A business that has a physical place where people can come in is within their rights to establish their own rules that don’t contradict federal laws because it’s their property. For example, they can ban certain people from entering if they suspect they are a shoplifter or a troublemaker, but not because of their race or gender.
Apparently, getting banned from places is a real thing that happens not only in movies and people had some interesting stories to share when Reddit user PsycheAsHell asked “People Who've Been Banned From Somewhere for Life, What Happened?”
Which stories did you find the most amusing? Has someone banned you from a place before? What did you do to receive such a punishment? Share with us your stories in the comments!

My college roommate got permabanned from Target for putting Wet Floor signs next to the 50 Shades of Grey display.
All I know about 50 Shades of Grey is that it exists (I just have no interest in it), so the significance of this is lost on me.
In college, at the local college book store, I attempted to sell some books back to the store. After hearing what the buyback value was, a guy behind me said he'd pay $20 more for my books (he was taking the same course the next semester sand the store's mark up would by 100%). The bookstore owner warned me if I sold to this other dude, I'd be banned for life. I told him money makes the world go round and took my extra twenty.
This benefits both of the parties (buyer and seller) ; the only thing the seller has done 'wrong' is to deprive the vile little s**t of a corporate rapist (bookseller) out of a bit of extra profit - good for you, more students should set up their own book swaps / sales and kick the bastards off campuses.
I did this around 2 months ago but unlike selling something, I offered the guy a better deal. If you are in the retro video games scene, you would know that the Jungle Green N64 with 2 controllers is worth around 200 at minimum and it's pretty valuable. So what happened was that the guy brought it in and tried to trade it in for a Gamecube. The store looked at it and said "We'll give you $80 for it but if you want a Gamecube, we'll give you the Gamecube but you'll have to pay extra $80 to cover up everything." I was pissed that the guy is getting ripped off and when he was looking for some other games, I sneakily told him about a better deal that I am willing to give him since I am looking for an N64 back then. I think the clerk knew what the hell I was doing when I walked out. The guy later told me that the clerk decided to give him the Gamecube and a game for the Green N64 because he knew he messed up. In the end, he got the Gamecube and I got away from trouble lol.
Load More Replies...College books are ridiculous. I bought the older versions on eBay, most of which only had minor edits. Saved about 90% that way, and they still had all of the same information.
The local bookstores did the same thing with buybacks. I usually ended up selling my books online since I got more for them that way.
Maybe they should have finished the transaction outside but other than that...
Would that even be actually legal? He purchased the book, therefore is the owner, and can do what he wants with said book. How can a university store ban him? What does he tell his profs next semester if he can't get books. Sounds like b.s. to me.
Yes...? Within the last few years, a book publisher conned a judge into agreeing that the publisher retained all rights to the book in order to ensure . Whether that held or not, there's now precedent for claiming the resale is piracy.
Load More Replies...coulda just walked outside and conducted buisness if ya needed the bookstore in the future.... but how petty on the store
That’s why you first try to sell your course books privately, even when I went to university in the late 90’s (before the internet was huge, and before all these sale sites existed) there were ways to sell your course books. It probably way easier now. Also, any one who got banned from the uni bookstore just had to ask a friend to go in and buy their books for them.
I'm banned from a cafe in a town in North Wales; neither of which I'd been to prior to this experience. I walked in and the guy behind the counter said "You! I've told you before! You're banned!" I said, confusedly "I've never been here before", but he just pointed at the door, so I turned around and left. Almost 30 years ago.
*Puts on fake moustache* "Hello good sir it is my first time in this establishment!"
Load More Replies...Ah, been in this situation, but it was justified ; I used to be a freelance Chef and travelled the World, but based myself in the UK. Came back from a longish working trip to the Caribbean, rented a place to live (short term) in the South West, settled in and on my 3rd or 4th night back, went to the local pub, ordered a pint, only to be told 10 minutes later that I wasn't welcome .... turns out that the landlord of a pub in a town that I'd lived in 5 years previously had taken over this particular pub and as I'd had quite a torrid, brief fling with his Wife (still on the scene apparently), he wasn't too happy to see me ..... Hey ho, I spent quite a lot of my brief time there drinking at home or heading off to local towns for a beer or three !!
Maybe someone who looked like you got banned and the guy got confused? Idk just a thought.
It's a stock photo and nothing to do with the Reddit post this was ripped off from.

My uncle got us banned from a mom and pops diner in the 90's. The unintended but totally foreseeable consequence of doing their "eat a 72oz steak in under an hour" six goddamn times in two weeks. I know for a fact he does not regret it.
That's ridiculous. They didn't have to ban him totally, they could have just said he wasn't eligible to take the challenge again.
I hate when I hear stuff like this.. Like ay, you know someone is gonna take yall up on the challange. YOU made the rules
72 ounces is about 2 kg in real measurement. I could, maybe stuff half of it in me, but that would be it. O.o And nothing else of course.
Was there a prize if challenge won? If not the experience seems too bizarre. Not even a congratulations
The prison I used to work at.
I had tried numerous times to receive therapy to treat PTSD I gained while working the job and thanks to the HR taking their vacation was not able to get it and the administrative assistant warden told me, quite literally, "officers don't need therapy and if they do then they aren't cut out to be officers" and refused to help me find help.
When they learned (somehow) that I had sought therapy on my own, they attempted to place me on "indefinite administrative leave" citing "officer has conducted themselves in a manner unfitting their position"
So yeah. I sued them and quit and they banned me for life... from their prison.
Okay.
a good point as usual, Nathaniel 👍
Load More Replies...So wait, if you go out and commit a crime and get sentenced, you can't go to prison? I see this a win.
I was thinking the same.... who wants to rob places tonight?
Load More Replies...Police were viewed the same way. If you were having a hard time dealing with one particular case or just the accumulation of cases you worked, you were viewed as less than masculine. A lot of times there would be a department chaplain to help the officers but you were a wuss if you went to them.
That would never happen in a Calif. prison. My brother-in-law has PTSD from an assault from an inmate. The state is sending him to counseling and moved him to another position with no inmate contact. He's medically retiring early and negotiating a settlement.
I'm so glad to hear something positive come out of a prison system.
Load More Replies...So, how does that work if you commit a major crime? "The jury finds the defendant guilty of premeditated murder. He will be sentenced to 40 years in prison." "But I can't go there; I've been banned!"
It is now crime time around there area. Your defense is "im not allowed there bc they banned me" kapeesh?
If you get into trouble and get sent to prison, would they release you? : )
Think of this as a situation where you don't actually have to go to jail if you commit a crime !
Fine…I’ll never come back to your prison. I hope you've gotten the help you need.
Planet fitness I tried to cancel my contract (this was the 10$ plan which said I could cancel anytime) with them and they said I had to pay 150$ to cancel for god knows that reason. I called my bank to tell them to not let them withdraw from my account since they had my checking account information. My bank said they have multiple situations happen with planet fitness about their Unusual financial practices. 2 months later I got a letter from planet fitness saying I’m banned from ever signing up with them again. Planet fitness is a POS corporation.
Yeah this doesn’t seem like a loss to me lol. Gyms are kind of a ripoff tbh, my goal is just to stay fit and I’ve always worked out from home, in my living room or back yard FOR FREE with free YouTube videos/programs and never had an issue. Spent $50 on a few weights to help. Even grew abs. If you’re a body builder this wouldn’t work, but honestly, if you are an average human with 10 square feet of room and you’re also allowed to go outdoors, don’t waste your money on a gym. Would rather save my $200 a month and just do free squats and lift free small weights in my free living room, in 2022 gyms are such a money-grabbing scam for most ordinary people when you guys could get the same physical education for free, don’t be a sucker!
Load More Replies...I don't think that they thought this through. You essentially said, "I'm never coming back here," and their response was, "Oh yeah? Then you're BANNED!"
(Read as dry and monotone as possible) Oh no. I'm banned from the place I don't want to go to. Whatever will I do? Oh the agony! 😐
It's the ugly self justification that empowers the wrong and infuriates the ones who want justice!
Load More Replies...I had a friend with a membership to Lifetime Fitness. She died. They still refuse to let her out of her contract.
This is why you don't give places your banking info. You set up auto pay and they'll abuse it.
Their entire M.O. is to sign up as many people as possible for $10 a month knowing 90% of them will never actually go to the gym.
Me too! Im banned for the same reason! Hahahahahha (chubby belly giggles)
Got banned from a John Lewis (kinda upscale retail gaff in the uk) for browsing items. This was pre covid too. The jobsworth of a guard came up and told me to leave since I was and I quote "just picking stuff up and putting them back again" like no s**t sherlock thats how browsing in a physical store works. So now I'm banned from John Lewis
Not sure I believe this. I've browsed in John Lewis many times over many, many years. They honestly never mind people doing this. I did get someone else chucked out once for taking their clothes off in the clothing section to try things on because they couldn't be bothered to go to the changing room.
Teens and people of color tend to be the targets in these situations. Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it didn't happen to anyone.
Load More Replies...I'm not sure about this one, unless there's something we're not being told
To the people who don't believe this story : I was once stopped by the security guy at check out in a huge grocery store with lots of specialty items for "spending too much time shopping" to which I replied that I hadn't seen the sign saying there was a madatory time limit for shopping there. I didn't get banned but I sure as hell never returned.
I am sure they are crying in their beer that "online sales have cut into profits".
If this was a regular thing I'd be banned everywhere. Staff are usually trained to spot "professional" shoplifters in the posh shops. I'd probably look suspicious sometimes when really I'm just awkward and indecisive.
I haven't noticed upscale meaning anything these days except higher prices. Doesn't look higher quality than the stuff at the lower scale places.
Got banned from a restaurant for ordering too slowly / deciding slowly. What If I would have been 70+ yo?
Needs more context, browsing is quite normal in department stores. My guess is that OP was showing suspicious behaviour of some kind. Not the whole story.
I was banned for life from attending Late Night with David Letterman because I cancelled my reservation. I guess it was hard to find people for the audience in freaking New York City? The intern (I assume) who I talked to was very serious: “You should know if you cancel you will never be allowed back. Ever!”
Somehow I got over it.
Standby tix become available whenever people cancel. They're given out at 5:00 am the morning of that night's show--first come, first served. As someone who actually once spent the night sleeping in the hallways of the NBC building to score tickets... Thank you.
Oh no. Whatever will I do? Watch it in the comfort of my house? My heart is broken. 😑
Stated in your most sarcastic slow monotone voice ever, of course! Lol!

I was banned from a locally owned breakfast buffet as a kid for eating something like 6 really big plates and cleaning the place out of bacon at only 9 a.m.
There are these all-you-can-eat places in Hungary, called Trofea. Guess, what! A few years ago one guy was banned from them for eating too much. :P
That seems to be pretty common, they make business estimating that most of the people dont actually eat that much so that covers the few that do, but when competitive eaters or "normal" people who eat massive amounts come in they decline service next time because they lose money if they let them eat there :D
Load More Replies...I sort of agree with bans like this when a person hogs one particular food. Eating most or all of one thing by yourself is not how buffets are supposed to work.
Went to a breakfast buffet and watched a guy, guessing about 16 years old, grab the very large container of bacon and dump ALL OF IT on his plate. Restaurant had more and eventually brought it out, but still. Don't think anybody got banned though. Just rude and selfish behavior. It is all you can eat, but pace yourself a bit and let others have a chance.
The high school wrestling team from my high school got banned from an all you can eat place. They went after the match. Mist of them didn't eat before the match to make weight. So, you have a group of starving teenage athletes...
All you can eat was actually a waste of money for my family- our appetites were too small to justify the entrance cost! I never really like the greasy food they served either, though the dessert was good so that's all I ate the last couple of times I had to go there for a friend's birthday.
Same with my family when I was a kid. We had enough with only two portions for a family of four from our local Chinese restaurant. But Chinese restaurants are known for their big portions in my country. Now I don't eat Chinese food very often, because my SO doesn't like it...

My cross country teacher got banned from Disneyland "for life" when he was a kid because he and his friends hijacked a canoe at Tom Sawyer's island.
Dude was like 60 when he was teaching us, he'd been to Disneyland dozens of times since lol.
Yup. Nobody remembers that stuff after a while AND, the guy very well may have wound up bringing his kids and perhaps grandkids. Disney got reimbursed for their inconvenience.
How would they even enforce a lifetime ban? It's not like they check IDs.
I recall getting stranded there because of, once again, rain coming in. We ran about the different little buildings since we weren't allowed anywhere else. It was such a pain being there in Florida and going to Disney and Universal because of the inconsistent bouts of rain that was constant.
I just got a self imposed banned from Russia, apparently you can't just leave a car there otherwise you get a very strongly worded letter from the government. Not being able to afford £20k fine and I'm too busy to be imprisoned I think ill just avoid going back.
In the current climate, I don't think anyone in their right mind wants to go to Russia ....
Unfortunately, there's far too many idiots in the world. Just think about the people that are dumb enough to go to places like North Korea, Iran, Alabama...
Load More Replies...Huh? Dumping a car (or any other trash) randomly is illegal pretty much everywhere I know of, so seems like nothing unusual here other than some dumbass who "apparently" did not know that
In most jurisdictions in the USA, if you abandon a vehicle on a public street or a private property and that vehicle is towed away after it sits unclaimed for some length of time (which varies by state) the towing company can file a lien against the title for the vehicle and after some further length of time foreclose on the vehicle, take legal ownership of it and either send it to auction or scrap it. That sounds complicated but it's all simple paperwork that towing companies do all the time. If your car breaks down and has no value, the cost of you paying to have it towed away might even exceed its value as scrap metal. This way after some time passes and some paperwork gets filed the towing company gets their money anyway without you having to do any extra work. Alternatively a few towing companies around here will tow at no added cost in exchange for the title to the vehicle.

I got banned from Brookstone for falling asleep in the massage chair.
How is that bad? Massage chairs are relaxing? Why not just politely wake you up?
Isn't that a compliment? I'd probably fall asleep, too. I'm sure you're not the first person.

Uhh that's moronic management. A random person falling asleep on a massage chair is the perfect advertisement.
There was a roller rink in town that posted on social media that they were having a deal on handmade pizzas and a pitcher of soda to try and drum up business.
The picture clearly showed a digiorno pizza and I commented saying that it was. My comment was deleted, and then I went back to say, “you deleted my comment saying that this is a digiorno pizza.”

I saw guys from the local Chinese restaurant buying a trolley load of noodles and prawn crackers in Tesco. They weren't very discreet and they still had their uniforms on. I thought it was funny.

I got banned from r/pokemongo for spreading misinformation about the COVID vaccine. Which I have never done! Hell I just got my booster shot 3 weeks ago. I sent messages and everything and they won't respond or unban me.
I was banned for spoofing. Funny thing was, I WAS IN AN AIRPORT!! I was waiting for my connecting flight but I guess because I jumped time zones (even after staying logged off for several hours due to flying) seemed to be a red flag for some reason. I at least got them to respond to me and restore my access. Especially after I made them look at that my ip address matched my location.
Seems like it would be super easy for an admin to confirm that you did or did not post antivax stuff.
Got banned from r/fortnite for saying “fortnite bad Minecraft good”
For anyone confused. He got banned from a discord server not Fortnite itself
You can get banned from Minecraft (actually from all multiplayer servers and Realms) for what you say in chat on just one server nowadays. So if you say that same thing but switch the words around, someone can report you for it.
I just remember I got banned from a Facebook page for arguing with their hyperbole.

In one such post where he was bragging, I replied with a photo of him in which I photoshopped his face on a street vendor selling bananas. Got banned in probably an hour.

I was banned from a grocery store for shop lifting when I was a kid. I ended up working there like a year or 2 later.
Yeah my friends did this (idk if they still do, we aren’t really keeping in touch)
I never got banned but I had a form of PTSD. For years I couldn't go in a department store without being paranoid they were going to accost me even though I wasn't doing anything.
If you were working there a year or two later you weren't a kid when you stole.
Not me, but an ex. He walked into a Best Buy to look at Fitbits. He picked one up, concealed it and walked into the restroom to steal it. What he didn't know was that a Best Buy employee was in the restroom and heard him opening the package. He walked out of the stall, Fitbit on his wrist and came fact to face with the employee. They charged him and he spent a night in jail. He was most assuredly banned after that.
Walk out with the fitbit on his wrist, obviously...

Got fired and banned from Lowe’s for not working hard enough. Honestly, if I was gonna lose my job for something, it was climbing the shelves, making myself a little cubicle in the shelves I could sleep in…and stealing hundreds worth of cold brew coffee.
In my defense, however, I had 11-hour overnight shifts. Never again.
What you came up with was an ideal solution to exploitation ie ; fck 'em, I'll sleep and earn, they'll never notice - well done.
If he didn't want to comply with Lowe's shift schedule, he should'nt work there. He's a lazy opportunist employee who want free stuff without paying his due. I got my mom banned for life from a local grocery store because apparently when i was 3 or 4 I wanted a toothbrush really bad and when she said no I put the toothbrush in her purse when she wasn't looking and then she got caught on the way out and banned from the store.
Oh man. I feel really bad for that mom. It's embarrassing, unfair, and maybe really inconvenient not to be able to go to the preferred grocery store anymore!
I worked retail for years, and little kids stealing just comes with the territory, they don't know better. I don't know why you would ban a parent for that, and over a toothbrush of all things.
It's true. I've taught my kid about not taking things and not touching things in stores. She's not stolen anything yet (to my knowledge), but I've noticed that at home, her little hands can grab something and hide it ridiculously fast. One minute something is there and the next it's hidden in box inside the stuffed animal bin two rooms over. I feel it's only a matter of time before I have to take her to return something to store somewhere. She doesn't yet understand the difference between putting something in the cart (acceptable) and putting something in my bag (unacceptable).

When we got home I was pulling things out of the diaper bag and found about 5-6 pieces of a toy that was not ours. Wooden train tracks and big wooden puzzle pieces with County Health Department stamped on the back. Apparently, my son has been shoving them in there when I wasn't looking. We returned them of course and the front desk lady just cracked up about it.
This happened to me too. When I came home from shopping at the drugstore, I saw some make-up items in the storage rack under the seat of the stroller. My then 1,5 yo daughter must have put them there. I think that storage rack is below the reach of the alarm ports at the store's entrance, so that must be the reason they weren't set off. At that age she constantly took random items from shelves. Most of the times I would see it and put the items back, but not this time. Maybe it's not totally right, but I ended up just using the make-up stuff. My daughter accidentally picked the right color concealer! 😁
Load More Replies...Having jobs as a babysitter/nanny when younger and taking said sat children with you when you had to do shopping I found out quickly little kids are kleptomaniacs mostly. Either they are too little to realise when they see others taking stuff off the shelf and putting it in the cart it does not mean they too can follow suit. Or they do work out there is the checkout process and money exchange (usually after getting found out with stolen items from before then) and realise they do not have said money so they get more ingenious at stashing stuff. A few of the kids I used to have to almost strip search before we would leave a place to make sure nothing was going out that was not purchased
It's a toothbrush! If they needed to ban anyone they need to ban the toddler. It fits the crime. [yes, sarcasm]
How come she didn't run across it when she went in her purse to get her wallet?
If she was like me and carrried a back pack purse so she could have her kids stuff in it too she may not have seen it. My wallet phone and keys go kn one section and other stuff in the back

My daughter, who was about 2 or 3 at the time decided to just take one as I was busy paying. We had gotten a few feet out of the store and I noticed she was holding one of the plushies. I immediately told her she can't just take things without paying and brought her back to the store and got her to apologize. The store clerk told her "You're lucky we're not calling the police this time." I'm guessing they were trying to scare her out of stealing again. It sort of scared me cos I know who would be the one penalized and it ain't the tot. She got a good scolding from me, too. And, no, she never stole again.
I stole some cd’s from Best Buy when I was 13. I’ve gone back a million times since my ban. Never stole anything ever again though.
Not me but a friend was banned from our local library because she was playing around and ended up knocking over all the bookshelves.
I got banned from the local library for "being there too often." The crazy logic was no kid would actually read that many books so I clearly was using the library for some other purpose. When I went to check out the latest round, the librarian cut up my library card and made a massive deal of having me removed from the building. I was 14. When I moved back to town in my late 20s I tried to get a library card and found out I WAS STILL BANNED!!!! They had me down as "conducting illicit activities on property" in the system. Luckily the librarian at Central got it overturned in under a month. Still nuts.

Was banned from every sainsburys for life. Got arrested for nicking a couple things. Police officer taking my prints at the station was telling me that the ban is unenforceable and not to take any notice of it. So nothing really happened except I've grown as a person and no longer do bad things
And hopefully don't shop at the Tory backing, mendacious, vile, tax avoiding Sainsury's EVER - !! If you look through the company history, they are one of the vilest corporate rapists the UK has ever seen - and that's saying something given the bunch of bastards currently controlling the food sector at the moment !!!
Got banned from club penguin for cussing
How could you get yourself banned from a place that has really cute cakes like this? I want one!
club penguin was a popular computer game in the 2010s lol
Load More Replies...Same happened to me, except i said dang. Idk what was up with that
Was this the one where the comment was based on the amount of purple penguins?
Sears, I stole a pair of sunglasses 40 years ago
Really? When I worked at sears there was a 30% staff discount. Only thing I actually bought with it was towels. I was there near the end when the stores were loosing money
I was banned for 99 years while my cousin was banned for life at knott’s berry farm in California after he jokingly asked the staff what they’ll do if he had hydrogen napalm in his water bottle.. They had to shut down the theme park for the rest of the day due to a bomb threat and bomb squad escorted us out. Good thing we weren’t asked to go to a police station, but that was one hell of an experience for me. I’ve never gone to any theme parks with him after that. [2011]
Is there a practical difference between being banned for 99 years and being banned for life?
Yes, after 99 you can go back for centuries untill you die. Even if you are 300 years old you still wouldn’t be allowed in the case of a lifetime ban
Load More Replies...Some things you can't joke about. Like if you are on a plane and you spot your friend Jack, you can't yell "Hi, Jack!" This will not turn out well for you.
A local non-name brand dvd store when I was a kid. I tripped and knocked over a shelf of dvds near the entrance.
Banned for life. The store closed a few years later so it ended up being for the duration of their life.
I started asking silly prompt questions on the WoW off-topic forum.
The kind you occasionally see on askreddit or the other ask subs, but this was way before reddit took off.
A mod deemed them to be spam and permabanned me.
I was banned from a discord server for having a profile picture they identified as an anime profile picture, and that meant that I was a weeb, but it was not from an anime, but from a video game.
Was a kid and stole some pogs from K-Mart…got banned from the store and arrested for theft under $5K. Had to do community service. I was so glad when K-Mart went out of business in Canada.
In Canada you can get charged for doing crime once you've hit 14
Load More Replies...Stole from a store then evidently blamed store for theft? I mean that last line just made him look like a idiot
I was banned on Bored Panda for one day for commenting on someone else's comment saying what a SOS morse was. I literally said " three short taps followed by three long taps, and then three short taps again. I am sure you heard of it somewhere :)" and got banned for a day. idk maybe it sounded a little rude so now on most of my comments i put (not to be rude) just so that will not happen again. (not to be rude)
I got banned for a week because i said fake news existed in the 1890s.

I have just got back from my second ban for having 10 Downvotes. They should set it for 10 reports of abuse and not to downvotes
Load More Replies...I was banned from a nursery group when I was 5 for stomping around chanting "Poop! Poop! Poop! Poop! Poop! Poop! Poop! Poop! Poop! Poop!"
Well, that's just ridiculous. Kids do that sort of thing, it's no big deal. Sheesh.
Load More Replies...Bit of a long story, but I'll try to keep it short. About 20 years ago (before I was disabled) I went out for a friends 21st birthday. Now bear in mind that for 3months prior to this I hadn't touched alcohol, weed, caffeine, tobacco or any other drugs. So at about 9am (when the pub opened) about 10 of us are squashed in a booth for 4, the pub was otherwise empty. I had a coffee (first vice broken) whilst the rest of my mates had pints. I thought "One pint won't hurt" so I got a pint, it slipped down like butter, as did the next one & the next etc. A short while later a couple of old ladies sat opposite us (in an otherwise empty pub) and constantly complained about our noise. The manager was apologetic & sympathised but they kept complaining. So I got up to go to the toilet & in my tipsy state I said to one of the old ladies "You look proper sexy in that red jacket". She (quite rightfully) kicked off & said "I've got 3 sons your age & if they behaved like that I'd spank their backsides"
Continued - Well I exposed my backside and said "Go on, spank me". Well at least that's what I thought I did. What I'd actually done is drop my trousers & underwear down to my ankles, giving my friends an eyeful & exposing a lot more than intended to the poor old lady. Obviously barred for life. Later that night in the cool pub, I clotheslined the birthday boy over a table & they didn't say a thing. Remember I hadn't touched Caffeine, tobacco, alcohol or drugs in 3 months? By the end of that night, I started with coffee & was drunk, stoned, and on MDMA. My mate still thinks it was his best night ever. Me, well I'm a little ashamed but can't deny it was a good night. I deserved to be barred for life though.
Load More Replies...Back in the 90's I was banned from a local bookstore/deli. An acquaintance had dared me to steal the "no smoking" sign from the restroom. The moment it came off the wall an alarm started blaring... It was attached to the wall with some kind of magnetic alarm and the kid who dared me knew all about it. The police were called and I was banned for life. I honestly didn't care too much... Everything was way overpriced so I pretty much only loitered there anyway.
If we're talking about reddit subs, I got banned from r/nostupidquestions for answering a question. It was a hot topic question that was asked in ignorance of the situation and instead of flaming the guy like everyone else was doing I sat down and talked to the guy. He came to understand the situation and thanked me for actually answering calmly instead of overreacting, I received a ban a few hours later for answering the question.
I got banned from Emory's Psychiatry department because I had to cancel my new patient appointment, due to a migraine. Now I can never see an Emory Psychiatrist, because I missed that one appointment.
I got banned from Mumsnet because someone screamed the N word at me (ie posted the word in full, in all caps) for defending Meghan Markle after another poster said she used to be a prostitute (Mumsnet banned the poster who used the N word but didn't ban all the posters who were laughing and egging them on), then months later someone posted that there had been zero racism towards Meghan in the UK and I replied saying "someone literally wrote the N word out in full in a Meghan thread and loads of posters thought it was really funny." Apparently Mumsnet has a policy where you're not allowed to refer to any post once it's been deleted
I was banned from a band fan facebook page for posting my art, not selling, just posting. Everyone posted their art and crafts there mind you, but some d**k first decided they were just photos, they were not and I shared in process saves to prove it. He then decided that mine would violate copyright rules because I worked from photos... They featured no actual photos, just drawings of photos. Other people were putting the bands actual logo on things and trying to sell them. The d**k was buddies with the admin so there you have it. It was stupid and I shouldn't have cared, but I haven't had the courage to post more than sketches since. Moral of the story, its hard for artists to get the courage to share their work, please be kind and don't make accusations unless you have proof.
I do that, too, make artwork from photo references, and people have warned me to be careful or I could get a copyright claims. I see the harm in it. It's not like artists don't copy and refer to other people's actual art with no problem.

Was it because of what you said, or was it because people downvoted it? I read (in these comments) that they will ban you if you get enough downvotes.
