Bored Panda reached out to Jing, who told us more about herself.

“Hi, my name is Jing. I was born and raised in China and have been surrounded by the arts since I was young. I studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China and later at the Zurich University of the Arts in Switzerland, focusing on style and design. To me, art is a way to express thoughts and emotions, and we can find it everywhere in life.”

Jing shared what inspired her to become a tattoo artist and how she would describe her artistic style.

“I became a tattoo artist by accident! It started as a fun hobby before graduate school, but then my Instagram went viral, and clients kept coming—many referred by previous clients. Over time, tattooing became my passion, and I found joy and purpose in the journey. I describe my style as traditional Asian art, blending elements of Chinese painting, gongbi art, and Japanese ukiyo-e. It’s a new tattoo style with an old soul.”

We were curious to learn about a memorable tattoo experience Jing has had with a client. She wrote: “There have been many memorable moments over the past six years, but the ones that stand out most are when I create tattoos connected to a client’s spiritual journey or beliefs. I’m a spiritual Christian, always learning, and hearing my clients’ stories often inspires me—sometimes even answering my own life questions. At the same time, I help bring their visions to life, and it feels like a perfect plan, guided by God, the universe, or whatever one chooses to call it.”

Jing also explained how she approaches designing a custom tattoo to ensure it aligns with the client’s vision while staying true to her artistic expertise.

“When clients submit a request, they include as much detail as they’d like. About a week before their appointment, we have a Zoom meeting to go over everything and get a feel for their vibe. Then I start designing. On the appointment day, I make final adjustments in person—it’s much easier to fine-tune the design and size when we’re together.”
