stones have a grayish tinge.

"As a small business I often get help. One particular time I needed help but couldn't find anyone to step in, so I begged my wife who being a good wife, helped me out. This job was absolutely filthy, and because she normally has her hair and nails in perfect condition I thought she would kill me. But she got down and put a lot of graft in, we got the job done."

Does the Powerwash Man have any hints or tips for aspiring powerwashers out there? "There is no one single machine or nozzle to use, it all depends on what type of surface we are cleaning," he says. "Some jobs need a hot water machine , some need chemicals. Decking and roofs need a lot of attention, and you need to be careful not to use too much pressure."

So there you go. Scroll down to see the best powerwashing examples that we could find, and if you're tempted to get blasting yourself, play safely!

This seems to be a fountain that needs an auto sweeper used in swimming pools to pick up the muck before it builds up and requires a draining.

I can attest to the outcome of using a power washer on a deck. I did it in September and the before and after was truly amazing. Most of what you are seeing in the before picture is actually dirt, because the wood most likely has been sealed so it can remain nice underneath. I even resealed my deck after I did it just to keep it looking in tip-top shape!

On brick work like this it can also remove the mortar between and underneath the brickwork that keeps them in place - it isn't recommended. My neighbours did their part of the drive with a power washer and now some of the bricks are loose.

Surprised I'm getting dovnvoted for asking how people let their house get to this and the reasons being that it's expensive to upkeep or people can't do it because of whatever.... if you're buying a house with a pool and can't upkeep it, you didn't plan properly. Know the cost, and what's involved, and protect your assets! If you physically can't do it, ask for help, although if they were physically unable to clean i doubt their pool would be open with clean water.... that takes a lot of work too

It depends on if you can still read the names and if you need to do repair work. You shouldn't just let them fall apart. A power washer probably isn't the best tool for old weathered stone though.

That all sounds fair, and thank you for explaining. To be honest it's not something I'd ever do, certainly without training. And definitely not on a tombstone which may still have relatives visiting. I'm assuming if these were over 200 years old and abandoned, or moved away from original graves, then the person who did it probably thought they weren't doing any harm. It's nice to be able to read the details at least.

Noooooooooooooo! Especially marble (which is a very soft stone). The general rule is to test whatever brush you use on the inside of your arm. If it hurts there, it is too rough to use on the stone. (I doubt you would power-wash your inner arm.) Solutions such as D2 Biological Solution are made to kill lichens and mold without ANY damage to the stone or scrubbing. You do not even need to rinse it but if you want to, use a gentle spray of misting water or slowly pour water over it. It may be satisfying to power wash it, but you have just done about 20 years of damage to it! (Source: I sculpt in stone and am involved with many historical preservation organizations.)

YES!! What Mich says! As a genealogist, power-washing headstones horrifies me. Stone is so much more fragile than many people think and the carving too delicate for this abuse.

If you look at the first dirty board next to the cleaned ones, you can see where the power washer hit that board a little. It looks like the same color of wood that is cleaned to me.

I got ya buddy I worked for years painting and power washing there are few in the list that are fake. Some boards are not even same size in some like rotted out boards to this brand new full board it don't work that way usually boards are ripped part when pitted and rotted they don't fix there texture and board don't become whole and brand new ... Down vote all you want it's science.

Another commenter suggested that maybe the outer layer of grayed wood is removed in the process. That seems likely to me - the loss of color is probably due to sun and slight erosion, neither of which would penetrate the wood entirely.

Corn cob blasting is used on log cabins to remove old stain and dirt to prepare it for a new coat of stain. It's like sand blasting but uses the hard part at the center of a cob of corn.
