There are many things that are obviously true, but people still refuse to see them. We can take some simple examples - let’s say, you can know that somebody is being a terrible friend or partner to you. They are literally a walking red flag, but it is what it is because you love them, you have fun together and you just choose to look away.
Well, there are things with similar principles that everybody knows but just chooses to look away - such as that alcohol is no good for us or our phones are just robbing us of our time and attention. So, one Reddit user recently posed a question online asking folks to share things that are blatantly true, but that people still choose to ignore. Scroll through and share your opinion!

There is no super secret cabal of shadow brokers manipulating things to go their way, it's the super rich doing it very publically right in front of everyone with impunity
In the U.S. this used to be under control. Once you "earned" over a certain amount the tax rate went up. Then politicians drastically lowered the rate (Reagan was the worst of them) so the wealthy could amass ridiculous amounts of money. And now all that money is used to bribe not just politicians, but fund lobbyists (to get more money, of course) and buy courts. Yet voters keep putting grifters in office and then whining that they can't get ahead.
Giving billionaires tax breaks isn't helping regular working people at all.
And it never has, but the rich keep pushing the discredited "trickle down" trope that dense voters keep falling for. Spoiler: Your chances of becoming one of the wealthy are about as likely as you becoming president. Yeah, ain't gonna happen. Stop enabling the wealthy from stealing from you. Eat the rich.
Climate change is real, it is happening , and is an existential threat to future generations.
The climate change denial is being funded by the fossil fuel industry.
A C-section is a MAJOR surgery and some ppl want them right back at work or doing all the housework 🤦♀️
Having had 2 natural births and 2 c-sections i can confirm. Major abdominal muscles are cut. It's a big deal.
Yup. I was surprised that they actually CUT those muscles. You know, those muscles that do so much in just standing up? And some women are able to walk just two days after this? Just an appendix takes two days of laying down. Guys, really, imagine that somebody took a knife, cut your belly from about from middle of one leg to the other one, pulled a mellon out and than stitched you back. That is c-section. All women after birth, no matter if natural or c-section, deserve rest and care.
Load More Replies...And having one doesn't make you any less a mother. I've seen comments over time putting down those who have C-sections as "taking the easy way out" and being less of a woman and/or mother than those who had vaginal births. My wonderful niece would not be alive now if not for the C-section my SIL got.
If it wasn't for C section, we'd have definitely lost my brother, and quite possibly my mother too
Load More Replies...5 years later I still have numb spots on my stomach, I have finally gained proper feeling in my feet and legs, my scar shrunk but I still get itchy pain from it. I am also infertile after my c section. Saved mine and my son's lives though.
This is likely about the U.S. Here we lament a dropping birth rate, then penalize those who undertake such an expensive path.
You penalize women who would die if they didn't have a c-section? So, you would throw my mother in jail for laboring for 49 hours and then having a c-section? What f*cking country does THAT??? No wonder your population is dropping!!!
Load More Replies...I am baffled that anyone would think being sliced open to have a tiny human extracted is "minor surgery"?????
Now add to that, whatever condition led to the necessity for the c-section, from which the body still has to recover. Eclampsia, for instance: damaged kidneys, rocketing blood pressure, future risk of stroke & neurological impairment, risk of heart disease. Oh yes, and trying to recover and heal while caring for a newborn.
Load More Replies...With Crohn's disease I was not able to attempt natural birth due to the nature of my disease, so I had 3 c-sections and there was nothing easy about it. Each one gets worse and the scar tissue caused so many issues with my third, I was told I can't safely have more children. It was not as severe as having my colon removed, but still a major abdominal surgery.
The world looks at you like "you're not the first person to go through this. C'mon. Get your sh*t together."
I've had many surgeries, including major surgeries (reproductive issues/heart issues.....the latter are newer). I've always been pressured to return to work asap! Forget the fact I had multiple organs removed, or had heart surgery (I'm great now, in regards to my heart. My other surgeries ended for the most part after 7-8 surgeries for women's health issues, culminating in a complete hysterectomy). I've noticed this gets worse with women. I've worked in senior leadership and have been privy to confidential info.....men typically get longer leaves of absence/time off, than women. It's disgusting how people are treated (at least in the US) after surgery.
Not a C-section but ovary and fallopian tube removed. It’s like being cut in half.
Tell this to my father in law who told me to "man up" when he saw me taking paracetamol after my first emergency c-section
Dude, wtf? Next time, kick him in the balls, and when he tries to ice it or take pain meds, tell him to man up. Not saying these are REMOTELY the same, but like come on. Also, f**k your FIL.
Load More Replies...My mom had one with my brother. She literally went blind temporarily it was that bad. People need to stop s******g on c sections
I've had relatively minor (compared to a C-section) abdominal surgery, and it still took me weeks to recover fully. Then I had an abdominal hysterectomy, and that took several *months* to recover from. I defy anyone who's never had abdominal surgery before to have abdominal surgery, *then* tell me how "easy" it is to recover from. Eff that noise.
I had my son via c section. I’m grateful my surgery and recovery were textbook. I’ve heard some horror stories about women that weren’t as lucky.
My job wouldn’t even let me come back in fewer than 3 days after a tubal ligation. They preferred 7 but I got bills to pay.
After reading the comments below, I realised how much I didn't know. I didn't think it was as serious as that. " Thanks " TV.... Bless your hearts ladies....
That's a rubbish judgement. My niece was determined to have a home birth, no painkillers, no medical intervention. We nearly lost her, she gushed blood profusely and had a c section. It turns out her hips were too narrow to allow full dilation. There are thousands of women saved by modern medicine and thousands die due to misplaced ideologies and value judgements dumped on them by their families, religions and social circles.

One fears for a society that cannot identify clear and present dangers.
In America, we could have better. We could have healthcare and infrastructure and utilities and innovation *unrivaled* in the world, but we just... won't let ourselves have it.
Corporations control America, not the parties.
History does indeed repeat itself
Yeah, humans aren't too original. And the old scams continue to work, generation after generation.
That most religions are scams designed to sucker money from people by preying on their fears and insecurities.
That paying attention to your smartphone while driving can lead to deadly consequences.
Trickle down economics doesn’t work
The trickle is the wee wee that politicians do on us from a great height
Narcissistic abuse. People really don’t believe victims most the time. I hope to bring awareness to it.
Government subsidies contribute to big oil profits. They are turning in $4-5 billion profits per quarter but still get government handouts. WTF?
If no one gets paid enough money no one can afford to buy things. If no one buys things they won't make as much and then people lose jobs. Companies are all about under paying and over profit, but those same employees are the ones that are paying their bills.... If your employees cant afford your products you have a problem.
Economies are dependent on money being exchanged. The 1% cannot keep an economy running because they invest far more than they spend. Poor and working class people spend money...and there are a LOT of us. The 1% won't suffer because money actually trickles UP.
People are being easily manipulated by the Faux Outrage Machine.
The vast majority of the population is easily manipulated. Rupert Murdoch just turned it into a business empire. Thankfully his expenses lately have included $787 million for pushing outrageous lies that got people killed.
A grown child going No Contact with their parent means that their parent must have done something to break the innate trust a child has toward their parent. It's the child who needs understanding in this situation, not the parent.
Children are "programmed" to love their parents, it's what ensures their survival etc. That love is deep and doesn't go away just because a parent was a little mean once. It requires consistent betrayal of the childs trust, abuse/neglect/etc.
I would agree with this the majority of the time, but not every case is like this. I have a narcissistic family member who walked out on all of us (including her parents) because we refused to allow her to continue to gaslight us all. Her parents tried HARD to care for her but wouldn't stand by and watch her abuse her children so she went No Contact 30 years ago.
Amazon is actually terrible. It’s full of cheap junk and counterfeit items. There is no reason for Bezos to hoard so much wealth.
Bezos is a wealth hoarder for the same reason a dog licks his balls: Because he can.
Rubbing scents on your skin will not cure cancer or any other disease. There is some evidence that lemon oil has anti viral properties because lemons do and the menthol from peppermint oil can help alleviate headaches….but swallowing essential oils or rubbing them on your feet is not effective 99.99% of the time.
The system works for those for whom it was made to benefit.
The US Constitution was written by white, male landowners, so of course the first thing they did was disenfranchise everyone who wasn't a white, male landowner.
No legitimate business makes you pay money to work for that business. So many people in an MLM do not understand this, but yet shell over hundreds to thousands every month to maintain their "platinum XL Diamond-coated/Bleached A*****e" tier of their membership to Herbalife or whatever they belong to as an MLM.
(I live with someone in my graduate school who drank the Herbalife Kool-Aid...)
Anyone have a clue as to why that picture was chosen to illustrate this particular posting? Normally there is some logic but I am struggling to find any connection between Herbalife and Chelsea Football Club
Our phones are robbing us of our attention and ability to enjoy life
Your phone isn't "robbing" you of anything. Your choice to waste vast amounts of your time and energy on c**p you can't control is what is wrecking your life.
That everyone is the main character of their own story happening simultaneously with everyone else's storyline
It's only annoying when someone tries to be the main character in everyone's story.
If the government wanted us to have it, we would have had it by now.
If you live in a democracy YOU are the government. Your vote decides who makes policy. Stop voting against your own interests. If you really wanted it, you wouldn't vote for the tool who denies it to you.
Noses. They're literally right there, in front of all of our faces and eyes, and yet, 99% of the time we completely ignore its presence in our sight.

Big one these days: human rights should be universal, but aren't. The basic things needed for survival are regularly denied or made more difficult for vast swaths of our species for arbitrary reasons, usually by local majorities against local minorities.
That sometimes you are not entitled to your opinion. If your "opinion" contradicts facts, is racist, racially prejudiced, homophobic, transphobic, etc, then it is not an "opinion". It's bigotry.
Shaky ground here. Of course I agree that everyone, no matter what, should be treated with equal respect, and some opinions are totally off base. But you are entitled to whatever opinion you like, regardless of how wrong it is. What should be done instead of banning wrong opinions is educating people about the right opinion. Banning opinions has historically not been a great decision.
