It's recommended you use said signal BEFORE you hit the brakes to make the turn. Because afterwards I have sort of figured it out already.

Indicate before you turn, not as you are turning

And a STOP sign means you must come to a complete stop. Just because the person in front of you stopped at the STOP sign, it does not mean you stopped. When it's your turn at the STOP sign, you must come to a complete stop. Do not roll thru just because there are no cars coming from the other directions.

Also, when turning right you don't have to swerve into the left lane (and vice versa.)

When changing lanes, my turning signal is directly connected to the driver's gas pedal, in the next lane. I turn it on, HIS car immediately speeds up to make sure nobody gets in front of HIM.

Around here if you are alongside someone & they keep giving you dirty looks, it means they want to get into your lane. It most likely leads to road rage. If only they could invent a gadget in the car to indicate that they want to change lanes.

I don't think Beemers, Audi's, or Lexus have them installed!

They’re carrying a lot of weight and need warning and time to slow down! They don’t want to end up taking out the back half of your car. Neither do you. Advice from a semi- truck driver. Also, if a semi or large truck in front of you wants to change into your lane, after they put their turn signal on, it’s nice to flash your brights at them when it is safe for them to make the lane change. They appreciate your help in decreasing the stress of making the move and not hitting you.

My partner drives a HGV, you'd be surprised how many people when approaching lights or stop signs just pull right in front or overtake just before cutting the stopping distance down drastically.

People get hung up on using specific words. Just be polite. Saying something like "i couldn't trouble you for another drink, could I?" is a hell of a lot more polite than saying "give me another drink please". The words aren't actually magic. Your attitude is much more important
