"Cuts back on insulin" uhhh there's a way to spin it. Have you considered "cutting back" on air and water too? Why not just take food out of your schedule entirely?
Big Pharma is pure evil. Until the mid 2000's, asthma and COPD inhalers were exempt from the CFC propellant ban. 3 major pharma companies lobbied the government to include inhalers in the ban, just so they could introduce new versions (with a different propellant) that they could trademark, thus removing cheaper generic versions from the market for 10 years.
Insulin is in fact one of the cheapest medicine on earth... As a french nurse im ashamed how much insulin we waste at hospital. Maybe i should send it in USA...
i cancelled my biopsy this week, because they told me i have to put 50% down payment for it (i have medical insurance) i am already scared about the procedure and the possible result. but learning about the payment made me cancelled it. i will just pray and if i die, then, so be it.
That sounds so scary! I'm sorry. I've also never heard of a medical provider asking for half up front for a diagnostic test. I know this is not what we're taught to do growing up in America, but could you try calling another hospital and see whether they have a different policy? I think not knowing the results could long term be scarier than knowing. Best wishes whatever you choose

For everyone that is saying move to another country, it's not that simple. If you are already having issues paying for insulin, then how do you expect them to come up with the funds to relocate to an entirely new country? The amount of money alone it would take to move to another country would be a huge financial burden. The moving fees alone would be substantial. What about housing when they get to a foreign country? Also being an American citizen, how easy would it be to find a job? In the meantime, being a foreigner how long would it take to acquire healthcare? If you already live in Europe it's much easier to relocate to a different country in the EU. Even Canada has requirements and criteria you have to meet before you are even considered for citizenship. But for Americans it's not quite as simple as everyone thinks it is to just up and move across the ocean. So please, stop and think for a minute before you give advice on what you would do if it was YOUR situation.

I have a Dr that is refusing to renew my prescription for the meds I need to eat, because I transferred care to another facility,but they are supposed to according to them for 30 days continue care for things like prescription until I can get my care established,but they are pissed that I actually had already switched care, so yaaaaa I legit can't eat without this med to process food, yet the dr refuses to renew this prescription, btw I live in a rural community..
One where poor uneducated folks are psychologically manipulated to prefer death over seeing billionaires forced to give back some of the money they have exploited said poor people for. It's like living in hell after growing up in paradise. What we get for taking it for granted.

This is a shame. Other people cut back on their medications because of costs and other criteria. This kid died because of concern for his family and that shouldn't be a reason for dying. Big pharma is responsible for this by their prices and total disrespect for the average person trying to survive. Prescriptions are outrageously expensive. I don't see their profits to their stockholders declining, I see total disregard for the prices of their medicines to the public, and no concern for the difficulties this causes the average citizen who needs medical prescriptions to survive. I had a prescription for a mole that cost me $100. I asked and the pharmacist told me that without insurance, it would have cost $1,000.00. How do we pay for this?
A child should never have to do this. Kudos to child for exercising more. Maybe sign up for diabetes walk lots of exercise with that.
Why are humans so evil to each other, this makes me weep. My son has cystic fibrosis, a life threatening genetic condition, in Australia, the medication he required had not been approved because it was too costly, 300,000 a year (Thanks Vertex) he was close to transplant when his doctor got through to Vertex to put him on the drug on compassionate grounds, I think about that all the time because he could have died, he could have f*****g died
Don't most other countries require you to have a job before immigrating. Proof you're not going to be a burden on said country. Our health care system in the US is unsustainable.
My cousin died due to skipping his insulin but he was a truck driver and theres something that was stopping him from doing that if he was also using insulin. Not fully sure what that was
